  • It really has nothing to do with Intua.

It must indubitably be AahSoul! — a connection of all the words in all languages, with hidden markov model stochastic analysis biased by remembered-strength overlays. The directed network generated by the bias overlays in response to historical semantic weighting of prior sensory experience gives a strongly connected component and this makes it appear sentient (you know, the same way our consciousness works). The result is an app – AahSoul! — that you can give a time signature to (or accept its own suggestion), suggest a song structure (or accept its own suggestion) and ask it to generate a song about a certain subject, via certain other subjects, and concluding in a certain feeling and result (or accept its own suggestion). This is then rendered as words in the chosen language (or accept its own suggestion) and sent as a SMPTE timecode lyric and EmotionML channel to any number of speech singing synthesisers.

Sebastian Yeah I did't mean to take it out of context, I just remember thinking it was a great line and it was my first thought when reading the "...something to do with Intua" line above.

I remember that old post too - because of that great line.

I'm a snowboarder too - so I got how it was meant immediately. And i'm definitely in the 'snowboarder' camp too when it comes to my attitude to things :).

  • Oh go on then I give up, you can tell me, I promise I won't tell anyone else :-)

    So obvious. I knew this.

    Spoiler Alert

It is an extension that allows for a different display of the Audiobus strip in the host apps.

If you have many apps connected, the icons can now be displayed in a 4 x 4 grid, and the fun bit is that you can move the icons around and play THREES with it

That is an awesome idea. It could be taken further too, like a floating bar etc.

    You started the rumours! ;-)

Floating... like a Hoverboard. Hmmm. It
    is 2015 after all.

  • OK, so it requires a compatible app to be using the latest build with the 'bug fixes'...This implies that whatever the add on app is it will be using the existing functionality in AudioBus, so either audio streams or app state.
If this assumption about the 'bug fixes' is correct then I think the most likely things would be
    DJ Mixer of some sort,
or random patch generator (Less likely as this would involve more knowledge of the individual apps in terms of allowable values for parameters etc..)
or a Visualisation app to generate animations based on the audio stream.

It's not a DAW and it's not midi sync. All it is is a plug in that will allow to bypass/mute/solo apps from the audiobus panel. Plus maybe a routing upgrade.

  • Yep, I'm thinking it will be add-on for more complex routing and control features. I will most likely buy, use, and love it from day one. I would really be happy if it has some sort of MIDI controls, even though not related to MIDI sync.

  • edited July 2015

A kind of MIDI controller where you can configure your own layout, routing everything as you like, asign any compatible app via MIDI learn, asign any compatible effect to some kind of XY touchpads, randomizer (just for fun) recording section...Am I forgotting something?

That's the second Back to the Future reference in this thread.

    Yup.

but I'm not so sure now...

  • After thinking about it a bit, I'm thinking that it may be a way to integrate another device within a set up. So that people can play/record into the same daw at the same time. Collaborations can be fun. :-) We know this--they have been working for quite a while on inter-device communications within the app. It was supposedly secret, but it has been mentioned by the team a few times over the years. With low latency bluetooth and wired audio/midi connectivity already existing, it is within the realm of possibility. My guess is Inter-device Audiobus connectivity of some sort. (I know it's been mentioned before in this thread, but @Sebastian has ruled out the longed-for iOS MIDI unification, so this seems likely now). Also, it would make sense that instrument developers would have to have the capability added to their apps to be a remote node within Audiobus.

    It's.......Vip

  • I love that red herring etymology.

  • I totally dig the customizable side panel hoverboard thingy!

  • @audiojunkie Audio over wifi was part of alpha or beta Audiobus before 1.0 was even released. I think it will be fun when this is eventually added. and useful... hmmm

Nice one. I forgot about that! But why would other apps need to update?

  • edited July 2015

for some of Seb's magic sauce and Mic's gold dust, of course.

or... maybe the new SDK would need a toggle for specifying destination iOS device

  • it's a drum sampler ⁽(◍˃̵͈̑ᴗ˂̵͈̑)⁽

  • How do you feel @Sebastian ?

  • It's an update to fix 2.1.16 update lol :-)

  • Anyone know the internal specs of Audiobus? Is 32bit or 64bit?

  • Hmtx mentioned Seb's magic sauce - I'm hoping for a Magic Sauce App!

  • Maybe @Sebastien can give another hint. Is it something one would use in an everyday-type recording scenario? Or more of a novelty thing - fun to use on occasion?

  • It looks to me like everyday improvements, but more fun than just some behind the scene fixes.

  • Well I'm glad somebody's finally trying make IOS music fun! All these years of tedious bland apps was getting to me! Kidding. Seriously IOS music is probably the most fun way to get music made (short of two weeks at Abbey Road studios) (lunch included). We are filled with colorful interesting great sounding apps, many of which could not exist on other formats, and 99% of them are here because of what Sebastian and Michael have accomplished. My guess is it's a bunny that hops from app to app and there's a button that makes shiny balloons come out somewhere, not out of the bunny.
