Why was it removed? To use the set locator button in the Mix window only - you have to posiition the cursor in the Edit window, switch to the Mix window, tap the set locator icon, switch back to the Edit window, move the cursor to the desired end position, switch back to the Mix window, and tap the same set locator button - with a reversed icon now - to set the end point. One cannot stay in the Mix widow and edit the location counter manually instead of switching to the Edit window for positioning. There is no "type in the cursor position" option (that I can find). In versions 1.x the only difference is the set locator button is in the Edit window as well, saving the window switching distraction, much more natural. Although gven the visual method of setting them and this awkwardness of use I fail to see why it was left in at all. At least, on the Edit window, it was somewhat useful. And the space for it is still there.

I think I found a bug here. The first time I swiped a locator selection in the timeline, the "Separate" button was available. It splits at both locators. Nice. But if I undo that operation, the Separate button greys out and I have yet to figure out how to get it back. Surely the state of the button should be restored if I use it then undo its use? So I can fine-position the locators and redo?
You don't have to use the cursor to use the set locator. It's in the mix view only so you can use the set locator while the track is playing and set in out points by ear. Rim removed it from the edit view because it's quicker to double tap and drag the loop box in edit view. But yes I too preferred to have the icon there as well and did ask Rim why it was removed....just gives you another way of setting the in out points. I'm sure if enough people request it he'll bring it back. :)

It was removed to make room in the editor, and and was also redundant.  In the mixer page, there's no other way to set locators, so I left them in there, but when you're in the editor, the correct way to add locators has always been to double-tap on the timeline and "draw" in the locator range you want.

To separate a part of a region, you don't use locators.  You use highlighting.  To highlight, you double-tap and drag directly onto a region (not the timeline).  The result is a grey box.

  • @syrupcore, @yug, thanks for the tips.

  • Great idea, but it's not quite possible, because SFZs require a folder as well as the file.  But you can do this now a different way because Auria Pro supports zip files as Open In.  Just make a folder structure that looks like this:

    Sampler Instruments
      Bass
        Your sfz.sfz
        Your Sfz Folder

zip it and send it to Auria.  It'll appear in your Lyra samples the next time you open Lyra.

    ^ BOSS MODE, folks.

Rim, just to be clear... you're saying the top level folder in the zip we create should be named "Sampler Instruments". Within that should be a folder for... category? Then the `.sfz` + samples. Correct?
  • That's correct.  If you use iFunBox, you can see how the Sampler Instruments folder is set up within Auria. (or if you don't use a computer, you can examine the folder structure within Auria by using the Import File screen and drilling down into the Sampler Instruments folder to see how it's made).

  • also @WaveMachineLabs you should probably ignore all those rhcball reports, I wiped my ipad and started fresh and i'm not having the crashes anymore.
  • "Are you ready for Auria Pro?"  I suddenly realized, no I'm not ready!!!   Waiting, slightly panicked, anticipating the next iTunes Gift card discount to bring me enough US iTunes credits for the $40 Auria Pro upgrade.
  • "Are you ready..." Well I've now ordered my iPad Pro (I only have an iPad2 at the moment) and asked for iTunes vouchers for Christmas - then I will be more than ready!
  • @WaveMachineLabs - so the bug was that I got a functional Separator button from setting the locators, not that it went away afterwards?
