I guess it's horses for courses, but I take my hat off to you, sir. As a "creator" of "music" on the iOS platform, I feel as excited as a kid at Christmas. For you to show not just restraint for this release but actual disappointment is admirable. I can't imagine what you were hoping for, but I hope Korg get round to developing it very soon.

Exactly, each to our own. Not everyone is enthused by the same things. I feel sure that many folk, like yourself, will be very happy with this addition, and there is never any doubt as to its pedigree.

As for what I was hoping for - and I'm hardly alone in this - it was a lead guitar gadget, of the same quality as Madrid, or perhaps even Korg's version of a voice synth such as Exhale. Those, I would buy in an instant.

Exhale in Gadget form? I'd sign up for that—though very little sounds less likely to happen than that. Lead guitar gadget would also be nice. I've been getting "acceptable" results with the upper octaves of Madrid run through ample compression / distortion. Also Firenze through distortion has given some decent results in the "hey, that almost sounds like an electric guitar" department.

I ran a Casio CZ-101 through a Rat distortion in the old days. I had guitarists say they didn't know I played guitar when they heard some of my songs. Perception... ;)

Disappointed not an AU. That seems quite backward on new apps now. But almost certainly it's a decision to promote Gadget.

This is from the Korg website. It's a bit ambiguous though:

"ARP ODYSSEi is compatible with Audiobus and Inter-App Audio, and can also be used as a sound module for GarageBand".

What does it mean, exactly? Thankfully we'll find out very soon.

    Yeah that's weird, fingers crossed.

    Exactly B)

  • I suspect they just mean IAA into Garage Band (rather than AU).

    But we'll see.

  • I think sound module inside GB sounds much more like audio unit, and the way that sentence is constructed it would be strange if they were just rephrasing the IAA capabilities that way.

Should say that it's telling me it's not yet available in the US store.....patience, patience....not that I'm just going to go running out like a small child of indeterminate gender wailing for cake. No.

How did you get that to show Johnny I've updated gadget but it's not even listed yet ?

When you hit the plus button to add a new gadget to an existing tune it shows you a page of all the available.....except in this case it's NOT available yet. Good to know that even the boffins at Korg can probably be beset by a last minute panic :)

Haven't you got it there yet? Still nothing here...

  • I love these app release count downs ...
I hope for at least another few hours of suspense building

  • I'm really surprised that everybody's not thrilled with this. Have you seen the video on the korg site? XY pads, 16 step arpeggiator. Looks freaking awesome.

Could be that demo track in Gadget. It certainly doesn't thrill me but I don't know much about classic synths. Somebody said it seems like Berlin enhanced. Good enough for me, but no cartwheels yet.

The demo track does nothing for me at all, but the potential of the thing excites me.

  • The demo is a tad underwhelming, in my view. Of course, being a gadge-fiend, I will most probably buy it.

  • I totally get it. But I remember when the forum went apeshit for Kamata. I'm like, You like that? :)

I think the forum explodes over new toys and not promises of new toys... To come... Some time... Hey here is a link! That doesn't work... Hey kids, You can open your gifts in a few hours.... Etc..

  • It's here!

well, the looks of the Berlin gadget are certainly based on Arp Odyssey but otherwise they are really two different things imo

Superficialy it seems to slot in 'that sound', which i like.

  • Deepest synth in gadget so far! Outstanding sounds! Very happy on first impression!

    Big thanks to korg!

  • I am curious how gutted the gadget vs. Standalone app is.

  • Does it have an xy note pad? Lexington?

  • No xy pad, but 3 pages of parameters! + all the gadget goodies :)

  • So iap on top? How much and what is it?

  • Once you buy the standalone and it's iaps, they show up in gadget, it's soooo worth it!

  • Not available in the german store yet

the alternative skins show up as well?

  • I thought Lexington was included in the price when you bought Odyssei and not as an IAP? That might be me out if that's the case.
