So, I got STRNG- ran it thru all of my midi generators and it all sounded like shit, unless I use an actual controller. weird right?

So I loaded it up in MidiStep and it sounds absolutely incredible. I'm not certain why midisteps excelled where the other generators failed.

I haven't tried it in Harmonicer yet- but anyone have a similar experience with STRNG? Like I was super dissapointed, until I heard it in midisteps. Maybe it's hard to get lush sounds with it, I dunno. I usually use MODAL for string stuff.

MidiStep is the most sensical seq/arp plugin I've ever seen / missed a deal for. Maybe that's why. 😆

Seems like strng excels at long attack curve + dist... At least to get away from the basic FruityLoops pluck tone.

I’ve never gotten s t r n g to sound good lol. Everytime I open it I end up disappointed again. Kind of just let it gather digital dust at this point.

If you have Harmonicc ( @cem_olcay ) it sounds good in it with strum. I think STRNG / MIDIstep sounds so good because of all of the parameter mods it has.

At this point, I have amassed a slew of industrial / noise makers and sequencers and really craving some actual music . Lol

I'm sure you meant Fugue Machine rather than Figure, but I get bummed out when I'm reminded of Figure because it's such a fun app and it could have been great with a song mode and proper export options.

Amazing to think that Figure came out 12 years ago. But it is still in the app store and is now free.

    Figure history here.

Not sure if people are aware but Beatonal is a better figure. Still no song mode and hasn’t been updated for 7 years but works well. Can have up to 4 bars.

Yea it’s basically the flushed out version of figure. I unlocked Beatonal a long time ago. Good call on the mention.

Speaking of esoteric, I was hoping to get Moloch Vox and that other esoteric synth shit dude has. The design reminds me of those custom midi controllers on Etsy.

    I'll post some STRNG w/ Harmonicc X'amples

    Here is said X:

Here is STRNG w/Midistep. Just hit random and tweaked string tension.

It sounds so much better, both example are just stock StRnG with the two generators. triggering strummed chords is where strng seems best.

I look at it as an industrial string.

Update: Actually it sounds best with Autony. I'll post another example- but sound much better than the onboard keyboard. The controls are kinda weird, a lot like k-devices controls.

Look at AUtony running like a pro:

Here is the apesoft accordion layerd with it:

Is it AuV3 now? Doesn't say in the app store description.

More often than not, I'll cook up a really cool 4 bars or whatever, have no idea how I got there, look under the hood and see the mess of wires and dubious chains, name the song "testtttttt", close it and back away slowly, and never open it again.

  • That ferromagnetic app seems cool for 2 bucks. I trip to it

Really isn't well designed, even for what it is. Hard to play, poorly calibrated envelope, etc. Sad consolation prize for missing the tardigrain sale, lol. Gawd I wish I would just watch a Doug vid before buying something. That's what he's there for!

$9 total in pointless trinkets isn't too bad I guess for the season, though I should've taken the forum's advice and just bought one cool thing like MidiStep, or for gawd sakes Hilda.

  • You're not alone brother. You'll make a banger with it one day and chuckle or violently rage at the irony of this silly lil fkr.

We'll get a good sale on the flip side

You can do cool things with s t r n g! Get some awesome percy plucks and pads. Play the high and low end of the keyboard on each tweak you make and they will be a lot different.
Tighten the strings, mess with the noise length until its a tight pyramid and add some delay , it can do some cool sounds but it isn’t the best app he made. Shape synth is a great one tho

Set it up like this and play octave 5/6 and its nice n clicky, then play low octaves for some noisy dusty bassy piano

After that raise the attack a lil bit for some more cool keys
