Unless there's actually something that's been posted by Rim in the past about the upgrade only being $25, it's fair to say that many of us have misread what we thought was offered. I know that I misread it a few months ago and decided not to buy Auria and just wait for Auria Pro to be released. Now I'm just waiting for it to become an AU host, then I'll gladly buy it.

Waiting for something to become an AU host is really not a good reason to postpone a purchase. There are around three AU Extensions right now and one host almost half a year after the technology has become available. GarageBand is still not compatible and I don't expect Apple to push this technology (just like they have not promoted IAA, Bluetooth Midi, Audio streaming from iOS to Mac via the lightning cable...). Developers have no incentive to add AU Extensions to their apps other than a little novelty. And let's face it, you can't
even re-purchase existing apps if they add this feature, thanks to the lack of paid upgrades.

So if you're waiting for the flood of AU extensions to use with you one AU Host... don't. Buy Auria Pro now if you like the concept of it. I bet it's going to get AU Extension support as soon as AU Extensions become relevant. Not sure when that will be.

I'm probably better off waiting since I own Cubasis and Garageband. But honestly, all of Auria Pro's features are very tempting, and I might just bin Cubasis if they can't catch up. I'll know soon enough. But for now, I'll just keep tabs with how everyone's getting along with Auria Pro.

How about sending midi notes from other apps (Chordion, Patterning, Fugue...) to midi tracks in Auria Pro? Can I run xynthesizr, for example, sending midi to three instances of twin2/One at the same time?

Virtual MIDI is definitely supported, I haven't tried controlling multiple instances of the synths though. You can set the MIDI channel for each instance so it might be possible

    Great, thanks:)

  • @Monzo let's hope you come back, seems a shame to quit the place over something so trivial. The red mist descended on a few people today, shame it had to get personal.

I haven't banned him. As far as I can tell he's not deleted his account. He's free to come back if he wants to. It's just a really bad idea to turn a launch thread of a new app into some kind of complain-fest. Hurts the developer in question a lot and is really the wrong place to discuss it, especially in such a rude way.

curious - how many presets come with the 2 new synths ...and how much do additional preset packs cost?

    Fair question.
One has 30 free presets and Twin 2 has 115 free presets.  FabFilter offers four additional preset packs for Twin 2 @ $3.99 each, and one additional pack for One @ $2.99  About 500 presets in those Twin 2 packs.

  • Did Lyra just next my beloved bs16i? While flipping the bird at iSymphonic's "streaming disk sample" playback?
I mean, there are some good soundfonts out there ... And now Auria can play them.
For me I haven't touched BS-16i since I got MTS for iPad.  But BS-16i still has a lot more control of ASDR, if you need that.  It's cool that the new AP supports SFZ format.

  • So glad to see Retina graphics now in Auria, makes it so much nicer to use :)
  • Curious as to whether I'm the only one getting repeated crashes. Anyone else.

I ve ve done all the usual delete app. Reload app. Restore purchased upgrade etc.....

    This.

  • Guys, i just upgraded to Auria 2.0 and it is incredibly amazing! A project that i had loaded that was taking almost half CPU it is barely at 10%.... how did they do that? It is incredible! I really think the bottleneck were the old graphics that were eating up ram or something. But this new Auria is super efficient. I'm running an iPad Air1 and i am so grateful for the free upgrade to 2.0. Thanks Rim. Regarding Monzo, guys, please take it easy on each other. Remember not everyone is able to fork out cash as easy as others. I for one, have to count every penny and when I do get an app, I really savor it. Monzo has been a great contributor to this forum and when one of us disagrees, but let that person vent off. It's okay to speak your mind and disagree. I mean, we all agree that we can disagree from time to time right? I guess the excitement of the moment and seeing everyone upgrade so easily makes others including myself a bit jealous. But that's ok. My time to upgrade will come. But we sure would love to have Monzo back in this forum. Believe it or not, we need each other, we help each other in one way or another. I really appreciate everyone's comments and help here in the forum. This forum has not only helped me become and apholic, but a better musician. At the end of the day, isn't that what we all are? We're a family of musicians. Just my humble opinion.
  • Anyone using Auria Pro with an iPad Mini 2 running iOS 9?

did this update turn you mad???? monzo was in right to express his feelings( even if not always the right way)... some of you treated him like shit..makes me sad ...
remember two weeks ago?paris? does it tell you something?
you're able to fight for a stupid app( no offense to rim, auria is'great!).laughable... and sad.
sorry friends for this rant.i'm a little bit disappointed..
In this case this was the second time that I saw him basically hijack a thread about a new app to complain about some pricing issues or something that he thought was not justified.

Let me clarify: Everyone absolutely has the right to complain about what they think is bad. But please keep it civil. And also consider *where* you're doing this. As a fellow developer it hurts me to see a launch thread of a new app basically derailed by a user demanding something/demanding something that they claim had been promised. In Monzo's case that was a the case twice now (that I witnessed).
First with Fugue Machine's routing (Monzo expected more options) and now with Auria's supposed promised update pricing/rebate or whatever. Rim (Auria's developer) has already commented that he never promised any such thing. So I warned Monzo to turn it down. And of course he snapped.

I had a *very, very, very long* conversation with him the first time via PM. This time I didn't have the nerve to put on silk gloves. And of course he overreacted, announcing his account deletion. This kind of behaviour is very well known of very active members of online communities who sometimes showcase toxic behavior. I've been there. Seen it. I might have been that person myself once. I've been the moderator who dealt with it before. I'm doing it again here.

If he feels like coming back, nobody is stopping him.

I should probably have told Chris to be more civil as well. You're right to complain about that.
  • In Monzo's defence I don't think his behaviour has been generally "toxic", he's usually pretty civil. I think in this case there was a misunderstanding about the price announced, and it goes back to a misinterpretation of the original WML press release - I can actually see how the wording was misread.

And then a couple of people really got personal, throwing insults around quite unnecessarily, and that definitely was not Monzo's doing.

By ignoring the toxic comment "Can we get a donation can set up for the starving third world iPad Audio-producing children of England, please?" from @AQ808 and the other from Chrisg - "go about whatever the fuck it was you were doing before this" you've not just allowed the thread to get over heated (I responded, of course I did), but showing some very obvious bias against me.

I might moan about pricing (check the Auria forum, I'm not the only one), but at least I don't get personal (the response to @AQ808 was a rare slip-up).

No public telling off and shaming for the one's who made personal attacks against me? No, thought not.

Yeah and I have serious issues with the cheap positioning Monzo did...your opinion on who's in the right holds no more weight than anyone else. And I have to get right to the point, your comparison of the fighting in this thread to the recent Paris attack is disgusting.

I do consider the attitudes of @monzo ;on this board to be toxic. It's not the first time I've said this, and I've never stopped thinking it. He's taken a contrarian position on pricing on this board numerous times. It comes off as insulting to developers and an implication of greed. And imo, he can fuck right off for that. I am not going to sugarcoat it, others in this very thread have done that already.
  • I mean, seriously!

The only answer that would appease him would be for Rim to lower his discount price on launch day!

How low would it have to go to for someone with "mouths to feed" as their reasoning?

I mean, if you are that close to the edge, surely selling all your devices to help your kids get by for a few more months until they can fall on your country's social service safety net is your best option?

He was bullying a guy who spent at least two years working on this update, and guess what, the only people who might be the most interested in this to actually buy it are those who already own the original version.

Since that is likely his biggest market for the release, he has to charge for that or risk not making money, and I have to assume, not have food for his own kids.

Worst release date thread-jack in audiobus forum history!
