You can get something at the chemist for that these days.
I just noticed that Korg state on their site that Link is planned for iMS20 and iPolysix. Anyone got any news about this? I'm hesitant to buy them unless the sync functions get updated.
Also, is the any point in getting them if I already have, say, DRC and Model 15? The former is more Roland-ish, perhaps, and the latter is obviously Moog-ish.....
Somebody justify my buying them!
You can get DRC for free and if you like it you can buy the unlock IAP.
I already own DRC. I meant justify iMS20 and iPolysix.
Hi,
My reasoning to justify iMS20 was to learn the how it works a modular analogue synthetizer. If on top I can manage one day to make good sound with it then the buying is more than a must.
All the best
I really wish Korg would update the iMS-20 and add PWM as one of the modulation destinations.
It's possible to route once of the sequencer tracks to control PulseWidth but it would be nicer to use EG or MG for that. iDS-10 has PWM as a modulation source but iMS-20 has a 'fatter' sound
I still have trouble programming iM1. I think it's that I'm not so used to the names given to things. I'm also somewhat overwhelmed by the ammount of stuff in there.
I probably just need to spend more time with it.
Once you work out how to do it, saving a patch for use in Darwin is pretty straight forward.
Grabbed iMS20 and iM1 and delighted with both. The iMS20 actually does sound almost identical to my much missed hardware version. Thanks Korg!
not much ipolysix talk round these parts?
Both iMS-20 and iPolysix could use an improved sequencer similar to what can be found in Gadget.
And Gadget could use the bigger keyboard with added y-axis velocity and kaos-pad from iMS-20/iPolysix.
And well, those two apps would be perfect as additional Gadgets too
I'm thinking about copping the ipolysix as it looks like it's automation tricks might be good for evolving, ambient, groove based material
I'm guessing they do Wavestation or MonoPoly first.
I find it odd that they haven't done the WS or M/P yet, given that the other Legacy synths came out ages ago. Or are iPolysix and iMS20 completely recoded (do they perhaps use more modern modelling code than the now quite ageing VST versions)?
iPolySix is one of the few apps I've just never been able to find a use for. I keep trying but it just never comes together.
Wish iPolysix had that double tap zoom function that iMS20 has for use with a midi keyboard. Something special about having a screen full of knobs.
I love iPolysix for strings and pads.
Would be a dream if the Wavestation app also worked as a remote programmer UI for hardware Wavestations.
Or why not do a port of the HD-1 engine from Kronos and get 'wavestation' for free meaning it would be possible to do sampling with editing and use the custom samples for 'wave-sequences'
What really scares me being an appoholic is that if I sum up all the apps and ipads, controllers and sound-stuff i've bought during the years it almost sums up to a Kronos, scary sh*t...
+1
Would be so much easier than the 2-line display hiding all the sonic potential of my WS SR.
Yep. Same box here.
Balls. Just bought iMS20 and, while it sounds great, I'm massively disappointed that there's no sync at all (aside from WIST, but it's not 2009 any more). Really, really hoping they'll add Link so that the sequencer doesn't go to waste. Shame they never reply to my queries about Link in ims20 & Polysix.
im1 and the IAP's were a steal at this price. I love the sounds, and the sound possibilities with it. And, being able to use it in Gadget is great as well.
Wow, I really like Kingston, but...........Kamata has got it beat! Some really really cool sounding retro presets with this one. Awesome....
Grabbed iPolysix too. Not as gratifying and versatile as iMS20 but still a lovely sounding synth with the usual high Korg standard. Desperately needs updating, in connectivity terms, though. I asked Korg on Twitter about the fact their site states Link is coming to these older apps. They replied that they are definitely working on it.
Does Korg module le come with the free mellotron module?
Yes, as long as you purchase it before the sale ends.
I have most of the Korg stuff, having bought it at sale or full price over the past 3 years, but I did pull the trigger on Module, plus the Triton IAP. Too early to really judge it - Module, more than perhaps any instrument app I've purchased on iOS, is pretty useless without plugging in an external keyboard. I think it offers a nice collection of acoustic piano-type sounds. There's a lot of other stuff, too, though a lot of the synths, brass, bells, and so on are probably covered by iM1.
I don't think "overpriced" is the word to describe Module, it just feels like that a little more than other apps because by the time you go to buy it, it's not offering anything particularly new over the other Korg and non-Korg apps I have. It just does a nice job with what it does. The primary draw, of course, is the Gadget integration.
Well put. I think of it as a high-quality Methadone fix. No initial jolt, but acceptable for long-term maintenance...
I really bought Module as part of Gadget. It provides more fully sampled conventional instruments that aren’t possible in iM1. If you make more traditional music within Gadget, I think Module is a necessity.
According to their site they posted on December 18th 2015 that link is coming to older apps like ims-20.
Hopefully they're almost done!
If only KORG would integrate ims-20 into Gadget...and ikoassilator!
