  • The 'Transport Arrows' seem to work for previewing a selection, just need to stay away from playing the 'keyboard'.
All in all I'm happy Cubase now has a built in Sampler :)

  • Great update...however, I can't seem to find a way to play an IAA synth in order to sample it. I presume I'm missing something obvious.

I created a new MiniSampler instrument. Assigned Tera. But once I've hit record I can no longer switch to Tera to play a note. Can anyone help point me in the right direction?

  • I'm personally not surprised by the update being free but since the sampler could have easily been an IAP....thanks

Ok, I'm getting there slowly. It seems you have to either swipe to the synth app or navigate via the home button to switch over once Cubasis is armed to record.

  • @xen love the notion of you stumbling through the weeds out there on point. Do keep us informed as to progress and watch out for snipers... :)

  • @LFS Something to keep in mind for future versions of Cubasis. Make it easier to select and delete multiple-files. The new 'cool' MicroSampler can easily create tons of files that can be a pain to delete one by one :)

  • The sampler is nice and all--really--I'm excited about it, but I'm really curious and excited to know how well Cubasis works as an IAA Node. This supposedly means that we can load Cubasis into Auria, Multitrack DAW, etc. as an instrument itself (Like how Thesys works). That's pretty cool stuff if you ask me. :-)

  • I'm at work right now, so I can't personally try it myself.... :-(

  • @JohnnyGoodyear

With the heatwave here in the UK it feels like I'm deep in the jungle somewhere.

I've just done the sensible thing and hook Animoog up via the Launchkey Mini. That makes things much easier and now I can quite happily say this is a really good addition for a free update. True to the spirit of the rest of Cubasis it is the simple way it works that makes the difference, setting the key range for instance. Hit record, play note, trim, drag slider to assign sample to a key range.

Watch out for iPad temp spikes reported by some closer to equator.

Just done a quick test with Auria and it seems to work ok.

I don't know about near the equator, but I nearly burnt my hands on the steering wheel of the car leaving work. It was 33C inside before the AC got things under control, that is damn hot for us.

John Walden from Music App Blog gave us a first review on 1.9.5.
    Read it here: http://www.musicappblog.com/cubasis-update-5/

  • Cubasis uninstalled at present, but can I afford 600mb when I have 3.6gb left..

Thinking I might export gadget stuff as experiment..anyone else do that?

  • @xen said:

Excellent!!! A match made in heaven!!!! :-D

  • Meh, deleted again..I'll stick with gadget. Settings and UI in cubasis gave me a headache and the sampler is too basic

  • Well that's the kids piggy bank emptied! :-)
Time for some head scratching ;-)

Haha yes, same here. Been stood with a hammer over the holiday pot for 2 hours. Do I, don't I? Gotta hurry up with a decision cos she's home at 7pm!

There is still enough in cubasis i think it's worth to criticise but the UI definitely comes not to my mind...and what's wrong with the settings??

  • Awesome update!

I have to say that after having spent 60 mins with Cubasis I've worked out everything but I have to say that Intua did damn fine job with UI which while confusing at first, never made me feel like an elephant in a cupboard. Cubasis feels very cramped (probably due to the mostly one page UI) so remains to be seen how much of an investment this has been.

Having said all that it is definitely good to have all these features under one roof. Feels like Garage Band Plus with all the icons etc. And yes, Gadget's sequencer is like a breath of fresh air in comparison.

  • Can someone test Cubasis with Cyclop, please?

Even if they are not connected, I can't get a sound out of Cyclop with Cubasis running.

I'm on a Mini 2, iOS 8.3 (finally slayed the demons and left 7.1.2 behind)

I'm glad I had to cycle to work today. Lush but pollution in Oxford in hot weather gets real bad.

  • I have to feel at home..cubasis don't feel like that

My first five minutes in gadget made me feel more at home than any other app to date

  • It's a good app, but I get the same feeling I did like with stroke machine..

Works fine here using Air 2 / iOS 8.3.

  • Does it still do a force quantize when quantize is turned off?

Thanks for testing. I've tried rebooting and reinstalling Cyclop. I can open Cyclop and its fine. But then when I open Cubasis the keyboard on Cyclop stops responding. The controls still respond in the Gui, but there is no sound. I've tried triggering it from an external controller, using Audiobus and also IAA in Cubasis. When I close Cubasis it starts working again ?!?

  • @Lars

It's ok, I've found the problem and fixed it.

Cubasis audio latency was set to 512 and Cyclop was set 256. Cyclop doesn't seem to adjust automatically so it just goes dead. Changing Cubasis to 256 brought Cyclop back to life.
