Thanks so much theaetwebreathe for a very informative post! I scour the net and different forums trying to soak up all this new info about making music on iOS, I'm learning that you could spend your life reading articles and watching YouTube vids and still not learn about all the buzzwords, updates, new apps, and techniques!!

I haven't had a chance yet to delve into ST2 deeply, but I see one area where it might be improved. IKM says it includes an 8-track MIDI recorder with audio export. That's great, except what is a MIDI recorder that doesn't give you access to MIDI editing or exporting MIDI? Am I missing something here?
If SampleTank had these features, it could be more on par with Gadget as a workstation and with a fantastic library of sounds. It still offers a lot, but I'd be buying more sounds for it if I used it nearly as much as I use Gadget.

Hi @AlexB, & for the rest of the lads on this Forum. I bought iRIg keys a while ago, & sent them the Registry Code(you have to have an Account with them to do this) that came with the keyboard. I lost the piece of paper that had the code on it. But it was in their system. I emailed them for the code. They sent me my number, then in the SampleTank Account, you put in your User Name, & Password,( from your IK Multimedia login Account) then you put in your Code of the hardware product you bought off them. Then all the grey areas for the extra sounds work. I've just done it, after I've received there email. Sweet as a nut. Hope this helps.

If you want to use two or more different instruments from Module...say a Piano, Rhodes and Wurlitzer at the same time then you would need a way to "multi-instance" Module. Right now AU is the most promising technology that would enable this
I'm completely floored with this update!! Had multi #11 going, chose the Clean Strat patch for chan 3 gave it delay and a bit of chorus for modulation, OMG!!!! This is the guitar tone I've been trying to get on IOS without playing my real

Fired up Infinite Looper and recorded some drums, Bass, and had Guitarism driving the electric guitar track via midi into Infinite Looper! Wow! The sound quality of this update is amazing and I'm just using the stock sounds! Missed out on the sale. Don't know why this always happens, was going to buy the All sounds pack last night at 10pm PST and it was already at full price. They should always end the sale after the whole day is over for those of us that had to be at work. I hope they put the sale again cause it is totally worth it IMHO.

Definitely a nice Strat. I think it's been part of SampleTank since the very beginning when it was first released on desktop.
Since Kontakt is MIA on iOS this could be a golden opportunity for IK, But it's gotta embrace the plug-in. (AU)

I would love more AU instruments, but until then, you can layer as many instances of module as you'd like inside Gadget. The new midi feature allows you to play as many instruments as your RAM can handle.

Since global file management is, and probably forever will be, a nonstarter on Apple iOS getting samples & sounds from app's relies on AudioBus, etc.
But for me with SampleTank, an app I bought during a great sale and honestly never fell in love with, one of its best uses is as a source for resampling.
Some of the drums and percussion sounds are cool so Audio Share's recorder makes it easy to get the sounds, even with different velocities, and edit them down to usable samples.
The Alesis DM app was another like that, get some of the decent sounds off of it and then delete it for space.
i am finding that ST is sounding so much cleaner and better now (new audio engine) that it is like having a brand new app. Even with the existing sounds that I have.

I'm really digging the acoustic and electric sounds in ST 2.0 that I'm trying to find as many guitar midi files either acoustic or electric to download to drive ST but on the iPhone is there any app you guys recommend?
Really wish there was an Arpegiator of some sorts that could do realistic guitar strumming or play guitar chords via midi any recommendations?
Guitarism is my go to app for strumming and it works with Sampletank very well. It's finger-picking good!
