Audiobus is going to a new home! Forum is staying

I don’t use Loopy Pro so I think it’s a bit weird and not covering what we all do, what is electronic music making or making music with the help of electronics. But whatever gets the most most votes.
touch.it 😂
(For context, Shane Meadow’s imho best film A Room for Romeo Brass has a immortal scene with Paddy Considine attempting to woo Romeo’s sister in the worst possible way…)
Great choice, I like it! In a way, it’s Audiobus upgraded. Win! 🤩

Most of us don’t actually use Audiobus any more or ever did, given the alternatives today
I have Loopy Pro since the beginning and keep the app up to date but I honestly have yet to ever do a single thing with it!
It’d be good to have a thing [1] catering for people who have bought an app long ago and ignored it for whatever reason, to coax them into familiarity with it
[1] article, rather than video, probably needs multiple entry points with one exit (a working familiarity with what you bought all those years ago and ignored) – maybe the world needs truly interactive documents for this sort of thing (and education as a whole)
True about most of us don’t use Audiobus, but the Audiobus forum evolved into something way bigger. That is something else than start fresh with a new name for the community as it is right now. Loopy Pro is weird, as would Drambo or any app name. It should be a name covering the community as it is right now and not the name of an app.

Maybe a Loopy Pro sale to coincide with the new forum, to lure in those of us that know we don’t need it, but would gladly spend £20 to support and maybe learn to love it. Yeah I’m cheeky lol
I think he was making a play on words mainly, Samu, it was a joke. We're loopy (crazy) pros (professionals, likely said tongue in cheek as we're mainly amateurs). That's my take anyway!
Nice, the best possible choice I think.
Loopy and Loopy Pro is a great music app, really great, but, I have all iterations of Loopy and it’s IAP, but sadly never use Loopy…
It feels nice to buy apps just to support great developers although you don’t have intensions to use them for now…
What I want to say is that I don’t like the new forum name…
In the same time, the AB forum way back to 2012-2013 was about the groundbreaking app Audiobus, but has evolved to a worldwide community with Apple users in almost every continent in the world!
So, Michael is the boss here, and he wants this name, but I think it’s the wrong forum name if we wanna be a forum for both users and app developer other than Loopy app…
I thought the iOS audio community evolved because of Michael and Audiobus. He is respected by the majority of developers on the platform. LoopyPro definitely is not a neutral name, but the Audiobus protocol is going in a different direction, and Apple deprecated Inter-App Audio a long time ago.
I'm not saying this just to flatter Michael, I'm not an LP beta tester, barely even using the app (waiting for MIDI implementation) except for paying for upgrades regularly. But come on, it's the end of an era. Things will change, but forum neutrality will stay.
Loopy Pro is perfect.
If I understood correctly, the "AudioBus" and "LoopyPro" parts of this forum will stay with Michael, but be renamed to "LoopyPro Forum" and located at forum.loopypro.com
Could have been the LoopyBus forum, @Michael 🤗
And the parts of this forum about other Apps and other topics will go to different people with a different name and a different location. But that is yet unclear at it seems.
No, I don't think that is correct.
The AudioBus app goes to another developer.
The whole AudioBus Forum stays here with Michael but will have a name change.
I was confused by the missing "App" in the text "Audiobus is going to a new home", @Simon
I thought this was about the forum and splitting away other content about non-Michael Apps.
I am surprised to learn that Michael will give away his trusted central App to other people.
He is not giving it away, he is selling it.
His main app now is Loopy Pro.
It won't be like that - this forum will remain exactly as it is now, it's just the name that will change. Michael is selling the ownership of the Audiobus app, not this forum or any parts of it. So it's not a big change at all really.
Yes correct... but this somehow soothes my soul, as I'm now, as a non-native speaker, making jokes so idiomatic that they have to be explained to other non-native speakers by native speakers 😂
That reminds me, the new forum should probably be at
gamechangiers.audio
This resonates well with me. It’s Michael’s forum after all and it is only logical that the name follows his path. Gone with the old, in with the new.
My vote is on The Loopy Pro Forum as well.

Loopypro.com
Well deserved. Loopy and Audiobus started this wave of innovation so, I’m perfectly okay with either or.
Seriously, @Michael, thanks for giving so many musicians, iPad owners, iPhone users, Android, Arduino, Raspberry Pi, PC, Macs, and many more OS’s (Vision Pro for example) a reason to tinker again.
Else, our devices would have sat there as YouTube watching machines. Or Subway Surfers simulations…
Wherever this new journey takes you, we wish you great success. But we are so thankful for all you’ve done and this labour of love you’ve blessed and enriched our lives with.
Thanks again!!!
❤️
Cool, I’m glad a decision has been made. And it’s fitting that @Michael can promote Loopy Pro, considering his generosity in hosting this forum, and for transforming the platform with Audiobus in the first place. 🙏
Okay, okay…. Just for heaven’s sake don’t do a big upgrade and change Loopy Pro’s name to Loopy ProPro X version 12 or something!
Big changes are tough on us old birds…
Mobil Music Community?
Ingesting the whole of forum.audiob.us ChatGPT came back with the suggestion Mobile Music Makers (Forum), MMM.
I thought that made perfect, logical sense.
Y’all are so funny. Given Michael already owns LoopyPro.com and knows how ABF aided sales of Audiobus over the years, without too much confusion, I think he intended it to be the Loopy Pro Forum all along.
It makes no sense for new people, young people, search or SEO but the decision isn’t based on those things.
The redirect will be more fundamental than the name, but sad not to get it right second time around, and take into account more modern practices.
Sorry not to be a smoke blowing positive pictures of cats person but isn’t different opinions what makes a forum interesting and diverse? 🐈⬛ 💨
Just chipping in here. Most of the content on this (really highly valued) site is about iPad apps and music making in general rather than Audiobus specifically. Presumably this is just a historical accident? However, if the new forum is named after Loopy Pro we will be deliberately recreating that historical accident for no obvious reason!
Wouldn't it make sense to have a forum referencing Loopy Pro that was actually for specifically discussing Loopy Pro (which I assume would be both desirable and beneficial to it's users) and a separate forum for iPad apps and music making more generally. MagicMusicBus as suggested by @NeuM or something similar? The separate site could have a permanent link/pinned post on Loopy Pro to support @Michael's business model etc
I’m very late to this thread, but I don’t understand the naming decision. I know a lot of people use Loopy Pro, but it can’t really be that dominant, can it? Just taking a look at the first couple pages of recent threads, LP is hardly the most-discussed subject.
I don’t have strong opinions on alternatives. I’m very inventive in that regard. Something along the lines of “mobile music”, or whatever.
But Loopy Pro specifically and so emphatically?
So, you’re suggesting that, as well as being kind enough to pay for this forum to be hosted, Michael should also pay for a separate Loopy Pro forum?
‘Deliberately recreating that historical accident’ could just as easily be ‘honoring the site’s origins’, couldn’t it?
The point is that this site is paid for by Michael. He originally created Audiobus, hence this site was set up as the Audiobus Forum. Now that he’s sold Audiobus, he’s changing the name of the forum to the Loopy Pro Forum because that app is now his developing focus.
The name isn’t meant to imply that the most talked about app here is Loopy Pro (Drambo already has its own forum anyway!).
By the way, personally, i don’t own Loopy Pro (sorry @Michael, I’m sure I’ll get it one day!).
