It IS fairy dust. Not quite certain what it's doing, but I always appreciate the result...reminds me of cinnamon or worcestershire sauce, you shouldn't be able to taste it in your stew or bolognese, but it adds grace notes that are essential to the overall dish.

Didn't know about this one. I'm looking to treat myself to one new Auria plugin for Xmas - was thinking of either Saturn, Volcano, or the EQ one. I've got a Timeless 2, Turnado and WOW (disappointed with that one). Would you recommend MicroWarmer over the others? Out if all my FX I'm finding StereoDesigner the most satisfying in a mix, so maybe subtlety wins against wacky.

OK. What's the point or value of Re-Tune? Is it just pretty much rubbish or is it me?

It's not the best :) Usable on scratch vocals, less so in a final mix.

  • @monzo: personally I would recommend the far more utilitarian Pro Q.

Thanks Richard, probably the sensible option as I struggle with the built-in EQ

Yes it's far more visual than the Channel Strip EQ, and it also has a spectrum analyser which really makes all the difference.

Half of me knows he's right, but the other half just wants to make silly noises.....

I was asked by a band I'm involved in to mix one of their projects, so I thought I'd be a good way to get to know Auria Pro. I imported the stems and after a bit if fiddling came up with a really good mix, and they were well chuffed. I do get lost in the EQ though, and so Pro Q would definitely help. But.

I love Saturn/Volcano/Timeless/Turnado for the silly noises, but the biscuit layer of the cheesecake is def. Pro Q etc.

  • Probably Pro Q. But I also like Saturn for changing sounds into other sounds.

I've struggled a bit with Timeless so far to be honest. There's lots of very small knobs and everything seems to end up quite extreme. But it's probably just me. I know it's extremely flexible and powerful.

Persevere Matt, I find it to be a wonderful tool.

A couple of votes for Saturn there, if I ignore the sensible thing. I can probably replicate some of the Volcano stuff in Timeless. I like that one, but found it wasn't saving my settings, though that might have been fixed in the update.

I'll see how much Samta/Mrs Monzo stumps up on Xmas day. I've already got the new Korg and Geoshred on my list, so might not be able to squeeze in two Fabs.

  • @monzo good to see you here again first off, secondly if they liked the mix you obviously did a good job!

Definitely pro-q for you, you'll use it a lot. Pro c is also awesome but pro q is totally different than the channel strip eq in terms of UI and that style eq I love. Micro warmer is also great, but get pro q first.

Thanks :) another vote for Pro Q! I was going to do the mix in Logic, but decided to give Auria a go, and it did a really good job - nice and sharp, and StereoDesigner added a lot of extra depth.

  • It would be a tough choice between Saturn and Pro-q for me.....Knowing how awesome Saturn is. But....Having the visuals with Pro-q is very very nice. Helpful, I mean really helpful. Good luck @monzo with yer choice(s)!

Thanks :) I might have to rewrite my Xmas list and see if Mrs Monzo will up the budget!

Regarding the settings not saving in timeless, i think i heard mention of this on the auria forum even after the last update. I would love to know if they do save now.

I am kind of torn between timeless, saturn and volcano. I am looking to take analog drums and trip them out a little but not full on turnado. More gentle dub like.

Timeless is excellent for dub. I'll check tomorrow and see if it's saving, the pub's calling me now...

  • As far as I know, all the PSP plugins were fixed in 2.01, but if you experience any issues with presets, etc, let me know so I can tell PSP about it.

Well there are great dub presets here in Timeless 2 but when I reload the project it just uses the default settings...

(EDIT: Oh wait I am an idiot, yes it does work!)

The Pro Q was already my most important"instrument"but just a short view of ProQ2 s full screen mode.I get goosebumps with that one ;)

On micro and static level, Pro-Q is good and beautiful for the eyes and ears! But on changing or variable sound level, Pro-MB is my favorite.

Guys what plug in would be best to fix a two track master where the drum cymbal is way too loud on a certain section of the song. Is there a way to use one of these plug-ins and basically just target that sound while not affecting the other instruments? Was wondering if Pro-mb would do this.

EQ is your best bet. Pro Q would work well.

Probably Pro MB in this case, with some automation.

  • Bought Pro Q yesterday after demo-ing it on the desktop, currently £16.99 for UK people.
Looks to be a very useful all rounder, that video was very helpful. I've not seen that vst analyzer used for a while. I remember using it to measure nebula stuff.

I can only think positive thoughts today.

In M/S/L/R mode? Seems like MB would also be good for targeting a specific frequency and applying GR without affecting other frequencies too much.
