And I can confirm that "re-registering" an IK Multimedia hardware device in Settings/Account (in my case my iRig Pro, didn't have to register my iRig Keys again) unlocks the greyed out presets... And unlocked the Grid.
I tried with my iRig Keys and it didn't unlock anything - boo!
Does anyone know if the current price for the Pro sounds is its standard price, or is it an intriductory discount, and if the latter, when does it expire?
Can only imagine it isn't an intro price because they haven't pimped it as such which would make sense. I can also only imagine that there are some folks (only asking for a friend) who aren't wholly convinced about shelling out today but have told themselves they'll wait a few months and see what happens in the sales department later in the year...
So only the ipaino and other keyboard apps are on sale here? (50% off). I'm a bit confused here, actually.

What is included in the "All Sounds Pack"?
If you look at the other sounds being sold separately right under the all sounds pack , I believe those are included. I could have sworn I had purchased it but went back and couldn't find my receipt. I might just hold off but it's so tempting now.
I'm loving it. Thank you, IK Multimedia!
I'm convinced that the iGrand and iElectric sounds are the piano and electric piano sounds used in the Pro Pack, which is probably why they are on sale....maybe?
interesting thought. I always thought iGrand and iElectric were a repackaging of the SampleTank instruments with improved sound and dynamic. Now they're coming back to SampleTank, probably again improved? And then at some point those will go back to iElectric and iGrand as pro IAP.
The circle of sample life
Most of the free patches sound like simple sound fonts. I expected something more pro , like Kontakt libraries.
IK regularly discounts all their apps for 40% or 50% off, but they almost never discount their SampleTank In-App Purchases. The last 50% off sale I know of on IAPs was during holidays 2015. This summer sale is over, so maybe there will be another one by Thanksgiving or Christmas.
The Sampletank App is $20 (although it recently was given away for free) This gives you the core sounds of the app. It was previously referred to as Full, because you could start with SampleTank Free and then unlock these sounds.
Sampletank IAPs
$20 Miroslav Philharmonik - Mobile Edition
$20 Sample Moog - Mobile Edition
$20 Sonik Synth - Mobile edition
(this includes the Sonik Electronic, Keyboards, Drums & Percussion, Orchestral packs, which can be purchased separately for more money)
$10 The Grid
Recently they made the $70 IAP above available for $40 as "All Sound Packs" During the sale it was available for $20.
"All Sound Packs" is pre-Sampletank 2 and doesn't include Sampletank Pro sounds, Alan Parson Imperial Grand, Future Synths, or Elektronika Deep House. They should make this less confusing.
Now... there are also some SampleTank sounds that IK gives away for free if you buy certain gear from them and register them, including The Grid. As far as I know, these sounds are not available any other way and may remain grayed out. With the old interface, you simply didn't see them. While it took me awhile to get my Sonik sounds working, the stuff I got from registering my iRig Pro came through without any issues.
I have always thought the Miroslav sounds were the best orchestral bargain in iOS. I paid $10 and used them all the time. Turn off the ST reverb and put your own on them and they sound wonderful.
As the SampleTank MAX computer program has 52GB of samples, IK can keep adding more IAPs to iOS for a long time.
@Reid
That pretty much sums it up.
I hope they do continue to add packs that are downloadable. As long as they don't make the basic footprint in terms of gb size any larger. Then you can decide what to buy with space limitations in mind. I would however prefer they show the download size of packs in a similar way to iSymphonic.
Sampletank 2 sounds better than it did before. It has better features (imho) and I can see myself using the app much more.
Saying all that, I still have lots of iSymphonic and SynthMaster left to buy too
Anyone else seeing the following in the updated Sampletank: in Auria, Cubasis, and MTS, as an IAA instrument, Sampletank plays the same note over and over again regardless of the note sent from the DAW? Am I missing something?
(iPad Pro, iOS 9.3.4, no external device hooked up)
yes confirmed. not the same note in my case (Air 1/latest), but some random very high notes, completely unusable like that
At least for me, it doesn't appear to work with Auria in Audiobus either...good grief.
just tested the same in Cubasis ... no audio is recorded through AudioBus
funny though I thought the big disappointment with this update was that it still has only one IAA lane but in fact it has not even one anymore
I hope they'll be fixing it soon
Ditto for MusicStudio
Thank you for posting, I thought I was going mad. Unusable for me till this is fixed.
Just tried Cubasis and had it working for two seconds and then one long screeching sound that didn't go away until Sampltank was closed. Damn nation
Confirmed here as well.
After a bit of opening and closing of apps, I have it working with Cubasis, sending 3 channels of midi out to Sampletank, and then recording one audio channel back into Cubasis via Audiobus. I'm not sure why it didn't work first time, or why it then worked for me. IPad Pro. But makes me reluctant to invest any more in this until it is working smoothly.
I've only tried SampleTank 2 with AUM so far and had no problems. Audio recorded perfectly. iPad Pro 12.9" with latest iOS.
I'm definitely liking the new UI, but I agree, I REALLY want to see multiple IAA outputs.
I do all my mixing for my live set in AUM and I would love to be able to mix/add effects to individual SampleTank sounds in AUM.
I also think it would be great to see Ableton Link support.
And clearly, SampleTank as an Audio Unit would be the holy grail!
Might just be buyer's bias (although I have both) here but I prefer iSymphonic, but Miroslav has its place etc.
Does the iOS version of Sampletank have velocity layers? (I assume the desktop version does).
Pardon my ignorance, for those asking for Audio Unit and LINK and multiple IAA support, why is this important? If I'm just using my iPad for music production, do I need these features? I'm using Module, AUM, and Drum Perfect pro, but I'm not sure what I need to record midi and Audio, both for live gigs and Recording, as well as practicing. Thanks
@drjazz930 Multiple IAA support would allow me to mix & add effects to multiple sounds from SampleTank independently in AUM. This would be amazing for my live setup!
Of course, if SampleTank was an Audio Unit, I could just have multiple instances of Sampletank with the different sounds. But it seems like this would probably be more taxing to the CPU.
As far as LINK goes, it would for instance allow you to synchronize the tempo of the built in midi loops with any other app/computer in the LINK session. I personally don't use the built in midi loops, but i'm sure there are a ton of users who would love this functionality.
