I think is a pragmatic businessman who sees Russia as a potential asset, not the other way around.

evil is just evil, there is no lesser evil, just like there is no such thing as reverse racism or reverse bigotry.... either you are against it and feel a certain way or you are making distinctions that don't exist. in other words A holocaust is a holocaust is a holocaust, no matter where it is, when it is, or by whom it is. That's where the beginning of credibility would begin and end in any conversation that wasn't about detraction. It's the nature of equality.

Yeah. So plenty of people believe plenty of dumb things. The ideology is irrelevant. The problem isn't whether people are left or right. It's whether they're politically literate and equipped (or willing) to recognise nonsense when they see it.
Myself, I think a lot of the more sensational stuff surrounding Trump is just a distraction. I mean there's plenty of real stuff to hold him accountable for (and I'm sure there will be in the coming years). No need to make stuff up. But that's partisan media for you. The fact that so many supposedly credible news outlets took their lead from BUZZFEED kinda says a lot about where we're at right now.
I personally was very interested when I began to hear donald trump and peers talk about not forgetting about working class americans who are having a hard time....until he and his party drew a distinction between real working class americans and minorities. Personally I wouldn't vote for someone who looked like me but refused to rent to someone who had a different pigmentation. I could never vote for someone like that.

Yeah of course. I just think calling it "left wing" this or even "right wing" that is just kinda...more fuel on the fire you know. Like I think it's totally right and proper to call out the extreme/regressive left on their nonsense. But I'm disappointed that 9/10 it has to come from right wing sources that neglect the worst of their own kind. And the same applies in the other direction. I've yet to see a high profile commentator or news source that's willing to call out BS wherever they find it. But I guess that's understandable; it's easier to play to your base, or to your market. It's certainly more sensationalist and in the end, profitable. But it's still annoying.
I used to actively identify as a "progressive liberal". But I'm so tired of some of the nonsense coming from my side, or even the idea that I should have to be on a side. Some Liberals have tried to own certain positions which really should just be filed under "common human decency". And some Conservatives are so loathe to agree with anything that comes out of a Liberal's mouth that they appear to be in direct opposition to said-decency.
Where's the middle ground man? It's so exhausting. Thank goodness I've got music to take my mind off it all...

The optimist in me wants to believe that this is a chance to reset, reflect and regroup. But I dunno. The Democratic party doesn't seem to have learned its lesson. The left wing media has gone full nuts, baying for war with Russia. And if I have to sit through one more cleverly written, eloquently delivered monologue by a Hollywood millionaire...I'll throw away all my electronic devices and go feral. Live off the grid. Scamper in the woods, foraging for berries and shit. Some days it's an appealing option haha.

if you understand the mechanisms of religion but don't treat all religions equally, or if you don't treat all people equally or make justifications for not treating people with equality then what is there left to base credibility on?

either christianity, or whatever-anity is as much garbage as islam or not, all you have to do is use the same judgement otherwise you are not judging equally...... either you think islam should be eradicated or you think 600 years from now that it will go nicely with our lattes and health juices.....or you think that all religions should be eradicated.
too many inconsistencies, you think there are grey areas just not when it comes to one religion. You believe in listening to what trump says in that video but not in videos where he's discriminatory.... and acted on his discrimination not only expressing ideas like in that video.... see what I'm saying. For anyone dumb enough to be following this thread, there's a simple way to see if someone expressing an opinion about Islam knows what they're talking about.
If they talk about Islam as if it's a single thing, they're don't. If they assume that all Muslims believe the same thing, they don't know what they're talking about.
Muslims don't agree on all topics any more than Christians do. Many Sunni Muslims believe that Shi'ites are apostates. Just as many Southern Baptists believe that Catholics aren't Christians (I've been told this to my face repeatedly, so noone be pretending that ain't a thing). Some muslims are very liberal in their beliefs, just like episcopalians. Others are very extreme in their beliefs, just like the dearly departed Reverand Ian Paisley. Some Muslims want a theocracy, just like some American Christians. Others believe passionately in social justice just like many American christians.
