  • Might well be time I re downloaded and checked out Cubasis again. Especially if the zooming in the piano roll is now much better (is it?)

  • Big congrats and many thanks to Lars and team. I'm officially off the fence.

  • I take it that Cubasis will record midi ccs going into it and record these as automation tracks?

  • And I assume that, unlike AP, Cubasis does not send / automate per note aftertouch/key pressure? (Eg to Animoog)

    Any insight appreciated.

It's infinitely better and the refreshed ui makes it easier to see individual blocks even when zoomed out

Cool. Still no way to restrict the piano roll to a specific scale though, I guess?

If there is it's eluded me

I'd love for that feature down the line though

Thank's Steinberg for this amazing update of Cubasis!

Just like Auria Pro, this worldclass software has a Pro-tag on it with a silly low prize-tag!

25 or $50, it doesn't matter, it's time for our beloved developer to be decent payed!

The future is bright for us intresting in musicmaking!

    Rock on dudes!

just use thumbjam as a midi source..... its pretty much what i do.
hell. i use it to remap my physical keyboard to white keys only in whatever scale i want.

  • Awesome update, thanks.

That old issue with the MiniSampler drum pads assignment - will it ever be fixed? :)

Nice job guys, the interface is so much more zippy now, and the zooming is much more predictable, feels like a totally new product, can't wait to give the channel strip and Spin FX a go tonight when I get home from work.

I applaud you for giving us all of this, managing to keep the surprises quiet, and giving it all to us for free :)

    Thank you

P.S. Now that you got this out, I guess you have nothing left to do :D....What's next ?

    Probably holidays

  • Downloading on a slow connection now, but looking forward to the new Cubasis! The channel strip looks awesome. And tempo and key change will be especially great! All for free plus all of the other goodies added, what is not to love really. Thanks Cubasis guys!

    It's still a bit 'odd' :)
(There is no way to create a 'default preset' for the pads that is attached to an instrument).

I'm already making a 'list' of some of 'odder' things.

The Auto-Quantise feature is nice but it's not realtime meaning it automatically quantises after record is disabled.
So It's kinda tricky to do multi-passage recording since the previous 'passage' is not automatically quantised...

I know I'm not the only one who will finds these 'oddities' so I'll give Cubasis 2.x some time and wait of others find issues to and confirm if I've also bumped into the same issues...

Lars (@LFS) is our main man regarding Cubasis here and I think it's part of his job to make Cubasis the best it can be, and we're all here to help him accomplish the task right? :)

There is quite a lot of 'new' stuff so what I've done so far is to dig thru the 'old issues' to see if they have been fixed.
(These include the tripled-grids, IAA/AU-X track-freezing that is 'off the grid' to name a few).

Scrolling works a lot more 'predictable' now and that's good!

  • Whats with Link Support?

    Whats with Link Support?

Link support is vastly more difficult to implement in a DAW than, say, a drum machine. Lot's of issues to address. See recent threads on the issue.

to be fair atleast midi clock slave would be enough. just use link to midi. currently we have none :/

  • Awesome sounding new Microlouge instruments.

If you are happy to have Cubasis control the tempo, and just want to sync other link apps then you can use MIDI Link Sync, you have Cubasis as MIDI Master, sending timing info to link apps (via MIDI Link Sync), this works fine. If those apps that you want to sync support both MIDI sync and Link then use MIDI Sync as preference because you may be able to get synced start/stop which Link does not support. You may have no option here though as some apps really do not do MIDI sync very well.

MIDI Slave has the same hurdles to get over that Link support does. Real-time time-stretch is the first step.

It's very strange because all the default drum kits have a default preset (С1 to D#2) which I'd be happy to use too. I don't understand why my custom kits can't use that default preset and always default to this (even if I assigned the same 16 notes, from C1 to D#2):

  • The new zooming behavior is absolut fantastic - it's a huge improvement . And at least adjusting AU's like Klevgrand Enkl is a lot easier to adjust on the 12.9" iPad. I'm very impressed by this update - the channel-strip is also great! So many new things to explore.

  • The channel strip setting are project only? You can not have some on one track and some different settings on others?

To me it feels finally and beautifully and simply workable. I'm sure all the other bits and pieces are significant, but this new ease-of-use with the piano roll puts Cubasis squarely back on the front page. Major, major thingie.

It is per track I believe ?

Per track. It has a CPU hit if you use it too much, though.

  • Hmmm, not sure but I seem to be getting the same stings for every track. If I turn the filter on for track one . The same settings get used for track two. If I turn it off for track two it is off on one also.

  • Really? Didn't realize that yet. So it's another critical feature for my work that, for now, only Auria Pro can provide. But I have no doubt Lars will fix this in the near future.

If you're jumping from track to track with the strip open, it doesn't seem to refresh. Try closing the strip and opening it again and you'll see the settings are different.

Nope it works I was doing it wrong, no big surprise.
