Is this demo made on a Ipad Pro?

Yes, iPad Pro 2017, the smaller one

  • But it’s on iPhone as well.

You don't have to use Drambo sequencer. You can load/make a single instrument/fx rack and use it as an AUv3 instrument/fx in any DAW.

Oh my giddy aunt, I hadn't even thought of that. The video did mention AU3 but I forgot about it, getting wrapped up in the functionality of it all.

    So in theory...

    • create a drum machine in Drambo, with each patch on a different channel / MIDI channel
    • use another sequencer (e.g. Rosetta Suite XOX) to program it

    That kinda thing?

  • Yep! And you can record in midi from other apps too. So say you set up a good arp in StepPolyArp, you can capture that midi in a track.

  • Just wanted to add my voice to the chorus thanking @bcrichards for that excellent video. Certainly isn't making the wait any easier, though. :D

  • U can record midi in too... wow

  • That video was awesome!

you can sequence with drambo or something else. Doesn’t matter.

Or You can also load your complete drambo projects into an daw. Just press play. :) bam
You can play mix and match with completely different projects like that.

Although it sounds as if Giku is now planing auv3 hosting in standalone, which is like Dramboception, you can also spread one project you’ve made out onto several instances for use of auv3 effects etc.

  • @0tolerance4silence i don’t think there’s too much missing. Other midi apps might offer bigger interface etc, I still like connecting some AU pads or keys in sometimes.

Pattern lengths are set across all tracks, currently. This may change but I don’t think it’s been promised yet. Time will be modulateable per track in future, so I think that will carry over to pattern speed per track.

There is a Jump condition though, so you can do poly meter already...set step 13 of track 2 to jump back to step 1.

  • @0tolerance4silence and yeah, conditions can be combined. set probability on a p-lock, jump step only on 3rd loop, conditionals tied to scene, etc.

Not sure if I’m understanding what you mean by pattern lengths being set across. Each pattern can have an independent (can be set individually) number of steps as well as beats per step.

I think this refers to tracks having different numbers of steps or different meters within one pattern.

  • There’s going to be a recording mode where patterns are added automatically while recording and loop back to the first pattern when record button is pressed just like in loopy.

  • As @supadom said, each pattern can have its individual settings (number of beats + steps per beat), that spread across all tracks in pattern.

However, you can use jump step component on a step, to make track shorter and play polyrhytms. This can be conditional. You can jump forward as well.

Ah yeah, sorry you’re right. You were talking tracks and I was hearing patterns. My bad.

Yes, I’d love to be able to set track lengths individually but jump component does it too just isn’t as visually informative.

Well it’s been discussed and positively viewed by @giku_beepstreet but I’m not sure when etc. ;)

  • What video?

Middle of page 114, possibly depending on your display settings.

I felt compelled to make a “getting started video” with where the beta is at now. I don’t know where that compulsion comes from as you will see my video editing skills are relatively nonexistent and for now I’m just screen recording with a mouse :)

This is not an official video with the endorsement of the developer! Giku gave me the go ahead to make a video and offered some feedback on an earlier one, but it’s solely my own interpretation of how the app works, etc.

Anyways, it’s an overview of some of the basic features in the current iteration of Drambo. If that’s something you want to see, you can watch me clown through it.
