Would it make sense to have the option of classifying different instruments/loops as siblings? Say if I wanted to have a call and response melody between different leads. If they could be classified as siblings, then I could simply tap whichever one I want to play at any given moment and the others would cease playing.
Doesn't this kind of exist already? A bunch of loops from the same instruments can all be set to 'solo' and then the others turn off when you play a new one. Or something. (I think they all have to be from the same instrument/colour though).
I never use this myself - since I like to be able to blend everything with everything if I want to - and I can manually turn off if I want.
That's exactly right. I kind of stumbled into it. If you make a "cube," say, of drums, selecting the kick will turn off the hi-hat, unless you turn them on in the same gesture. Pretty nifty.
@Matt_Fletcher_2000 they do all have to be the same instrument, that's what I'm talking about. Making separate instruments into siblings so that you can do that same thing but with separate/different presets/not the same sound instruments.
It'd be nice to have a transpose option for loops. Using a warp button doesn't really work as you have to have one for each instrument, and manually moving notes in the sequencer is time consuming. I'd like to be able to duplicate a selection of loops (e.g. bass and lead), go in and hit a transpose button for each. I can then group them and play each song part live.
whoop!
Wow! Coming along really nice! Just got another beta release ! Timing on keys so much better also without quantise really smoother!
Yeah so what's the full scoop on the improved keyboard? Honestly didn't expect that would changed much but I'm all for it
There used to be a delay imputing notes like some sort of latency but it was so much smoother real joy!!!
Been thinking (drooling) about this a lot today. So what sort of daw syncing would be possible? Would it only be possible with Ableton? could it actually have ye olde midi clock sync?
That was the input quantization that could easily be turned off. Hopefully the option is still there pre or post recording I know some folks really liked it.
It's there able to turn off but after off I get a smoother input feel.
To be honest we're not really sure as it's quite far down the road map. For me personally I'd love to be able to drive some VSTs with it. The draw back is that it would take a while to set it up etc, and might detract from the great flow that KRFT has right now.
Also do you have any idea on latency sending midi to mac/PC?
>
Perviously with live quantize enabled (say 16th) you would have to hit the note before the boundary and if you were a tiny bit late it would push it to the next 16th. Now if you're late, within a 1/64 note, it will just play the note instantly. This seems to make it much better at playing what you're intending to play!
This is really nice :-)
And I'm loving the new presets!!
Brilliant news!
I think the idea is that if you miss the quantise point with late playing the sound will fire instantly rather than waiting for the next quantise point. I haven't tried it yet but that's how I interpreted the written word.
If I've ever gotten into mobuplat KRFT would have been the result of my efforts. At least in my imaginary world.
I think the biggest strength of this app is that it is wildly customisable. I only miss some kind of bit crushing effect built in and maybe x/y pad control module.
I have had good results with TC-Data, Thumbjam and Modstep sending midi to pc. Really though I am super happy with KRFT being all iOS, particularly when the sampler/slicer comes on board.
Maybe I'm missing this because it seems basic but I'd like to be able to record overdub when entering notes live.
This app is awesome!
When you're recording?
Maybe he means when recording (scoring) notes in edit mode...?
EDIT: Oh wait, i have no idea what he means heh
Yeah. Like after recording in edit mode I'd like to be able to keep recording (overdub) the loop instead of the loop getting longer. Does that make sense?
Oh yah a 'force loop' button would be handy.
Exactly
All you do is hit the recording button again to overdub. So you just basically double tap it and you're overdubbing. The recording button itself is a "force loop" button. You play your pattern and the moment you know you are done, hit the button. Then again to immediately overdub. I think it works great the way it is
The thing is it keeps adding bars, copying the same loop over and over, which i actually find cool but could see why people would want the overdub to only work within the length of the original loop and not make the overall loop longer afterwards.
Yeah I guess I can see that being useful if you want to keep layering stuff up.
Great profile pic btw![B) B)](https://forum.loopypro.com/resources/emoji/sunglasses.png)
I dunno but I just double checked some loops that I know I overdubbed multiple times using the aforementioned method and they are all the original 4 bars in length as expected. If you have a four bar loop and you play 8 bars on top, it will double with your 8 bars on top. So just play 4 bars at a time (for example).
If i clone a loop, then record or overdub new notes, the recorded notes cannot be heard until i stop recording. It also increases the length of the loop. I don't remember encountering this problem before, but it has been a week since ive last played with krft. Has this already been discussed? Or am i the only one? Or am i doing something wrong?
