Add my vote for Dropbox.
Subtract my vote for Dropbox specifically and add document picker support instead.
Meaning, you could just pick whichever cloud service or storage depot you wanted including dropbox and icloud, and not be limited?
If so, scratch mine too and +1 for document picker support
@LivingMemorySoftware I've been trying to get my head around LayR but I'm obviously 'missing' something rudimentary in the apps architecture?!(Simple things individual tuning of A & B and assigning an envelope to control the FM Amount). I do admit I've got the V1.0.1 so I have no clue what is included in the awaiting 1.0.2 release.
Maybe we'll even see some alternate methods of 'merging' the two oscillators, like multiplication and when tuning comes some sync options as well?
I do like the clean layout of the app!
@skiphunt
I haven't tried the Saturn on it yet, my current project is being mixed and is too plugin heavy to handle it right now.
So yes, I've bought it. There is an enormous gap between Layr and the M15. That's just because the M15 is the best sounding soft-synth I've ever heard, including desktops. That said, I don't at all regret the $20...I will get great fun out of experimenting with it and it's more than quality enough to use on real tracks.
Thanks for the honest, hyperbole-free response. I'm fascinate with the layered possibilities. Have you experimented with building your own instrument/performances from scratch yet?
Some of the posts make it sound very intuitive, but @samu 's recent post that he's "trying to get his head around LayR" gives me pause. He's one of the more schooled beta testers on this board and has likely gone deep on several complex apps. If he's a bit baffled... Hmm... maybe it's just that he doesn't have the correct build yet.
Ouch![:) :)](https://forum.loopypro.com/resources/emoji/smile.png)
@skiphunt
Just made my first patch now. It's easy as long as you don't let the 'instrument/layr/performance' terminology get in your way. An instrument is just a patch, and you can layer the patches (for example, one panned left and one panned right). Then you add another instrument (aka make another, different sounding patch). Repeat as desired. Mix as desired.
It took me tens of times hitting the help screen overlay to remember what each knob was, but there's really not much to wrap your head around besides that.
Edit: And my response WAS hyperbole-free! Maybe it didn't come across that way, but I meant it
Yeah, fair call. I paused on that one... should've chosen better words. I just meant that most (I've been guilty of this too) tend to lean toward exaggeration when they're excited about a new app or new app purchase, and his response read as honest, to the point, and direct. I found that refreshing.
When you read a bunch of posts that are a bit over the top, it tends to set your expectations too high. You buy the app with unreasonable expectations and are disappointed.
That being said, nothing in his post deterred my interest any. It just calibrated my expectation to a more reasonable level.
Yes yes! I know! I found your response level and honest without being sugar-coated. It's refreshing. Thanks!
Regarding the patch making... I think you're right. I AM letting the terminology muddy the waters of understanding a bit. I read, and reread the dev's app description before it started making a little sense. After which, I thought his choice of terms was appropriate and logical. I think it's just because so many other apps use standard terms that his non-standard terms were confusing me.
Sounds manageable and I think I could get me head around it in an hour or so.
Can you explain how you end up with what sounds like different melody sequences all playing at once by the same key strokes? That's got me a little confused, though @hellquist 's video helped a lot.
@skiphunt no you're wrong, Layr is the greatest synthesizer to have ever graced this planet I can't fathom why you would possess a quantum of doubt regarding this truth.
(Is stuck with buggy beta iPhone version and has no idea)
LOL![;) ;)](https://forum.loopypro.com/resources/emoji/wink.png)
I was never part of the LayR beta.(BM3 is more than enough for me at the moment)![:) :)](https://forum.loopypro.com/resources/emoji/smile.png)
There are many areas I like about LayR and some areas that still leave me a bit puzzled but It's a nice app anyway
Perhaps after BM3 is out I could bug you for a proper review of this one, kinda curious what you'll think of it when you have time to wrap that brain around it
This is one place where the old adage"if it feels good do it" should truly apply! For me it is easily a James Brown " I feel Good" moment. Busy running lighting tests for Saturday's wedding while I await the newest build but just taking time to see if it came out of the oven or not yet.
If document picker means open from audioshare, I would dig that too...
Thanks! I'm betting this has more to do with the fact you have the accidental beta. From what I read, that accidental version was the absolute first beta release from several months ago. I would assume several months of development and beta testing likely clarified the interface substantially. Curious what you think after the correct build drops.
+1
Maybe but I feel I'll be plenty busy with BM3 even after it's initial release...
I mean 'ideas' don't stop flowing just because an app hits the app-store.
The 'positive' thing about all this is that if any of you bump into issues with BM3 I'll be here to assist the best I can![;) ;)](https://forum.loopypro.com/resources/emoji/wink.png)
It is not here yet. just in case you were going to check, I saved you the trouble![;) ;)](https://forum.loopypro.com/resources/emoji/wink.png)
Could you check again please. Just in case. Thx.![:) :)](https://forum.loopypro.com/resources/emoji/smile.png)
