    Hey there, I woke up this morning with something in my head and tried to play it first on my IPhone for the generic idea then finalized it on Ableton. One of these day where “the flow” catch you the whole time. Hope you like it

    Firstly sorry for not replying sooner — I could have sworn I’d already posted but couldn’t find my reply.

    Good track. I like the backing and the main melody is strong. In places the vocals are very realistic but some of the glides and upper ranges sound a little unnatural. I’d personally reign in the overall pitch range of the vocals and keep them in narrower space.

    With a touch more restraint I probably wouldn’t have guessed it was a synthetic vocal!

    The pace of development with synthetic/AI vocals is frankly quite frightening!

    @DavidEnglish your instruments are always so expressive, amazing. Did you ever make a track which has a more dynamic pace? Not complaining, just curious because I like your style and I was wondering if you also explored other territories and how.

    I tend to play too fast, so I purposely slow down the improvisations. Bitwig Studio make its very easy to try out different speeds for MIDI playback. I'll routinely scale it up or down in 5% increments until it sounds about right. The slower speeds just seem to suit the notes better.

    Haven't felt the need to go faster, but that could always change in the future.

    Smooth and easy-going instrumentals contrasted with heart-felt breakup lyrics. Polished production with especially strong vocals.

    @yellow_eyez
    Relaxed tune with churning guitar underneath. Feels like a tasty pot of stew that’s simmering on the stove. Smells good and is likely to pull a gathering crowd from the next room.

    @BillS
    Love how the instrumentation changes, grows, and develops as the song moves through its thoughtful lyrics. Wistful and resolute, while seeking solace in resolution.

    @klownshed
    A big ambitious piece that paints an open landscape that’s mostly bare but with darkly intense crags and fissures. Dramatic and deeply physical. An intriguing soundscape.

    @squeals
    Quirky song that’s wonderfully focused around Michael Caine. It’s like a tiny planet orbiting an oddly flickering star. I enjoyed the unexpected journey.

    @RonnieOmelettes
    Cool tune with a very fine Zulu chorus. The cherry on top is the masterful inclusion of Summertime’s opening notes. I half expected a voice quote from Billie Holiday or Lena Horne (similar to the one from Michael Caine) to close out the song.

    @unlink
    Terrific bass solo goes off into what almost sounds like a DIY junkyard-electronics orchestra. Shifts again to a piano accompanied by wide-ranging percussive instruments. A wonderfully open and exploratory song that follows the instruments and resulting sounds wherever they may lead.

    @Kmatic
    [Spotify wouldn’t let me play it without an account, which I don’t have.]

    @cuscolima
    Strong vocals with encompassing instrumentals. Wall-to-wall sound that could fill a large hall. Wraps around your head.

    @studs1966
    Super polished song, as usual. Terrific dance music professionally produced.

    @AlexY
    Odd voice that is squarely in the middle of an uncanny valley. I like the melody and overall tune. but do think a robotic voice would be a better fit for it.

    @JanKun
    Alternately frenetic, driving, and soaring. Feels like a throwback to the 1960s. Love how everything seems to change midway only to circle back. Intimate, yet epic. Neo-Retro-French-New-Wave? Was that Jean Seberg I saw sitting there in the audience waving her arms?

  • @AlexY yeah I like the suggestion. I think it does need a thickening agent to bind things together a bit.
    @unlink sorry thought I’d replied but the lens up must have kicked in (always sick this month grrr)
    yeah, panning partly down to being stuck in bed with headphones, possibly due to using a certain plugin (will investigate.) but mostly just due to my own laziness in the creation stage and my adhd in the mixing stage. But will take this on board going forward with it. Thank you
    @DavidEnglish thank you so much, ‘orbit’ my mates just offered me a ticket to orbital 5 minutes ago. Sorry, my heads a bit quirky as well for words and connections. Or this batch of lemsip has kicked in. 😂 thanks for the kind words. Glad you enjoyed it.
