  • @richardyot Also because the sounds are sequenced many are naturally rhythmical, but in a cool random/glitchy way. And not cheesy.

Yep. Exactly. What I think I'm really liking is the random rhymics combined with a wide variety of short snippets of sound.

It's kind of irrelevant what the sounds actually are because they are often so short and very varied.

I can well accept they are cheesy if used in other ways. But this random button is great.

I presume it's new to iWavestation (not in the original). It's a stroke of genius anyway, the way it creates a 16 slot sequence.

A question I have, is how you can control how fast each track moves through the sequence (in Gadget). They move at different speeds. But I see no way to control this.

  • Another quick experiment, all based on a random sequence from iWavestation done in Gadget:

  • Agreed, the random function is great and very inspiring :)
I'm not sure you can change the speed of the sequnces in Gadget, so far looks as though that has to be done in the main app....

Btw iAA mid sync appears not to work but midi link sync works for the main app

Cool piece of kit. The wavesequencer is really deep and really unique. Tremendous control over sequences. Can't think of anything else like it really. This is one that rewards getting your hands dirty IMO.

Here's a little sound snippet. One instance of iwavestation sequenced in Gadget. No effects were added. I created the patch in the standalone version and it imported perfectly into Gadget. Also one London track

Another good one. I'm liking that none of the user compositions really sound much alike, and seem to have their own character. Do the randomized results seem to be infinitely different from each other? Or, does it kind of loop back after a couple dozen presses of the random button to start sounding similar?

    Me too.

That sounds great - the sequence reminds me of some of Kate Bush's 90's backing.

    Getting a bit tempted now.

this sounds unique enough in comparison to my other iOS stuff and is why I am going to buy it today with the itunes card I'm getting. (Happy I found a decent one $35 for $25. )

  • I'm in ! These random sequenced demo tracks you guys posted have convinced me. I was going to wait until the Xmas iTunes cards start rolling in, but I couldn't wait...it's gonna be a wave sequencing weekend for me! And (unbelievably) it works like a dream on my ageing iPhone 4s.

No random is just the gift that keeps on giving :)

You said your most recent composition was done in Gadget. I don't really want go down the Gadget trail. Could this have also been done exactly the same had you used stand-alone iWavestation by itself outside of Gadget?

Yes, the intro sequence can be "played" by holding down middle C on the Wavestation :)

The rest you could play live, if you had the drums sequenced or looped.

    Very cool. No dairy here.

  • @ecamburn damn that's really nice!

A very 80's Genesis vibe going on in that one.

Sounds like Punky Brewster jamming with Alf.

  • So many multi-quotes on the forum now. It no longer zooms us to the bottom when we hit quote so we seem to hit the button multiple times.

  • Annoying thing about importing sysex files is that it wipes over your user cards unless I'm missing a trick. Why can't you just create a new card when it imports, it's nearly 2017 Korg not 1987 ;)

Not exactly a bad thing when you put it that way.

I think i will save out wavs of some of these more glitchy youtubes you folks made and feed them through Fx into Blocs just to see. I am just so on the fence... I want to like this thing.

You're kind of funny. Of everyone here, you seem to be the least impressed with iWavestation, and yet the most intrigued and likely to buy. $5 says you own this inside 2 weeks. Any takers? lol ;)

I bet you are right! If it wasnt a Gadget I wouldnt feel torn in the slightest.

Can't have that unpressed Buy button in Gadget.....it is constantly playing on my mind....got to wait til xmas...all money until then is on the kids pressies.....hoping for an iTunes card in my stocking...

  • Still not getting it. All sounds a bit Colin Phillips to my ears and seems to lack any kind of groove. Think I will pass and go grumbling back to my beau. Wonder if I can collect £200?

I'm trying to distract myself by trying to learn other apps I've recently purchased. Will likely get this one, but I'm going to wait and see if the obsession fades a little first. I've barely even played with my fresh BF purchase of Model 15 yet, and have barely scratched the surface of TC-Data and Audulus.

Is there a steep learning curve on this one if you're not already familiar with Korg synths?
