  • Well no need to be facetious about it, they did it with iM1 so why not?
It's cool I'll show myself out!

What would be wonderful would be just a simple midi IO / audio IO loop-back gadget. I’d expect such a thing to exist, on their test bench.

  • Ah yes now that, gadget is my favourite sequencer on iPad so yes if we could use it to sequence other apps, 100%. Put the final nail the the modstep coffin

  • Im on the fence for gladstone...need you to convince me. Or should i just find some good acoustic drum samples for bilbao?

It feels good to have a 'Complete' Gadget installation :D
As long as there are no folders for user-samples inside Gadget it's a small nightmare to manage.

I left Kamata until the hype goes down ( together with the price) , maybe on December sales i get it at reasonable price.

I think you'd like it to be honest. The tweakability of the sounds is pretty nice. The in built drum-optimised reverb is very nice. If you're into 'real' sounding drums then I think it's well worth it. There are about 125 samples in it. Plus you don't have to go through the hassle of loading each one.

    "Time is money?"
It ain't really all that much fun to roll your own kits in Bilbao, is it? If you really want to do a decent job, you need to spend a lot of time gathering the samples, slicing them up, transferring them around, maybe convert them between formats, etc. For the price of a Starbucks run or two it's a good tradeoff to me. If I'm in Gadget, I'm in there to put together some music, not mess around tweaking samples. But to each his own... B)

Agree with this, @Matt_Fletcher_2000 and @JohnnyGoodyear on this one. Totally worth the price to just get up and go make music.

  • OT question here ...
Is there a way to synchronize user made Bilbao kits between devices? I made a kit and synced the song over iCloud, but Bilbao on the other device is silent.

  • I guess I partially answered my own question. Importing the individual samples to the other device, then closing and re-opening the song seems to do the trick.

  • +1 on Gladstone. Good acoustic drum sounds, different from those in London and Bilbao. Ambiance effect sounds good, plus the build in compressor with drive and the eq help 'gluing' the drums together.

Yes, even with other quality drums apps on the iPad and link to sync everything, Gladstone is a real no brainer as it really brings good sounds and opens, alongside with Madrid IMHO, new horizons in Gadget.

They do keep making improvements, and I am encouraged by that, it takes them a long time to get things done seemingly, but when they arrive they usually work without any major problems.
I was disappointed to find though that the mixer is still not controllable from a controller (LaunchcontrolXL or nanokontrol 2)...same goes for cubasis (this is my main wish for v2)

Yes, shame, because I have a Behringer BCF 2000 just begging to be plugged into my iPad. :D

  • I bought Gladstone when it came out - I think that it's usefulness is only limited by the one main thing Gadget is still missing, which is audio tracks. If Gladstone were an Auria plug-in or a MIDI capable sequencer within another DAW like MultiTrackStudio, its value would be instantly obvious. What Gladstone and Madrid add to Gadget are the ability to make really authentic backing tracks with acoustic drums and bass. That was still possible before with sample and PCM-based Gadgets, but this a new level of convenience and tweakability.

Now, if you could also record guitars and vocals directly into Gadget, no offense to the other excellent apps we have, but I'd spend almost all my time in Gadget!

Just wanted to say - I bought the iPolysix last week after years of twitching and scratching about around the edges, and find it a lovely old piece of stuff. Connectivity is a bit creaky, and the knobs are a bit sticky missus, but I'd recommend it to fence sitters as it has THAT SOUND. Big without being flabby, lush without being pissed. I quite like the sequence/song chappie as well, and knocked a few little ditties up on the quick like.

hey Monzo, welcome back. Funny, I also bought iPolysix last week after long long hesitating, and I'm totally liking it. It sounds amazing, and the fact that you can have several voices active at the same time is really cool. And it is "old" in a lovely way.
Also: it somehow feels like being half way between a historic synth and Gadget.

Thanks. Yes I've been impressed with it - similar to the iMS20 in some ways, but with a bigger, fuller, poly sound. And I'm a sucker for anything with x/y pads. I like the built in drums too - helps keep things in sync when I make sequences for exporting into Blocs.

Feels a bit neglected at the moment, but Korg don't abandon apps so I'm sure they'll keep it ticking along.

A nice thing, glad I coughed up the readies.

yes they said they'll add LINK eventually, so that will make it more usefull in playing along with other apps.
it really is nice to have all that sequencing in the app, and one of the things that remind me of Gadget is that you can automate virtually everything (long press on knob).

I would not have expected this but it is now one of my favorite synths.
