I think Gadget was always like that. It remembers the last thing you did but you have to save it to keep it if you want to start something new or load another project.

Yes it was like that before Lexington, however I have regular crashes on my mini2 (with loss of data) since the last update, and that never occurred before, so, I save regularly now (knowing that saving is what causes the crash sometimes)

  • Hmm I guess I was just absent-mindedly hitting 'Save' during my August-to-November projects, then*. But that makes it even more disturbing as it means I have no idea why Gadget wiped them all out of its library!

(*if only I'd been absent-mindedly hitting 'export to cloud as well...)

I'm pretty bad about backing up my devices.

But I do share Gadget tracks (anything decent) on iCloud between my devices so at least it means they are kind of backed up.

Brief work-in-progress groovette made entirely with Lexington (and an instance of London for the drums)

Finished version - 5 Lexingtons (which is all I could run on my Air2)

Can't put a finger on it but it reminded me of The Fletch Theme by Harold Faltermeyer :D

  • This must be one of the most fun synths for programming I've ever tinkered with.

Did you have them saved to iCloud ?......I did with mine and they all vanished one day, turns out I had to log back into icloud on the device (after an iCloud update I think), then after a few minutes they came back. Seems like they were moved to iCloud rather than copied there.

  • No such luck. You know, I wonder if the files are 'in there' somewhere in an iFunbox-accessible sense, though. I should try that.

It is strange that files have disappeared, I could understand old version of files being there, that could be explained by the not saving thing, but for files to disappear, something must have happened.

  • Can you use the Kaoss pads in Gadget, or only in the stand-alone app?

Gadgets much better now with Lexington but needs program change per scene for presets especially now as its so cpu intensive...wishing I had a pro. I'm finding it pretty clunky compared to Modstep in some basic arrangement tasks too since working in Gadget more, so I hope Korg is on the case etc :)

The usual way to deal with preset changes in Gadget is just to load multiple instances of the same Gadget, each with the needed settings, and then place the notes on the one you want. The assumption there, of course is that the idle instances aren't consuming resources. Do idle instances of Lexington still consume memory and CPU when not in use?

Yes it appears to take up more resources, can't have too many instances in an air 2 before it gets overloaded even when idle. Wavestation is better than ODYSSEi though in gadget resources since it's more sample based.

  • That's too bad - also good to know. maybe freezing tracks would be a workaround.

  • I love the sound of the ODYSSEi, but the faders especially for tuning drive me nuts...as well as iAA integration. And MIDI. Ah...

  • Anyone figured out a way to get ODYSSEi to sync with anything? Tried MIDI Link Sync with ODYSSEi hosted in AUM. Nada. Lack of Link in Korg's standalone synths seems a strange omission, especially since the Gadget versions of synths omit important functionality.

Sadly this does not work, and has been reported at Korg user forums since day one. Nothing happens, guess we must learn to live with It. At least they don't make empty promises about fixing the issue, they simply ignore the user complaints and does not bother to answer.
