seem like a obvious question, but can you import your own samples and assign them to pads, or keys, and possible edit them as well?

So how good is sample tank for ethic percussion and other sounds like that?
I have 0 interest in more synth sounds, there is no way those can be as awesome as some of the apps I already have. Or more normal instrument libraries either, just not my thing.
I am looking for something with cool African rhythms and drums, that kind of thing.
Also can I delete the sounds I don't want? I really don't want to waste storage on sounds I will never use!

Hi I'm Wrecked and I'm new here. I have the new Sampletank installed on the ipad pro. It works fine with audiobus and as an IAP. Last night soon after the download it kept crashing, this was in standalone mode and mainly in song creation mode. Live mode was better but it did crash when I went to extremes. I have only bought the drums from the pro pack and they sound good, they were in the sale, whether I would buy them at full price is a different matter. Anyway, great forum. By the way. For those unsuspecting folk, Version 2 is a large download. 1.5 gb I think? Cheers
I tried recording some automation of the dials today to make a filter swell, but it did not record. In the absence of more detailed sound editing, this would be a nice enhancement (if IK M are listening).

I disable the internal sound and use it as an MIDI-controller... Great app! Perfect to Gadget & Sampletank (or any good sounding synth and pianoapp)...

Thumbs up to both because I think Earhoof is underrated/underused, but you do HAVE to check Drumjam, if for no other reason(s) than a) everyone says it's the shit and b) most everyone complains it's got too MUCH ethnic going on...
I've been trying to import a simple midi file into ST 2 and can't find any info on how to do it......how could they not include this feature?? Isn't this something basic? I don't understand how it's possible to export midi but not import it,,,,,,ugggghhh!! Is there a way to setup Audioshare or AUM to make this work? Sorry to sound so frustrated, but there really should be a much simpler system to load, import and export files without having to use 5 separate apps just for one operation!
Hmm, big problem... It's crashing for me every single time playing the Imperial piano.
I'm using a Roland digital piano as my MIDI keyboard. ST2 crashes every time after I've played for maybe 15-60 seconds. I have an iPad Pro 12.9" 128Gb and the problem continues even when I set higher latency in the settings or use it as IAA in AUM... Shutting down the app didn't help, nor did rebooting the iPad.
Has anyone else had a problem specifically with the Imperial? It hasn't happened to me yet with the standard sounds. And it's a big bummer for now because this is so far sounding like the very piano I've been looking for on iPad.
@Simo I have had similar crashes when using an external keyboard in multi mode with four instruments stacked. Starts OK then crashes after playing for a short burst. I'm using Air 2 iOS 9.3.3 with Pro pack not Imperial. I assumed it was to do with processing power as seems OK with upto three instruments.
Sampletank is really just a sound module. The recording feature is an add-on, and I doubt they want to expand it much further anytime soon. The Patterns feature as well. I would recommend Infinite Looper as an inexpensive sequencer to drive ST, as they work very well together, except that IL also doesn't import MIDI files just yet. I believe it is coming soon, though. Otherwise, you may have no choice but to shell out for a pricier DAW to get the functionality you're looking for, and also use Sampletank as it's intended.
I also don't use Sample Tank much as a MIDI recorder/player except for something very simple. I find it's not accurate enough, glitchy, and no editing. The patterns are fun to combine, jam around with but, I think the real value of the app is as a sound module. Trigger it from a MIDI controller or sequencer. I prefer to do MIDI in an app that's designed for MIDI.
I've submitted a support request to IK Multimedia about the broken iAA issue where the new Sampletank plays the same high note over and over again when receiving midi from Auria, Cubasis, MTS, etc. I noted it seems to be widespread on a number of devices, happens after a restart, etc.
There first response was to turn the device on and off. Sigh.
Hopefully they'll have a better follow up. I'm sure it can't hurt for everyone who is experiencing the issue to let them know so they understand it's not an isolated problem.
I'm finding that Guitarism is out of tune on the Third string has anyone noticed it? Was driving the overdriven Strat patch in ST and the Third string doeasnt sound in tune Man bummer...
I can't get guitar capo to play like Guitarism as every time I strum it asks me to chose a chord. But can someone test it please?
Forgot to mention that this happens only when you strum but not when playing individual strings .
Confirmed. I was able to record through Audiobus okay, and setting up separate MIDI and Audio tracks worked in Auria Pro and Cubasis. But simply choosing IAA for a MIDI track produced the stuck high note.
I was hoping for Sample Tank to be able to send and write MIDI to Auria's piano roll: not there yet. But still enjoying the update.
Hmm, I'll see if anything I can affect might help for whatever reason, until there's a fix. In my case it was only the single instrument, the Imperial grand (I tried several of the presets for it, and it happened with all of them), not stacked instruments. Hope IK may address these problems soon, the update is highly inspiring to me otherwise.
I forgot to mention, I'm running the latest iOS version, 9.3.4 (on the iPad Pro 12.9" 128Gb). And plenty of storage space left.
EDIT: Using the pedal for any amount of time seems to make the crash happen for me.
Sorry Sir. I find this puzzling. Capo plays 'auto' nicely for me. I'm guessing I'm misunderstanding your wanting. BUT thanks for the suggestion to use it with ST. Very pleasing.
Thanks. ST2 crashed out again last night but only in song mode ( 1st page if you like) Live mode has only gone up in smoke once or twice. I left st2 connected to audiobus to Cubasis for an hour without using, then went back and had another session, after about 20 mins it crashed. I closed all, restart and nothing, changed to live mode and it worked, back to song mode page and it didn't. Hard restart, live mode fine song mode not.
Also when using the loops ( pro pack drums) there is a lag. Press a key and there is a delay before start, so moving from one drum part to say a fill in live mode would be an issue.So, to me there are bugs a plenty.
Thanks... I guess maybe on the iPhone I don't have the auto mode for Capo but I like to do my own strumming. Got Guitarism to drive ST realistically but that third string doesn't sound tuned to my ears. Electric guitar has been my main instrument so when I strum a full chord I get a nicely tuned chord on my Strat but it doesn't sound right to my ears on Guitarism . But at least I can do individual spicing of strings and that sounds better.
The follow up suggestion from IK Multimedia about the SampletTank IAA midi issue was to delete and reinstall the app, but going through the process didn't fix the problem. Luckily I have a fast connection and wi-if network, but I would guess those who don't (or who have lots of user presets) will want to think twice about taking this advice.
I'm wondering, has anyone loaded Sampletank into an instrument slot in Auria or Cubasis, and successfully sent it midi? It would be frustrating indeed if they were advising folks to wipe out all their customized content for a 'solution' that has no chance of working.
I'll try it out and report back.
