  • Paranoid question.
There's zero danger in losing any of my projects if I update to Cubasis 2.0 correct?
Is there any benefit and not opening my new toy right away?

  • @LFS i've asked this a couple times on this thread but noone seems to want to answer. Have you enabled automation for AU-x parameters yet in Cubasis ?

  • @Bloodline said:
Might sound a silly question but what is a channel strip, how is it best used and how is it different from the individual effects?

You can get the same functionality by using individual FX but that requires a lot of setup (loading the FX) and also a lot of switching between FX.

The channel strips puts all of the 'common' tools needed when mixing onto one screen, not only that, this channel strip uses code from the Desktop Cubase giving it a higher quality than that achieved by using the regular cubasis FX.
Hope this answers your question :)

  • Is there any disadvantage to getting there through the Cubasis LE 2 IAP?

AU Parameter automation would be too much of a big deal to leave out of the release notes. So I'm going to very much doubt it's in 2.0. But when it does arrive.... the universe shall be totally healed of all chaos.

    Hi ExAsperis99,

While it is fine to update app versions, we strongly suggest to backup your files on a regular basis.

Cubasis offers various options to do so such as iTunes File Sharing, Cubasis WiFi Server, Dropbox, iCloud Drive, external hard drive support etc.

It can be painful loosing files due to various reasons...

    Best,
    Lars

Automation for Audio Unit parameters is not yet supported with Cubasis.

    Thanks

does cubasis have destructive or non-destructive audio editing?
and does it have audio import via the iTunes music library?

The full feature set in-app purchase of Cubasis LE 2 will update Cubasis LE to the same feature set of Cubasis 2.

  • Why is my cubasis not upgrading? It is in the App Store but doesn't show up as an available upgrade for me? Still on 1.9.9

  • Hi jnvdb,

I'm sorry to hear about your Cubasis 2 update problems.

All of this is handled exclusively by Apple over the App Store.
Please give it a try to reset/refresh your network.

Hope the problem is solved quickly at your end!

    Thanks
    Lars

Having said that, I updated with all my projects, user instruments, etc intact.

  • Looks really great...But I can't still midi slave it, right ?...

  • everything should be updated with mellotron sounds. my mouth, when i speak, should sound like the mellotron choir, instead of sounding like my voice with its irrelevant words.

  • My internet connection speed is crawling today (<0.2Mbit/s) for some strange reason (they are digging outside in preparation for a bit better solution than xDSL).

From what I've read and seen so far it seems pretty nice indeed :)
And I feel Channel-Grouping, Side-Chaning etc. will come in a later update.
I hope 'fft-histograms' will pop-up some day in the future where they are applicable(Like EQ's).

I'll see what 'improvements' I can come up with after I've given it a spin :)
(Separate Grid setting for Arrange Window and Midi-Editor etc.).

From the screenshots it looks like Mini-Sampler is largely unchanged for this update...

Over all it feels like a solid update.

  • Hi crony,

    Yes you are right,
Cubasis does not support beeing a Midi Clock slave and can't receive Midi clock parameters from other devices.

Limitations of time-stretch and pitch shift

The addition of real-time-capable time-stretch and pitch shift featuring zplane’s élastique 3 in Cubasis 2.0 gives you countless options to creatively work with audio files on the fly.

These new features enable you to easily tempo match audio loops to your song’s tempo in real-time or individually change the keys of your project’s audio tracks.

Please note that the performance of real-time time-stretch and pitch shift depends on many factors such as the iPad model you use as well as the sample rate, the hardware latency project setting, the number of tracks and instruments and effects used in your project. In addition, using inter-app data streaming technologies such as Audiobus, Audio Unit and Inter-App Audio along with a number of assigned instrument apps has a significant impact on the performance of your iPad.

Depending on what iPad you use, the number of tracks that contain time-stretch or pitch shift and the complexity of your project, will sooner or later provoke performance limits.

There are several options to improve performance if you encounter performance limits with time-stretch and pitch shift:

    • Select Setup > Audio > Hardware Latency and choose Medium.
    • For best CPU efficiency select Stretch > Auto > Mobile.
    • For best resulting quality select Stretch > Auto > Pro and freeze individual tracks or the entire project.
    • Use the Freeze function to render tracks into audio tracks.
    • Reduce the number of instrument tracks and effects used in your project.

wow, what an amazing update. I love it! Nice job. I still can't believe it's free.
one question. can you automate the transpose /pitch shift? to make like a riser effect before the drop in a song. ( see 0.33 sec I. this clip for this effect )
is it possible? if not please consider for a future update. thanks

  • I'm an Auria user/fan, but this offer and update is very tempting...

  • I think you can get a riser effect from one of the spin FX.

Yea, that seems like the easiest way to go about it

  • @LFS I love the update so far!

I feel you and the whole team deserve a vacation now.
But once you all return from that vacation I've got some requests that can be cued up :)

    • Channel Grouping.
    • Side-Chan compressor/ducker.
    • Further Improvements to Mini Sampler to bring it closer to Groove Agent (IAP?).
    • Chop Audio-Event(s) into segments using Transient-Detection.
    • Long-Tap on Selected Audio-Events to create a 'Mini Sampler' Instrument.(Or save them as individual files).
    • Histograms for Parametric EQ making it easier to filter out unwanted frequencies.
    • Improved File-Management (I'll think of some constructive ideas and suggestions).

I'm not out of constructive ideas yet as I'm just getting started...

  • Very good, @LFS: I am truly impressed.
Does it include some form of transient detection/audio warping algorythm?
All the best, and congrats for the update.

Dude! You're like Dudley Dursley on his birthday! "I only see 27 presents here! Last year there were 28!"

( of course, I wondered the same things too…)

I was going to give them time to take a breather - but nice list!

That's my 'weakness' as I always unwillingly see things that can be improved and try to be as constructive as I humanly can. (See it as 'free' Customer Research & Development for those Developers that see it that way).

I just try put all the collective ideas, requests & wishes that this forum produces into words :)

Cubasis 2 - Music. Simply Made.

    THANK YOU!!
It's amazing to be able to accomplish all this on an iPad... let alone 1 app that contains all these features. Thank you

  • P.S.: anyone knows if I can and how do I set more than one time signature/tempo with Cubasis 2? I'm having a hard time to find it...

  • @theconnactic said:

I think we need to send @LFS a request for a tempo/time-signature-track once the team has gotten their well deserved break after the 2.0 release :)

  • Ah, not there yet, @Samu ? Okay, and how about the quantize grid? How do I quantize to, say, a triplet? And how do I set the time signature of the project to, say, 7/8?

While I'm not able to give you a date, tempo/signature track is included on our list already.
