In simple terms, what I'm trying to do is to be able to record 2 separate apps onto separate tracks of a multichannel app such as loopy simultaneously so that they record on separate tracks. Currently I don't seem to be able to do this.

You can do that with MultiTrack DAW or Cubasis.

Thanks @Sebastian I really need Loopy to support this feature. I expect if he has to code it for masterpiece it will be soon included in the old version too. I'm heading to Loopy forum to stalk @Michael

  • I like loopy with remote, but would really like a track volume control.

  • I like what I see/hear so far when controlling my apps on the iPad Air 2 from my iPhone 5.

I do not have more 'prepared' units to play with at the moment, but are there any plans to add support for remoting multiple iOS devices?

To have all the on/off toggles for all the running effect and apps available on one screen at the same time is super nice :)

  • my feeling was right, nothing for me :) But that doesn't matter,as i said i only need Auria pro to be complete.looks cool though.Wish you succees with this one!

    cant try it yet,
    but nice & interesting....

will REMOTE work on more than 2Devices?
This would be awesome for BandCollaboration....

One Air2 with parallel 4xREMOTEs for every musician, to see&act....

Remote Volume and Mute/solo of every App in the AB-Preset, is this possible (essential!!)?

Interesting concept. We've decided to launch with the simplest version of AB Remote (just one additional device) but we're going to listen to feedback like yours.

wow, just tried it with Soundprism Electro and Jamup (which allows you to select pedal categories and presets in AB Remote), works great!

Yes, definitely a game-changer! Glad I kept my old iPad when I got my new one some time ago!

  • Cool...man!

I love the remote record button for Auria :-)

And I love the switch for preset too...

ipad 2 and ipad 4 here so i guess it does me no good.

But, if you've got an iPhone instead, you can use that...

  • iPad Mini 1st gen seems to work fine too :)

Yeah. The 1st mini and iPad 3 are perfect for this because AB Remote doesn't really need any CPU or other stuff to run smoothly. You can even turn off the screen of your main device to save more power ;)

  • Great idea, but I am still on iPad 2 so can't use it yet. Just wait till I get my iPad Pro though!
    P.S. So it's not a randomizer then?!

Sorry, definitely no randomizer. Unless someone adds it as an extended trigger.

  • Just joking anyway!

  • @Sebastian I've not dug deeper into how the 'AB remote-triggers' work but would it be possible to have multiple 'generic' onscreen keyboards/pads/knobs/sliders/x-y-pads to control the attached instrument & effect-apps?

I'm aware that the iPad/iPhone-Screens would get a little crowded but having those would give the remote app a huge boost for performance applications. (One finger chords for synths, change root-note for bass-line/arpeggios, x&y multiple effect apps at once etc). It should be possible to fit 5 2.5 octave keyboards vertically on the iPad screen. (The Casio CZ app manages cram 4 playable keyboards in landscape mode).

On the other hand, I hope the 'ordinary' AB gets the same interface boost as the remote app making it easier to handle multiple apps on one screen.

  • Hehe, because of my job mainly, I have an ipad4, air2 and mini, along with half a dozen or so iPod touches... Using these devices in clusters has been part of my job for a while, so I'm surprised I didn't see this coming sooner! Great idea!!

  • Does the app need to be installed on both devices?

For instance, is it going to save space in that way? Or do any apps involved needs to be installed and opened on each device?

  • edited July 2015

AB Remote is the only app you need to have installed on the device that you want to use as the remote control. Nothing else.

  • Cool idea! So to clarify, it won't control any apps that are running on the same device, correct? Only apps running on another device? Not sure I'd be willing to dedicate an entire device to a remote at this point, especially when using an iCA4+ and could use that other device to process audio.

If you are still taking enhancement suggestions, I think it would be cool if it doubled as a controller for apps running on the same iOS device so you had a full screen controller of all the main functions of whatever apps were running at the time. Then you wouldn't have to do the app-switching routine. I suppose you could program MIDI Designer or similar apps to do this but I think the auto configuration is the big draw here. Also, allowing multiple devices to connect and control an iPad (for group jams or whatever) is a great idea too!

  • To expand on that above, with iOS9 we get the split screen right? If AB Remote allowed you to control apps running on the same machine, you could have a split screen of AB Remote and whatever app you also need real time control over. Seems like the best of both worlds, providing split-screen is all I hope it will be lol.

  • Mmhhh... so could i now use multiple apps to control multiple plug-ins via Audiobus when i'm using apps like Music I/O via lightning to mac? So i want f.e. control with the iPhone some iPad apps which controls some of my plug-ins. Well, i will try it this weekend (if i have the time and power) :D

I wouldn't bet on many apps supporting split screen in iOS 9. It's an immense amount of work to re-do static UI for most apps.

Apple giveth, Sebastian taketh away. :(

J/K - REALLY need coffee now, lol.

  • Coffee sounds nice.

  • Coffee +1

    really? if i think about that the retina have 2048 × 1536px, so 2 x 1024 × 768 is a easy solution....
which resolutions did it have to for splitscreen?

  • @Sebastian said:

Is it possible in theory for developers to implement user definable triggers, a bit like midi learn..so a user could define an app control to be triggered in the remote?

I'm guessing they could, but of course that would be a bit of extra work to make happen.

  • edited July 2015

@obiwahnkentobi: It's not that easy. Apple requires apps to support "compact' resolutions as well, which are not just halved.
