So far the whole sharing thing looks to be a pretty much a bust. Hopefully the developer can work some more woefully lacking presets into the app within an update soon.

Next step for this is the easy sharing of what it can do (which is considerable).

  • Anybody given the built in arp a full test? Been waiting on a demo of that part.

Really wanna share presets man... hopefully it gets taken care of.

Rumor has it that the next update (soon) will have a boatload of new presets ;)

In the meantime here are a handful of mine if you guys want to check them out ...

Excellent news about the update. One of my main things with all promising (new) apps is how they're updated (or not) once they've hit the water.

Thanks for the .zip. Look forward to trying to figure it out :)

Agreed. I've always admired the Novation folks for their updates/new features roadmap and schedule with Blocs Wave. A certain comfort comes from knowing the developer is invested and listening.

You're welcome! Let me know if you need any help loading those presets from the .zip file into LayR.

No problem! Follow these steps; assuming you have AudioShare (you better!):

    1. Tap on the .zip file at the bottom of my previous post up there ^
    2. A window will open and give you the option to "Open in AudioShare." Tap on that.
    3. AudioShare will open and ask if you want to extract the contents of the zip file. Tap "yes."
    4. You will then have a new folder (BBeasley_LayR_Abstract_preview) in your file directory on the left-hand side of AS.
    5. Tap on that folder, then tap on the first preset to select it.
    6. Look to the bottom right quadrant of AS for the grey square with the white up arrow, directly below the mail icon.
    7. Tap on that and choose "Copy to LayR."
    8. You should be good to go. For the additional presets just return back to AS and use the "Copy to LayR" process again.

iPad musicians music group. Vague, at least a month away from testing. I know nothing else.

  • Ok - I got as far as the "copy to Layr" step in AS but I can't seem to find it once it's been copied over. I hit the "up arrow" icon as you said and pick "copy to Layr", Layr opens up and then I'm still on whatever performance I had loaded previously. What am I doing wrong?

I had to use Audioshare to copy each one to Icloud drive, then click the cloud in Layr. Choose a preset and it will open and load that preset. Make sure to save it upon opening, because to my knowledge copying to Layr doesn't save it anywhere.

Hmm, that is strange. I can't say I know why that is happening, but maybe try this route:

(Turn your volume down if it's up—some ARP presets will autoplay when loaded)

    1. Tap on the down arrow icon on LayR's master channel (where you would normally load a performance preset)
    2. Tap on the cloud icon at the top of the screen
    3. There is a link titled "Locations" in the upper left menu bar of the window that just popped up. Tap on that and choose "AudioShare"
    4. Navigate to the presets folder and tap on one. That should be all that is needed. If you want to keep that preset around make sure to save it to one of your user banks.

    _
Let me know if that works.

Ok -that was unnecessarily complicated but it worked. Thanks for the hand holding!

:D Indeed, preset sharing in the iOS app world is not the most streamlined of processes. Glad you got it working!

Got them going too Mister Brice. Good to see some of the inner workings of your mind :)

  • Good ones, Brice, liking presets from where to sail further out there ...

  • I'm working on a few - when I get them dialed I'll share them as well. Fair is fair, after all ;)

  • I'm not a synth player but an electric guitar player but I appreciate the creativity and gifted talent of all the synth guys!

  • This looks like a great app for my soon to come EWI! Now if there was only the slightest bit of a discount...

It is at a constantly discounted price already IMHO. ;)

    Regarding preset sharing:
I will also be sharing my presets when I have something that is useful for someone who isn't me. LayR has made me learn loads (still learning though).
