  • Lil' feature request ... is it possible to add unzip like the files app has?

Ladies and gentlemen :D I freaking did it. I fixed the sample chain export. Not only does it work... I've put ALL THE SAMPLES users have sent, in a single crate (mono, stereo, 32bit, 24bit, 48khz, 44khz) AND IT WORKS :D and it's fast.

I need to polish the code a bit and fix the gap silence between the files and I'll let you know when the update will be up.

    Thanks for the support!

    Hell yeah!

  • Muchas gracias! 😎

@alecsbuga Awesome and congrats on the sample chain achievement

I’m having a hard time doing drag and drop in slide over view with DS1. Unfortunately Digistix 1 doesn’t support screen split, just slide over, so I opened up your app in slide over view, with DS1 on screen, created a kit in the crate, but I can not get it to drag and drop 1 sample at a time, or all the samples. When I try to drag 1 sample it doesn’t move, if I export crate it grabs all 16 samples in the crate but Digistix 1 only recognizes 1 sample in the crate at a time. So is this a DS1 issue ? Is it possible to drag and drop 1 sample at a time from the crate, in slide over view?

As typing I was trying things…

Ok actually I created a folder and moved the entire crate into the folder, then drag and dropped the samples 1 by one into DS1. All the samples stayed in the same order but none of the original names of the files stayed the same, they had all changed to Waveform Audio, Waveform Audio (1), Waveform Audio (2),… and so on… here’s 2 photos.

Pic 1 is the new folder I created with all the files but with different file names

Pic 2 is in slide over, me attempting to drag and drop individual samples, and DS1 response.

That was quick, great work! Thank youuuuu

Could I also add a quite small feature request to the list? Would it be possible to display the total length of the sample chain somewhere? Most hardware samplers have hard limits on sample length so would be SUPER helpful if it's relatively easy to implement.

Good idea. My MPC 1000 with 128 mb though, has plenty :D

PS: I'm exporting chains into my Dirtywave M8 and it's super dope! I love my app :))

It's a generic issue for apps that support DROP from other apps. They don't handle multiple URLs. Koala does the same. Or BM3.

As typing I was trying things…

That's how DS1 imports and renames them probably. Not me.

I'll get the app and try it myself. But try holding longer and then drag the export button.
Maybe I'll make 2 buttons? one for drag and one for export? I'll see if it's better.

ANyway what device do you have? I don't like how those texts are squishing in there. Do you use larger fonts or smth?

  • Good job at fixing the sample chain! 🙌
My question still stands… I’m very curious 🤓

    @tahiche said:
Man, I’ve been meaning to ask this for a while and this a great opportunity. Why do you need to insert silence between samples?.

  • So they're evenly spaced so you can chop the chain into equal regions

    iPad 6 from 2018 9.7 inch screen, 128gb on iOS 15.1

that’s the stock/default iPad font size. I was in landscape mode. Had Digistix 1 open and pulled up sample crate from the bottom to put into slide over mode.

Thanks for the help. I’ll give it a try. I think separate buttons might make it more intuitive. But I think either way would be fine.

I want to get DS2 too soon, so curious about that as well.

  • You don’t have to get the app just for this… but totally your call.

  • Doug has another, shorter (11 mins) demo:

  • @alecsbuga
any ETA on srubbing/pause? I use it mainly to flip through longer files/mixes, but without scrubbing...
    And how about background audio?
    cheers

I focused this week on fixing that damn sample chain export.

I have seeking on my list as the next "major" thingie.
As for background audio, why would you need it?

I was also wondered why adding silence is necessary. This makes sense, however I thought the sample chain actually left marker metadata in the wav?

My main hardware sampler is the ALM Squid Salalmple which has a hard limit of 11s per sample. If the sample chain does leave market metadeta, would it be possible to have the equal spacing with silence as an option as opposed to the default? 11s gets eaten up QUICK when using cue sets so would like to save those prescious milliseconds lol

As you have probably guessed I have little understand of the coding side so if this is a stress to implement, please don't worry about it. The app is already amazing and your responsiveness is super appreciated 😀

Background audio will come in handy after you add the “Play Folder” & “Shuffle Play Folder” buttons.
    😉 🤞

You want to listen to a full folder of samples play in the background? 🤔 ... Why? Lol

Or are you trying to use sample create as a music player?

  • I am running an iPad with 14.8 and when I go to the app store it says that this app runs on my iPad.

Do you really need iOS 15 or will it run on 14.8?

  • @alecsbuga said:

Browsing thee web for new gear while listening to last nights awesome mixes... B)
Tbh, it is not my main wish, but scrubbing would be handy.
    Looking forward to it.
    cheers

Yup, sorry, it takes too much work to make it run on 14. Will do an assessment of that over the weekend.

Making an option for that is quite easy.
As for markers? not sure how to put in that metadata, but would be useful for my OP-1 also.
Imagine building OP-1 drum chops with Sample Crate :D

    😍

  • Sample markers would be great! Saves a step for sample chains. Pretty sure that they are just metadata on the wav files, so theoretically possible to add at the end of each sample.

I’ve got tons of samples sorted by key, this could be a budget “Riffer” infinity button on my own samples. 😏

Sweet. Any chance you could add .rar as well. Audioshare doesn’t unpack rar’s so you need another app. If it’s not to much trouble that be dope, if not, no biggie zip is the big one.
