Brilliant update!
A Lars a day helps you work, rest and play!
Thanks for answering that's helped clear things up for me
Glad to hear you like the update, Samu!
Yes, we all need a break obviously, but the next update will be in the making soon.
Best,
Lars
Top notch update @LFS and Cubasis team. Well done
Quick Cubasis 2 question: can the loop and sampler content be easily deleted to free up space?
Thanks again for the cameo
All I can say is WOW!.......... IPad Air 1 may have to be replaced at some point for a Big Boy. The CPU spikes up a lot with the AU Units. Maybe because the ole girl is getting on a bit now? The audio stretch is totally awsome(simular to Ableton Live to a degree). I thought Auria Pro was meant to have this technology built in?(if it was, I couldn't get it to work). Shame Nanologue wasn't added to Cubasis 2, as an AU Unit. But hey! Well done!..... Thank you very much indeed to @Lars & his team for a F@%king awesome update. It was worth the wait...... Very much appreciate all the hard work you all have done.
I've only had a quick minute to open this and play with it so far, but wow, those new Micrologue presets sound amazing. Like, far better than the previous ones. Not sure if there was some engine upgrade behind the scenes or if they paid a talented synth patch designer for these, but they are really great.
Also not sure I would categorize them as "cutting-edge modern." They sound like really good vintage analog for the most part.
Isn't Micrologue a better version of Nanologue?
Time stretching in Auria is there since non-Pro Auria, @studs1966! It would work automatically for acidized loops, but for regular audio files, it requires user interaction. Two fingers on the region extremity and you're set.
Highly impressed all round. Think the video explaining the new features is excellent -competition eh, Doug!!!! Glad I stuck with Cubasis.
I Like most of Cubasis 2.0 but seriously Lars (@LFS). Where are the options for 'Triplet Grids' ?
I still only see Grid-Options for Bars, 1/2, 1/4, 1/8, 1/16, 1/32 and 1/64 and 'Off'
It is possible to Quantise to Triplets but there are no 'Editor Grids' available for Triplets
So for future update please separate the grid settings.
One Grid-Setting for the 'Arranger' and one Grid-Setting for the 'Midi Editor'.
(For Audio/Samples 'Time' is the best option for as it allows sample accurate precision editing after 'quick' trimming is done with the other modes).
And well 'Audio' still arrives 'too early'(off the grid) when freezing IAA-Instrumets & AU-X Plug-Ins
After playing with it for a little while, all I can say is it's a really great update, even more if you consider it was a free update.
It still lacks a lot of critical features for my own work: I cannot use it as a primary DAW without real time audio warping, transient detection, complex grid and time signatures etc., so I'm back to Auria Pro for now.
I'll be keeping an eye on updates though, since Lars already signaled with new features soon: as I said before, I am truly impressed, and it's nice to have some serious competition for Auria Pro. Everybody wins. I wonder what Intuos has under the sleeve for BM3. Interesting times to be an iOS producer.
All the best!
For me it's still the lack of Aux sends, busses, and cross-fading. I'd also like to have bigger and more precise faders. Relatively basic features for a DAW. However this is a FREE update after all, so complaining is churlish. It's very generous to roll out a major update for free.
Is it possible to turn off the L & R markers from snapping to a selection? So often I accidentally invoke this function.
Also, with reference to changing tempo, is there a demo video of this in action?
For now, after much soul searching and chatting on here, I see Cubasis and Auria combo as my best solution
Really happy with the free update

@LFS Congratulations to you Lars and of course to your team. Evolution (of a platform, let alone a single product) takes many steps, this is a good one.
Yes, are we not just over 5 years in to iOS evolution? Pretty groovy place to be if you ask me
Sorry I meant Microlouge.
@LFS - First, congratulations on the release. I'm a novice Cubasis user, having only owned it for about 48 hours. I actually was working on learning how to use it about 12:30am this morning (U.S. Central Time), then woke up and saw that this update dropped shortly thereafter. Oh well, probably got me a little more sleep.
The new features sound great. I know that auto-quantizing and time stretch were big requests, as well as some of the U.I. adjustments and both made it in. I will definitely be watching the 2.0 video, as well as some older tutorials that I assume are out there from thesoundtestroom, etc.
Somebody above noted that the CPU does spike a lot with AU usage - I noticed this too! I'm on an Pro 12.9", so that's about as much processing power as currently available on iOS, but I had a few different AU instruments opened and there was some glitching going on. What is the recommended technique for use/recording of AU instruments in Cubasis? Open one at a time and then freeze the track? Or is it normal to have several AU's open on different tracks while you control one at a time?
Thanks again!
= If this would come true, it would be crazy... It would be close to "no more need for other music apps" on my iPad.
And I would also love the following proposal as I have too many user files to browse already, making it very complicated sometimes
Anyway : thanks so much Lars and all of Steinberg Cubasis Team... This is a wonderful update we have today !
Maybe I'm all Fingers & Thumbs? It's seems easier on Cubasis, I found now...... load a sample, then drag/stretch it to the bar(4 bar for example) with one finger, then hey presto!.... it's done!..... couldn't do that in AP. In fact it's easier than when using Cubase(where In Ableton, you drag a sample into a track, & it's done automatically)....... Don't get me wrong, I love both, Cubasis & AP. They are very excellent apps. But I found Cubasis a better all rounder, & easier to use. I use a Cubasis a the main app, then master with AP, as it has the best FX(FabFilters/PSP)..... Also, Cubasis is better at handling Midi files(free ones from the Internet)....... bare in mind, that Steinberg have a full team working on Cubasis, whereas Rim is a one man band....... Hats off & respect to both of them for there hard work & devotion that they bring iOS musicians.
Still showing 1.9.9 even though when i "open" the cubasis 2 link in the app store. I have the fx purchased prior and i see those listed as 3.99 in the app so seems something is not fully updated.
Anything i need to do or is this a "wait until apple fixes it" thing? Im not familiar with apple and its app store (android fanboy).

To my way of thinking, IOS based music making is the new frontier. Synth pioneers of the 80's (in terms of pop and rock accessible to many people, not just ELP and the like) such as Numan, Human League, Depech Mode, Ultravox and OMD, etc, were initially looked down on by the industry and 'proper' musicians. Now, it's the turn of IOS. All, it really needs is for someone to use these apps on a hit record. That would be the blue touch paper.
And, it's not just for kids, this time it's for everyone with a sonic imagination, and a few quids.
Awesome update!!!!!
Hi JP-08,
Might be helpful to double check your iTunes & App Store settings in the settings dialogue of your iPad.
All Cubasis products should appear with their latest available versions.
Thanks,
Lars
OMG I Love the new channel strip. I will be working with this all day then I will be making another youtube video
Outstanding update! Thank you so much for not ignoring older 32-bit devices; Cubasis2 is running fine on initial tests on my ipad4/iOS 9.3.5. I haven't updated the app on my mini2 which is on iOS10, as I've been too busy checking it out on the ipad4.
The CPU meter was running a little hot when using some IAA instruments, even when disengaged, but once I swiped them away, the meter went to almost zero. I didn't notice it as much with Viking synth as an AU, but that is not a complete test by any means.
Congrats to the whole Steinberg team for a real classy update!!!
@LFS ,
Is There anything i can do? I went to the setting and i see the app store radio button ticked on as normal.
Am i supposed to uninstall and reinstall?
Appreciate your help and pardon my ignorance of apples app store use.
