  • There's only a few greyed out sounds and they look to be variations of sounds that you can access, so not a big issue for me. The overall clarity of the sounds is much better with the 2.0 release, I think I will be using it more than previously.

I had the same issue on my iPad Pro and, after a long email convo with IK support, this is what I had to do to resolve it:

    1. Delete all problematic expansions from within the app (for me it was Moog, Miroslav and Sonik).
    2. Delete Sampletank from device.
    3. Log out of iTunes and iCloud in device settings.
    4. Reboot.
    5. Log in to iTunes and iCloud.
    6. Reinstall Sampletank and restore purchases.

This finally fixed the greyed out expansion sounds for me.

Also this bug ALWAYS messes up something with the IAPs. When I restart the app, the keys are grayed out and I need to: restore purchases; delete the Imperial; download it again; then reselect a preset. Same also for the other expansion packs... I had already reported everything except the bad news in the paragraph above to IK Multimedia support.

  • Ads came back with vengeance in this version, yesterday I got one massive and colorful ad occupying the whole center of the screen. Hope it's only once otherwise this app its starting to feel just like one massive and expensive advertising space for IK multimedia products.

  • @Lacm1993 no, not once unfortunately it keeps on popping up. Aargh!!

and with increased frequency ... at least the ads are now in color

they are trying to annoy people into buying something, very old school.
Have to say, not very successfull with me. Korg does it better, adds great new features and content for free and unobtrusively offers great new things.

Ah, thanks for sharing this. I'll try it when I can. I also want to add that while the problems I've been having have been frustrating, IK Multimedia support have been really good. And I know the problems will be resolved at some point.

(Meanwhile trying to turn the tantalizing wait into a positive by brushing up on the numerous other apps I still haven't delved into in depth. )

Any one noticed? IK Multimedia have reintroduced their famous ad pop-ups, this time in full color. I thought they had grown beyond that behaviour ...

My son laughs at the 'sternly worded emails' I've sent to IK Multimedia about this, but their pop-up ads are such a slap in the face to their customers. In the latest SampleTank pop-up ads, on two separate occasions I've tapped the tiny 'X' only to have the purchase process begin. (The cancel area must be microscopic). I'm truly dumbfounded that they believe these tactics are helping their cause.

    Agreed. Poor strategy.

  • Especially since I've spent... well I don't want to figure it up, but easily enough to have purchased a mid-range Martin along with an American Strat over the last dozen years on their stuff. And I've done so because I believe their products are excellent. But the growing mental disconnect between 'develops top notch product' on one side, and 'advertises like a Russian porn King' on the other is beginning to give me a case of the queasies. ;)

Again, I think the sound quality improvements in the latest release are fantastic, and their quick response in fixing the IAA issue was very impressive. Why jettison the goodwill with intrusive ads almost everyone loathes? (At least allow those who hate the ads to turn off these 'special offers' in the options).

    Lol!!

  • On the subject of the ads: I think it's understandable on a free app. But on a paid app, this kind of intrusive marketing is unacceptable.

P.S.: The depressing side of it is that they go on with this advertising strategy because whoever is responsible for their marketing and sales department is convinced and managed to convince whoever is the boss that the strategy, forgive me the pun, will work as advertised.

That means: don't expect them to change their ways unless their sales are hurt. Fact is, I love most of their products, having purchased quite a few, and if their are to keep being supported/developed, the company must be in a healthy financial situation. The inexorable conclusion is that I either have to root for their marketing strategy to succeed, regardless of how badly I hate it and how disrespectful to their costumers I think it it is, or ditch their products altogether, no matter how I am satisfied with them. Tertium non datur. Oh, well...

  • For the record: I absolutely love Sample Tank, think it's the best of its kind on iOS, and found the updated version a really huge step forward. There you go...

Agreed! It's depressing how in some music forums, particular companies (include IK Multimedia) are the source of such vitriol that threads discussing their stuff are now completely useless. Obviously the ' Audiobus Forum Vibe' is better regardless, but I hope I've made it clear as well that it is just this one aspect of SampleTank that troubles me.

  • they are crippling their own product.

Thanks very much for sharing this — it fixed this problem for me, too. Nothing else helped. And thanks to the recent update of the app, the Imperial is no longer crashing on me, it seems. I tested by having Sustain Lock on in ThumbJam driving ST Imperial, and all went fine. Will also test with my Roland digital piano this evening. Relieved to finally have this beautiful iOS piano usable.

    Agreed!

    @ikmultimedia @IK_Multimedia

Any word on whether this behavior will cease? I was about to re-install Sampletank on my Ipad following the nice reviews of the 2.0 update. However, I refuse to be subjected to needless advertising from ANY app. which I have already purchased. The IK Store is available from the menus, right? If I feel a need to purchase some additional add-ons I can easily navigate to them. I do not need intrusive reminders interrupting my workflow.

    Thank you

  • I will relay your thoughts to the team.

Really annoying specially mid-concert which is how I made my some of my living (stoped me from making a change on time at the very beginning of the show). Thankfully I'm only a musician, if I were a doctor and an ad like that shows up mid surgery on of my instruments. You can only imagine the chaos.

Came on the app it's already full of IAP, registration of products, and other stuff. It only makes your product look cheap.

  • What? They started again to resort to these adware tactics? Just as I was developing a positive attitude towards them. Funny is, I was about to buy the Miroslav IAP. Luckily I read this in time: no way in hell I'll support these business pratices.

Yep same here. I made that decision years ago. I always figured that adware stuff would come back eventually. The new iLoud monitors were tempting though...but the brand is so tainted for me just can't do it. :/

  • Yeah agree with the guys and gals here. The ads leave a bad taste in the mouth and don't make me inclined to purchase further.

  • Sampletank 4 for desktop just been announced I wonder if the iOS version will get a update?

  • New strummer? Holy crap this looks good!

  • Looks interesting

  • No auv3, annoying ad behavior, it just adds iaps...who cares, nothing for me here.

  • They’ve been talking about Auv3 for a while now. I bet the iOS version 3 will have it . Also there’s an ad for iRig Keys when the thing is loading up. After that, nothing. It’s realpy not a big deal.

  • I’d love them to deliver an app that does all this on IOS and as an AUv3 - ok, maybe with rather less than 250gb of sound data, but the structure and editing that they are delivering here. The functionality in the IOS version doesn’t even match the original Sampletank of decades ago - come on IK, I know you can do it!
