Great job 👏🏼
This is going to be super useful for me.
Great job @dendy for putting the effort in.
Excellent! Thanks for sharing!
A brief search suggests that both the desktop and iOS Link SDKs are dual-licensed, GPL by default, proprietary license by request.
With the Retromulator thing I went and checked the iOS vs GPL situation - it would appear the they are not mutually exclusive as often stated. There are major apps on the AppStore which are GPL (iirc Signal is one.)
Nope, Ableton specifically mentions desktop SDK should be not used on iOS becsuse of different livensing.
But i wrote to their helpesk and they replied and looks loke there will be way. Holding fingers ceossed and waiting for their reply.
Oh this is neat indeed.

Any feedback or ideas to improvement welcome !
This looks cool but I’m a little slow tonight. What’s the use case for this?
route audio from any AUv3 host to any other AUv3 host withing same device OR within any other devices in your local area network (which adds some siginificant latency though, that's ingerent flaw of this technology, so in my opinion not much usable). But withing same device looks flawlessly.
You have 2 plugins:
You can use as much senders and receivers instances as you want, in receiver you choose from which sender you receive audio stream.
additionally each plugin has mute button and gain knobs - fully automatable, and sender has buttom which stops audio stream going out of plugin into next plugin in chain where it was inserte (so it only sends audio to other receivers)
you get basically infinite audio routing in/out in your apps ecosystem :-)
Very cool way to get Note tracks into Loopy Pro (and other hosts).
Thanks for posting.
Awesome. Nice work, and thanks for explaining.
Very nice Dendy! So this also makes the LiveEffekt app redundant, right?
Well .. at least mine has some features on top, uses smoothing on mute (so no clicks, i noticed clicks in their app), it is (and always will be) fully free - no limits on number of channels .. but as i sad for full relese i need to either sort SDK licensing with Ableton Helpdesk (working on it) or wait for LinkKit to release Receiver support.
Until that i will keep at least beta still active.
Also first bugfix on the way
If anybody has ideas of improvements, features to add - i am all ears :-)
way to go @dendy
known bug - shame on me that i didn't implement properly wha i am criticising on other dews LOL .. but i tried to push this to beta as soon as possible and totally forgot this.
incompatible to transfer audio between hosts which are running in different internal sample rate (means you connect for example iOS DAW running on 48khz SR with desktoip ableton running on 96khz - you probably get broken audio)
this is not problem if you use it withing same device on iOS cause basically all DAWs are now respecting device sample rate.
fix will come soon (probably tomorrow)
So does this also make the Loopback plugin in this redundant?:
https://apps.apple.com/gb/app/kq-voice-plugins/id6450491216
Haven't used it in years, I think I remember that it had some limitations but can't remember what.
Thnx again Dendy!
I've posted online in various spots about this, so please don't restrict the number of ppl allowed on the beta Dendy 😂
The KQ voice plugin doesn't have anything in it for working across different devices.
Yes, but also on-device there's no advantage to Loopback now, is there?
not going to restrict anything but i think there is natural Apple limit 200 testers for basic DEV accoount .. i did not set any limit in settings ..
Carefull with too much relying on this one. It can always happen that i get kicked by Ableton even for this BETA for using that desktop SDK instead of iOS .. so .. for now .. it's ust BETA experiment. Until it is not officially in Appstore, nothing guaranteed.
Ah OK haha, annoying old Apple!
Thanks a lot!
Latency between apps on the same device is similar to the LoopBack plugin. Tested sending from GarageBand to Loopy Pro. The audio is distorted in Loopy Pro.
Seems like the limit is 10,000, please check and confirm Dendy, thnx

Yeah, I’d guess the commercial licenses are different for each SDK, but they can’t do those for the GPL option.
Getting some dropouts here, very simple on-device setup, massive buffer size too, 1024. Is anything set up wrong?:

Btw, note that it is very hard to read the AudioPipeline channel name in apeMatrix, but not in AUM
Are the sample rates the same? I had crackles in Live from AUM until I changed the rates.
hm.. on same device ? tryuing AUM -> LOOPY , sound is clear ..
