Come on kids, i could use a little more peer pressure... Soundclouds/losing of shit etc. I have forty minutes till i hit the train, plenty of time to pull the trigger/lose my life savings on yet another synth app :)

Once you buy the standalone and it's iaps, they show up in gadget, it's soooo worth it!

So actually it's (also) a standalone like iM1 and can be used as such?

  • I wonder how the FM will sound on this one. That's where most"virtual analog"tend to fail.

  • Have this now, definitely not an AU but looks good.

  • It'sin the US store> @AudioGus said:

Get it. And hold me accountable if it doesn't wet your whistle ;)

30 minutes with it and it's got character all over it. It sounds really damn good and alive under this plate of glass.

If anyone is still wondering, after you purchase it will show up in Gadget automatically, or can be used as a standalone in AUM etc. Does not appear to have any AU guts. Haven't put many of the features through their paces, or done any sequencing in Gadget yet, but damn it's a very good sounding synth. Will have to do a comparison later with Oddity from G-Force as that is my only litmus test. But I am inclined to think it will put up a good fight.

Jeez, alright alright, enough already! I got it. Sounds like a real growed up software synth living inside of Gadget. The kids will have to forget about college but at least I'm happy now.

  • 4 tracks in gadget, and my iPad mini 2 is on his knees! Freeze is necessary here :)

  • I had my finger on the trigger for the reissue a couple of years back. Love this. And as somebody mentioned,...don't get the indifference. More this , less chiptune for me.

As it should be, finaly! Max these pads out! I am happy to just record into Blocs on the fly.

Not a chiptune man, and this doesn't sound like that at all (to me). Bought, and the IAPs, and the richness is lovely/worth the candle. What a clever USP they've developed with this 'standalone but in Gadget also' model. Almost like the guys over at Korg know what they're doing...

I guess it's horses for courses, but I take my hat off to you, sir. As a "creator" of "music" on the iOS platform, I feel as excited as a kid at Christmas. For you to show not just restraint for this release but actual disappointment is admirable. I can't imagine what you were hoping for, but I hope Korg get round to developing it very soon.

Exactly, each to our own. Not everyone is enthused by the same things. I feel sure that many folk, like yourself, will be very happy with this addition, and there is never any doubt as to its pedigree.

As for what I was hoping for - and I'm hardly alone in this - it was a lead guitar gadget, of the same quality as Madrid, or perhaps even Korg's version of a voice synth such as Exhale. Those, I would buy in an instant.

Exhale in Gadget form? I'd sign up for that—though very little sounds less likely to happen than that. Lead guitar gadget would also be nice. I've been getting "acceptable" results with the upper octaves of Madrid run through ample compression / distortion. Also Firenze through distortion has given some decent results in the "hey, that almost sounds like an electric guitar" department.

Chiang Mai is my go to for distorted guitar leads and power chords when I'm too lazy or unskilled to bust out my Strat.

Yup. What i said was that more this, less chiptune. Can't stand chiptune. I researched the hell out of the oddysey a couple of yeara back and have always loved it. Biggest issue was not being able to save presets like many classic synths. Dealbreaker for me since otherwise the synths and pedals i have had i tend to leave in one sweet spot and use them less. I need to ne able to bring back something i spent an hour on without doing it all over again.

  • hey, has anyone seen if the GUI changes in Gadget if you have the revision IAP and select a revision preset? and are the extra presets there. ? tempted as the white facia looks cleaner for use in Gadget..

  • @RockySmalls you can access insert fx in the instrument window and there is now an undo button for smaller things like placing a single note in the piano roll

Where's the undo button? I don't find it...

  • db909, thanks v. much, I should have made it clearer, i meant the Gui in the Lexington gadget if you have the Odyssei synth AND the revision 1&2 iap for it.

  • @Ivan_Dj you gotta do something worthy of undoing first before it appears. Place a note in the piano roll, it will pop up in the grey area at the bottom

  • Oh ok, thought it was new. Have been waiting for it forever. So great. But i was told on another site that it was there already

  • Here's a slick demo of what this thing is capable of:

    Sold !... Thx man !

  • One of the things I remember the Odyssey for is this track, Don Airey using the Oddy for the pulsing rhythm while using a Minimoog to solo over the top - those were the days!
