Samplr updates are like Halley's Comet.
I just took remote for a spin. Very sexy and worked as expected. The buttons are on a small side on 5s but links up like magic.> @The_Unflattered said:
Sorry, shameless plug but, do you see any sweeping distress here?
No, but I also see a lot of hardware and wires, and you switching once between Samplr & Loopy. I really think the use of Remote is for all those times you want to work exclusively w/ your iPad (discounting, of course, the phone), in a more Audiobus-intensive environment. I think it's safe to assume that you don't need a second screen, precisely because you have all that hardware incorporated. If you were out there doing it ALL on one iPad, you'd see the advantage of remote on a second, small screen. I'd rather set up an iPad & phone w/ AudioBus Remote than to set up your admittedly concise array.
Nice work though.
Wish i had a second ios device.
Maybe the developer of Samplr dont realize he made the best app in the whole app store (of course this is only my personal opinion).
I'll second that. And third it.
Ya! very personal!
Samplr = best music app on iOS period.
I think this dev can make the new ableton if he wants.I mean i hope he does.
Don't know if it's just me, but the app isn't showing up in the (US) app store on my iPhone.
On the Audiobus website the remote app has been introduced. You can load the app with the link on there. Worked for me, here in Germany.
Here's the link..

Love this new app and think it has a lot of fun potential. One small use that I'm very excited about: I have a 32 channel digital mixer (X32 Producer) that I use on gigs. It's a class compliant USB interface, so I can plug an iPad into it and Auria will see 32 ins and outs, allowing for 32 channel recordings. Biggest problem is that we tend to run the mixer via an app, which means it can be located offstage. But this makes starting and stopping Auria very inconvenient, since a member of the band is usually responsible for the mix. Now I can start and stop Auria recording from my phone while sitting at the drums. Easy. Convenient. Awesome.
Also, I second the request for a simple assignable knob widget. Seems that there are a number of FX apps where there are really one or two parameters that I want to be able to adjust up or down from whatever other app I'm in. And MiMix is a perfect knob use case, since I never want to be in MiMix, but I love what it provides in terms of setting the relative levels of instruments going out though a common interface. Would be very happy to see a small square of 4 knobs show up in ABR, possibly with accompanying mute/solo buttons.
This is nice! Congrats! Not sure if has been mentioned, but I can definitely see some sort of usefulness for a midi learn feature in the future to be able to trigger remote buttons.
Some of the suggestions here are pointing towards something like the functionality of the Octatrack's crossfader on the Audiobus Remote screen, with ability to map multiple apps' parameters.
Ok, I'll fourth this.
As far as I know the developer of Samplr now works for Apple. Explains why he doesn't have too much time on his hands to update Samplr.
I bought it and it works fine, I have to say I'm not bowled over with it as such, but i can see it's future usage as being significant - once a lot of developers take it up.
I have images of Logic for iPad w/ Samplr as the onboard sampling instrument.
iOS9 is certainly going to be interesting. Apple bought Camel Audio, they have the Samplr guy. There's a massive, Logic-shaped hole in the iPad's music app library. Surely something is coming.
I'm not sure the Samplr guy is working on audio at Apple.
If Apple actually makes an iPad Pro, then Logic for iPad is a pretty certain bet, I'd say.
I'm still marginally surprised they haven't aqui-hired the AB team.
And I'll be first in the queue!
@Sebastian Well, it's a safe bet he ain't in the mail room!
it showed up this morning. I could see it from my computer yesterday, just not on my phone.
Anyway, bought it. :-)
Thanks
Apple should at least send you guys a commission. My iPad 3 was just fine until this app made it so much easier to use elaborate configurations. Now I'm constantly hitting CPU limits and this thing is looking more and more like my mother's next iPad.
One quibble. I use the phone as my remote and it doesn't take too long before enough apps are open to cause the buttons to scale down to an unmanageable size. I know this is probably a necessary feature to make it a universal app, but it would be nice to have the option to minimize app sections to a single row and/or scroll up/down. Some apps are going to go a little crazy with the buttons, and I don't want it to instantly render the remote useless. For example, if I want to use DM1 just to run some drumloops, I don't want it's tiny little pads forcing everything else down in size.
None of this is a real problem yet, due to my aforementioned CPU shortcomings, but it's something for you to chew on while Mom awaits her new/old device. Thanks much!
@aaronpc. +1
Playing with DM1 triggers is fun, but I imagine that I would mostly just want Play/Pause. I think as a matter of policy each app should supply a single row version (app switch, on/off, maybe one knob) and a full layout (drum pads, individual loopy triggers etc), with a little collapse/expand button for each app.
I hope they don't go for collapsible menu system on remote as then you'll start to have the fiddly control issues again.
'collapsing' & 're-arranging' apps in the remote.app would be nice to avoid scrolling. (I use just a few apps at once so it's not yet an issue).
