  • Would it be feasible (ie. relatively easy) to transfer DrumPerfect's kits, layers and all, into this? Would Patterning's velocity options recognise/play the relevant lower velocity samples or play loudest sample quieter? If not are there some accoustic kits included with the 64 you get? Really want this app but want to know if it has any rawk/accoustic possibilities.

  • @Peteclag nope, but if you have the samples themselves, you could load them. There are a few acoustic kits -- my favorite is Evan Hashi's kit -- it sounds awesome. We'll be putting up demos of all the kits on our instagram and/or vimeo in the next couple of days/weeks.

  • @peteclag does drumPerfect accept MIDI in? cause that would be an option -- Use Patterning to send MIDI to drum perfect!

MMMmmyah I have been looking forward to trying this as I love the drumperfect sounds but found the interface difficult. It send seperate iaa outs to cubasis too! Gonna be some dubby polyrythmic chaos in my future I hope!

  • Just bought Patterning!
    Very very nice!!

But, just now i'll must leave home and take me to my dayjob... Pity...

Much love to Ben for this groovie app!

  • Thanks for this awesome app !

  • Has anybody tried it on iPad2?

  • The App specs say its recommended for iPad 3 and newer

  • @yug some of my beta testers were on iPad 2, and they didn't complain, but having not tried it myself, I thought I should be safe. If you want to give it a go, I won't fault you if you ask for a refund if it's not going well.

I have an iPad3, runs good. Can switch the kits on the fly with no hiccups with complex pattern playing. Have not tried recording in AB yet so we shall see. The iPad 3 is almost the same as ipad2.

  • Available in U.S. Store and it's not even midnight. Follow @hacked_to_pieces link above. Very inspirational app! Thanks @benkamen

Just got it here in Minnesota. Note - sometimes with app releases it won't show up as a search but will show up if you click on "Olympia Noise Co." and see the available apps. Do a search for Ondes and click the developer name to see if it appears.

I pulled the trigger on iPad2, despite the recommendation. (Haven't tested the app yet). Performance on iPad2 vs. iPad3 isn't all that different, plus I have an upgrade in my somewhat near future. I really can run pretty much any of the synth apps in isolation just fine. Most drum machines do pretty good. It's really just when you combine things and get AB and a DAW involved that issues can creep up, but this is 4-year-old hardware, so yeah. Don't mind supporting this product even if it doesn't work ideally at first on my device.

    Congrats on the launch!

  • Sweet, available now on the West Coast USA.

  • Happy Patterning Day everyone!

Great app.. Been playing for the last hour. Any chance we'll have the ability to import groups of samples? At least to the user folder, if not into the current pattern? Maybe create our own kits (with images)?

hmmmm looks like with cubasis i have to run it first outside of cubasis then add it after. No biggee. But man this is awesome! Only thing I wish i could do was have a sort of pitch random layer. But yah, cant wait to load up my own samples. thanks guys!

  • @benkamen Got the app this morning and have been playing around with it for some time now. It's pretty darn sweet but a few questions did pop up...

    • How can i manually rotate the circles? (Tried to do 'two finger touch-rotate' but no go).

    • How can I trigger/preview/play/rec the sounds without drawing them in a pattern? (This could also be usefull when adjusting the saple-start). Tried to tap and double-tap on the sound-select rings on the left side of the screen and some other ways too but no go...

So far I like it a lot :)

You can import folders from Audioshare via iCloud import option.

@benkamen Congrats on release! Is it possible to delete user samples? Can samples be reversed?

Wishlist item: snap to transients and/or beat divisions with sample editor's start marker ... I know it's intended more as a one-shot drum device, but it seems to hold potential for wide versatility, and actually handles up to four-bar loops quite easily with the 64 steps.

Clever implementation of sample gain control on the editor (tap, hold and slide finger vertically).

    Thanks for those mute groups!

  • @Samu both of those things are on my "1.1" list. (There's at least a version 1.0.4 version before that!)

@parallaxobject I think reverse is somewhere in the code and I just need to turn it on :) I'll add to the 1.1 list. Deleting samples will be in 1.0.4 -- had to take it out temporarily while I sort out something.

  • Nicely done. I see this app is going to result in a good time sink over the weekend.

Co-sign on needing a way to delete user samples.

  • I'm totally floored!
Thanks for all the thought and hard work guys! This App has totally set the bar higher! It's the new standard!

    PERIOD.

  • Proof my words! I am no more a mattress guy!

  • I've spent 3 minutes with it. It's the most bestest app evar. :) Nah, looks and feels good so far. Really liking the kits, makes it seem like it's own instrument. I always like that, when an app or VST plug-in feels like a unique instrument.

  • @benkamen When You enable the 'reverse' in 1.1 please make it 'per step' :)

Another suggestion for automatable parameter would be the sample-start in % of sample lenght. (I'm 'damaged' from using the sample-offset command in 'Trackers' like Renoise).

I really do like the 'clean' design of the app.

  • Any way to play the sample in the browser when changing the sample? Doesn't appear to be. That's the one and only bugaboo for me so far.

I haven't found a way, but I would really like this as well.

  • @benkamen
really, really nice app. I love it when interfaces simply invite to explore and mostly explain themselves. phantastic concept, great design. full of nice surprises, too, and a pleasure to use. i'm very impressed!

one thing I'm missing in song mode is a large circular play/pause button like the other large buttons at the bottom. ( a duplication of the small one in the top bar)
