Yeah, it's all or nothing. I discovered it afterwards and thought it was fun but apparently it's not :))
It was a good reminder to open up the app though :)

  • Aaaand it’s live. Wow App Store was blazing fast. Like this morning I’ve submitted it and it’s 1:30 pm here. Happy holidays everyone and thanks for the support!

  • Damn. It seems crate pads don’t take into account the playback volume on my phone.

Expect a bug fix update :)
It does work when browsing samples though

    Thanks for trusting :)

  • @alecsbuga : it would be great if one could drag/drop from individual SampleCrate pads to other apps rather than only the full crate.

    Thanks for a great app.

  • Great update!

@alecsbuga probably you know… when sample is deleted it disapear, but after a second it shows again in a list view, and in next half second it is again gone…. so list chanes twice , and not as would be more fast only one… its making all deleting process slower, as user must wait until „ghost” will disapear too, to be able precisely select next sample on the list (to listen and eventually delete again). I hope my description is clear. Is this user error or normal behaviour of the app?

No I didn't know about it. I use whatever Files app provides. Does that behave the same?

I noticed I have some tagged files in kits in Files / SampleCrate, and somehow they're not always visible.

    thanks for the update!

Yeah, I'll do that when I fix the DRAG button on ios 16 also.

All the file management part is handled by iOS. Unfortunately I can't do anything about it.
Does it do the same on Files app ?

  • @alecsbuga
What a fast rollout! I was looking forward the volume control, but either in loopy (sideview) or standalone it isn’t possible to independently control the volum. Is that because of the usb-c connection to an interface?? That’s how I use my setup.

IMO its related to Player. For example: when I scroll and not playback file, but directly I slide left to delete, there is no „ghost” after.
But when I playback first, there is small period of time until the file is free. If I delete file just after playback , the file is showing again , but If I wait some seconds, file will not apoear after deleting.

  • Oh. Well It makes sense. You can’t delete it while it’s in use.

  • PSA: Another update is pending approval.
    • Fixes garbled sound on complex midi files
    • Fixes MIDI files not being stopped while playing another wav file on top of it
    • Fixes crate pads volume. It was ignoring the playback volume.

  • Please could You add a highlight to the selected file from the file list? Right now it just briefly flashes gray when you tap on it. Would be nice if it stayed highlighted with gray until you tap on another one.

Yeah, it would be but not sure if iOS lets me. Will check.

  • can anyone confirm my custom icons disappear when you disable them?
on my phone it took about a day and a restart to get rid of the cached icons.

If not then perhaps the ability to drag the file out from the little sound preview player rectangle at the bottom. The point is - if I have samples with long but similar names then it’s hard to know which one you clicked on on the list when quickly clicking through sounds and previewing them. A visual indicator would be nice or perhaps a pull and drag action from one of the elements in the preview (maybe the name of the sample?)

Most of mine changed back to default right away but some seemed to stay cached for a while. About a day for those here as well.

  • one thing that can make sample crete much better would be to able to select all at once and tag what ever i search for,
for example let say on the search bar i search kicks, which will list all the files with kick on their name, so It'll be great to have a select option to select all of them at once or a selected group and tag them under kicks the same for anything else, like snares, claps, hihat, open hat ect it will make everything so much quicker instead of doing it one by one or adding them to the crete one by one, because if i have thousands of kicks, snares, hihats or ect, that would take me forever just trying to make a tag group for each of them

I still have a lot of files that have your icon. I turned it off as soon as the update came out.

im new to this app so is it a bad thing to have the audio files to have the sample crate icon attached to them ?

Not a bad thing, I just like to have them all blue in the normal files app.

I'm planning to submit a beta to Apple for TestFlight next week.
But I need to prep the icon, marketing shit... because they need to approve it.

This is very useful Alecs! Any chance you could add functionality to demo ogg files?

I see what you mean. From the search results you can't select multiple. Yeah, it's the way iOS works unfortunately.
But what I usually do (because I keep my samples in iCloud) is tag them via desktop. And they sync to iOS. A bit flakey but they work.

But I usually use packs. And I know which kind of kicks I want. I find that hitting a tag "KICKS" and shuffling through my whole lib is daunting & exhausting, but yeah, I see the value in that.

The Files app also does this for me when deleting files stored in iCloud Drive, could be what's happening here?

PS. @alecsbuga I love the orange icons.

Yeah. I use the code provided by Apple for file management. I just added on top of it.

  • Hey @alecsbuga, just checking you didn’t miss my earlier post - do you think ogg file support would be possible? I’ve heard it might be quite tricky
