  • Same here. Very odd.

@Simo You don't need to swipe right to select the pack, you can scroll the list on the left vertically to select the pack. If you don't have the pack that you select. It will bring up the description.

Finally after swiping right on the column of icons on the left, the Miroslav, Moog and Sonic packs showed up. Then after that, I could scroll vertically and the previously purchased packs show up, by scrolling up and down in the far left column of icons. Very obscure interface. I am just glad I got all my previous purchases back.

Ah! Thank you, @PhilW. I didn't realize; usually I read all manuals, but this update was so exciting I jumped right in, so missed this simple interface thing.

  • Loving the new interface now I'm used to it. Way better than the old version :)

  • not sure yet if I like everything about it ... live mode seems to be what you need to have it be multi timbral, and selection of sounds there is less intuitive than before
... but this is just after a quick play with the new version, probably the new features make up for this draw back

  • It does sound richer, but the new method of selecting those sounds is an unnecessarily convoluted clusterfuck.
Until now, I have refrained from joining in on the IkMultiMedia pile-on.
    Until now.

  • Something really nice: It supports the sostenuto pedal. I no longer recall if I tried it with the previous version of the app. Now at least the following support this pedal: the CrudeByte apps, SampleTank, Roland Sound Canvas. I hope more apps will also in the future.

  • Now if only it had a piano roll.....

  • I really love the selection process more now than before. Each to their own :)

I see the built-in recorder as very much a notepad. For proper recording, you can use Cubasis or Auria Pro (or others) as the source of midi into Sampletank. A pity it is not 16 channels but 8 is much more usable than 4. Or you could use the internal recorder as a source of loops for use in other apps.

  • Love the new interface..... . Mine did crash for no reason a couple of times( latest iOS, Air 1)... The Pro Pack are rather good...... MIDI is much, much better than before, but LINK would have been a great bonus...... Very happy with it ( apart from the odd crash)...... :)

  • I'm convinced the app has a slightly better sound. For want of better words I would describe it as more open and airy than before.

The first thing in the description says that it uses the sound engine from SampleTank 3

Yes I read that, but having never used that piece of software, it means nothing to me. My ears can hear a difference though, even my old man cloth ears lol :)

  • It does sound slightly better, a bit cleaner than before.

  • Still absorbing the changes , but I'm liking the new interface as well: less scrolling of long preset lists! (Though I'd love to be able to reorder the library icons so the libraries I own can be moved to the top). Love having 1-tap access to 8 instrument slots across the top.

As with others, it took a while for my Sonik Synth presets to 'go live'... But they eventually did after a restart or two.

yeah, I like the selection in the song mode much better than before, it is quite elegant. But why can't I keep my selected instruments into live mode and have to re-select them through drop down lists? seems unnecessaryily complicated to me

Yes would be a good idea to be able to send them to live mode but still keep them separate too.

Actually you can save your song as a multi - just found it!

Great idea. Can have practice sets and live sets. Altering one will not mess up the other.

Still no multi-out. Only single stereo.

    Sigh

yep, it is possible ....but it is a looot of taps
would be cool to have a button or gesture "send to multi"

I think @PhilW might be right that some patches are only available if you register a hardware unit from themselves.

Oh dear, I do hope that is not the case. I'll try the other suggested solutions on the morrow, and hope for the best.

Another improvement: You can now name your saved presets. Previously it was just all numbers.

Some of the sounds from the non-Pro (have yet to purchase Pro, but will) packs and the base app are now fantastic, thanks to the new engine.

I keep finding out more and more great things about 2.0. So contrary to some opinions I saw calling this a minor update, I think it's hugely better now. Can't wait to be able to afford the Pro and other packs.

And... one day perhaps AU or multi-outs? AU would (and I almost never use this expression) blow my mind.* A dream for now, but after all, this is just 2.0. Hopefully more updates will be forthcoming.

*) CrudeByte is already working on AUs of their apps. Same mindblowing comment applies.

    Wow. Hope so.

They tweeted about it at the end of June:

At least for iSymphonic Orchestra. But I hope I haven't misunderstood. Could it only have meant the apps would host AU effects? Rather than becoming AUs? I'm very sorry if I unwittingly spread a false assumption.

Yes, they tweeted about it at the end of June:

At least for iSymphonic Orchestra. Of course that's the big one, but hopefully also the others. Maybe a good chance of that considering how uniformly they've implemented their various apps in the past.

Very cool. I have to say that it's iSymphonic Orchestra that keeps Sample Tank largely unused in the background these days...

  • I edited my previous post. It had actually never dawned on me before (because I want the AU conversion to happen so much), but maybe they only meant their apps would host AU effects? :/

  • It IS taking a little while to update, but I know some people have faster connections than me

  • How can I tell if I got all the sounds from the All Sounds Packs IAP, I know I had purchased it before.
