As @McD said ... But Boycott Behringer. Not a problem for me. Not the type of gear I'll likely need. I want an older iPhone with a ton of storage to strap on to a MIDI USB keyboard and still have a headphone port.
I had that Cat clone on my "someday" list but no longer. This being said, I have two B clones in my possession, that I acquired in trades (no that doesn't make me somehow better) that I'll not be losing. We all have to make our own decisions in this or any other market matter. Doesn't make us mean or cruel or uninformed - but we all can't fight the same battles all the time.
I kind of wish that people would go on the record about this stuff, as currently it's just innuendo and it's hard to know how to evaluate it. I've learnt over the years I've leant that when someone complains about bullying it can range from - "people disagreed with me and I don't like that" - to "they threatened to sue me, my immediate family and posted private detectives outside my house at all hours of the night" (true story). My suspicion is that it probably leans closer to the latter, and I'd like to know when they do it, and why.
I also understand why journalists would be reluctant to do this obviously.
Dunno. But I live in the bible belt, where black people often go to schools where the roofs leak. Where if I look at car stopped by the police it's usually a black person driving it. Where it's casually assumed that criminals are black. Where poor black people will have their kids seized by the state and given to Christian fundamentalist adoption agencies. I could go on. So people getting upset because they misinterpreted an image as anti-semitic due to their ignorance might not be something that I get hugely excited about.
No, this is a real thing. The difference between this and the Behringer thing is that this real. The trouble with getting upset with every perceived slight, is that it minimizes the impact of real things like this. If you want people to take anti-semitism seriously, maybe take it seriously enough to identify it properly.
If the story is accurate, then it seems that the school has an anti-semitism and bullying problem. Which should be fixed.
I honestly don't care much what people call me on the internet. I've never really got why people do.
The whole politically correct debate is really about white men arguing for why they should have the right to be rude to people less powerful than them. When I frame it that way it tends to, if not end the debate, at least put them on the defensive. In real life I like to be polite to people, and treat them the way they want to be treated. I believe it's called manners.
Behringer do get a lot of shit, much of it unfair, on random parts of the internet. I guess if you were thin skinned that you get to you.
The weird thing is Peter Kirn really isn't like that caricature. I'm actually not sure what their beef with him is. His site is really good though, and has been around for years at this point. He's not particularly anti their products (their habit of suing people, yes). He's a good guy and he's not a snob (he likes IOS audio stuff a lot).
I think Uli is suffering from wanting to be both successful and respected. I suspect their business is good for music as a whole (how many broke musicians will now have access to affordable synths). I've been to the Moog factory and it's cool - but that's definitely a business model focused on luxury products for a small elite.

The Music Group/Behringer Auratone C5A and C50A are not related to us and our Auratone 5C in anyway. We have not sold nor licensed the brand. We are in a pending lawsuit with Music Group in US District Court regarding this matter.
There is also pending ligation in Europe in the EUIPO, and a decision in that case is imminent. All of these cases are of public record.
Auratone has been a family business for over 50 years, and we continue to operate as one, the way Jack would have wanted it. We look to carry on his legacy and are committed to protecting that.

It looks like Behringer counter sued in the US case, then the cases were consolidated and are now suspended pending arbitration. So I guess “imminent” was a relative term. I wonder how that’s going.
I for one had heard of the CDM blog, but had no idea who was behind it, much less his ethnic/religious background or the proportions of his schnoz. I would imagine the same is true for the vast majority of thumb-typing philosophers eager to contribute their micro-wisdom to this pivotal controversy. But now that the whole world knows the name Peter Kirn, what has the man himself actually had to say about it all? That would seem far more relevant than a whole piggybank full of two-cent testimony. As far as I have seen, his only public comment on the matter was to ask people not to destroy their Behringer gear and to send it to him.
One might suggest, that would seem a fair way to resolve the matter with grace and levity — perhaps instead of jumping on the easy pile-up of the nearest forum to express aghast defense of the little guy by engaging in one's own form of not-so-micro-aggressive rants or, conversely, the facile sophistry of standing up for a troll’s god-given right to piss on anyone’s dignity in the name of free-speech absolutism.
Meanwhile, NOT ONE person has mentioned the real victims, the French and wine enthusiasts — who apparently take themselves seriously to a degree that makes them universal fair game. At least we can all agree on something. Sniff sniff.

I think what some people are trying to say is that Uli is Colonel Sanders and that Behringer is the Chick-Fil-A of synth manufacturers, while some other people are saying "hey I disagree" Uli is not Colonel Sanders and Behringer is not the Chick-Fil-A of synth manufacturers they just make affordable chicken and I like chicken, and at this point I have come to the conclusion that my opinion on this matter has been exhausted.
The real question is does Peter like chicken, and do chickens like synths?
