I mean that when mic modelling you need to take account of what the source mic is and remap that to sound like the target mic - otherwise mapping a 58 versus a condenser will produce wildly different results (which are supposed to be at least similar). That said if a mic modeller does a thing you like to the sound that’s good!
The IK mic modelling app, besides no AUv3, only supports IK mics as source - on desktop any of the target mics can also be used as a source (including an SM58 so ubiquitous cheap(ish) option)

I totally get this logic, and I frequently buy apps to "spur development" or to keep a promising dev going. But it's really kind of crazy if you follow the logic to the end.
Like, if we all don't go out and buy the expensive apps that cost four times as much on desktop, then we somehow deserve what we get when we don't get good apps!
But it's kind of true. No matter what we say, iOS is NOT a professional platform. That is not to say that you can't make a great record on iOS. On the contrary, I think its limitations and quirks are no less inspiring than the original MPC's or analog synths.
It's just that these limitations are so prevalent and frustrating that no "professional" would ever put up with them.
That said, I would pay almost anything for Serato Sample on iOS and try to shame everybody else to do the same thing so I could have it lol.
I wasn't saying we deserve crap apps because we're only prepared to pay peanuts. The point was that iOS is capable of desktop-class results and we're lucky that we have developers like Fabfilter, Eventide, Moog and IK Multimedia willing to sell desktop-class plugins for a fraction of the cost.
The second part was more a comment on the app economy. Music production apps don't have the sales potential of games or productivity apps and developers that want to commit to making audio-focused apps professionally need to think about their pricing strategy if they want to be in business long enough to really hone their game. I remember reading an Audiokit article that mentioned you can get into the top twenty ios music apps charts by selling as few as four copies of an app over a three day period. That fact says it all.
We're lucky that we have leagues of developers making audio apps purely out of passion. So many like Brambos have full-time jobs in unrelated industries (I believe Brambos works for a major web development firm by day). But this shouldn't be the expectation.
The reason that desktop plugins are priced at the level they are is yet again because the vast majority of desktop vendors don't deal is massive sales volume. The major players like IK Multimedia sell a multitude more than 90+% of other vendors. Do the math on the desktop group buy and you can see they're making serious coin. Compare that to selling four apps over three days to get a top twenty chart position on iOS!
Awesome I was hoping somebody would confirm that. Cheers. I’m familiar with the app I just didn’t know how the pricing was set up.

I didn't say we deserve crap apps! And I agree with what you write about the economics of the platform. It's a weird situation for iOS. I'm just saying that I'm not sure I have a duty to buy expensive apps to make it more attractive to big developers for the whole of the scene. (Not that you said that!)
I don’t know about you guys, but this seem like an app I would get a h#$! of a lot of use from:
