Have you bought some of the new Twin2 presets within Auria? Seems like there were new ones recently that some were raving about, but I can't remember which ones they were.
@hellquist -
Thanks for your reply! Well, that sounds good! Amazing, for such a small app.
I know about the build issue, I've read many (not all) comments in this thread.
The only issue I've found in the wrong-build release is that there's no sound using Modstep, (beta).
Fine in Cubasis BM2 Auria Pro, Changeling midi Sequencer cool too, if I open Layr first.
Beautifully thought out and presented synth, brilliantly accessible, especially considering the amount of detail on offer.
The bug was on iPhone only apparently. Had to do with not being able to access the editing page after clicking on certain things. iPad should be fine for now, but better when the correct build goes up. Both will be fixed at that point of course
This app is in dire need of many more presets! Sounds extremely nice on a few of the patches that really show its potential but few is the operative word on this unfortunately. It will not take long to rectify once it is given proper time but I would say this area is still beta really it is that lacking given all the app is capable of. No regrets as far as support for the app however and will look forward to having more time to start programming. Sadly I have a weekend wedding to DJ for so I need to give that my immediate attention. More and deeper presets please.
Going over the walk through video I am see my install is missing a lot of presets that were shown in the walk through. I only have a single arp patch for example.one fix patch and just three keys.
I'm having trouble accessing the arp as shown in the vid, but I'm guessing that's simply user ignorance. What's a little left-field/odd for me is that I am not a sound designer, and usually find apps with the depth to really fiddle not that musical to play with (for me), this is the not at all like that. I suspect it will end up as a classic. It's a very well thought-out, deep, and, yes, musical thing. Of course I wish there were a dozen videos already, but understand the bring-to-market needs of a one man dev. My only regret is that I don't have more time today to just lay about on the hammock and fiddle with it....
One thing that struck me about it was that, though it looks complex, it's one of those synths where everything seems to have one function so you can pretty much just mess around and listen for results
Very encouraged with the musicality. There is a certain category of app that is fast-tracked based purely on its cleverness and coding genius, like Audulus or SunVox. I assumed this was in that camp: infinite possibilities but not really for mortals. Sounds like it's the rare hybrid, along the lines of Animoog. Good luck to the dev.
Yes my arp is not showing grid either but that said , the simple arp held as played along with saving patches of my own varied just slightly from the previous load works wonderfully! When you change a preset the change is instantaneous and the arp remains active so I am able to add layers upon layers on successive presets and trigger them from the load panel. The possibilities are HUGE! I can not wait to have access to the full arp!
I really do have work to be done honest!
Very cool
Just tried recording in Cubasis but sadly it did not sound when used with patterning. Have a nice set up going I want to share but unable to record at the moment for some reason I have yet to figure out.
Seems like a really bumpy launch so far. I'm gonna let this one mature a bit more in the oven before I join in the fun I think. At least a couple more updates and user demos. Still looks promising, but thanks to all you early adopters for shakin' her out for the rest of us fence sitters.![;) ;)](https://forum.loopypro.com/resources/emoji/wink.png)
Any of the pre-launch beta testers have anything other than preset snippets? ie. a full composition of something? Even the dev only has one new track on his soundcloud feed in the last 2 years. Guess he's been busy with this app, but it seems like there'd be more full composition demo stuff out there. I looked at the site forum, but just short preset snippets. Haven't heard anything where the user created the preset stack, and composed a full track yet.
Anything? I know @JohnnyGoodyear posted something last night, but wasn't sure if that was custom of a preset.
This. Those were my first impressions also when I got it in my hands. Very musical indeed. Every time I open it I get distracted by actually making music, which normally is good, but my intention often is to explore something and learn so I perhaps can offer advice or make a video about.
(Disclaimer: I am, as you know, using a later version than you, so I have more presets/performances that you'll have too as soon as the update hits) Also, unlike other apps where I can create presets that I am content with, LayR due to the way it functions, means that I can re-use presets in completely different ways than I am used to. That could be due to my lacking experience in synthesis that make me excited about this, but as soon as I understood I can create "one string pluck" and "one blow" (on for example a flute/trumpet/saxophone etc) and I then can attach another "note" sound after that, be it a "string" or "sine-to-square"), the need for massive amounts of presets shrinks, as it is the combinations of them that will count in the end. But as I say, that might just be me, and why I have "clicked" so well with it. It has basically opened up my eyes to many things.
This, IMHO, is definitely one of the "things" with this app: it makes it simple to do advanced stuff, with just a little bit of imagination, and I don't have to learn "everything" in theory to get good results in reality, here and now. Also, I'm having fun doing it.
Just creating an instrument by loading various presets with different starting times and varying sustain is dead easy, a few quick taps: done.![:) :)](https://forum.loopypro.com/resources/emoji/smile.png)
I think, when the update hits, and especially when there will be more presets added, that this will be an app we'll consider "a classic", and in many areas a benchmark goal. It is that good. IMHO of course.![:) :)](https://forum.loopypro.com/resources/emoji/smile.png)
A massive set of sounds are easily programmed on this one ! I can not wait to get my hands on the correct build given how nice the old version is given all of its little short comings. Adding layers and performances will fill anyone's ears just as full as they can be filled and in the most appealing ways somehow. Not all cluttered just evolving beautiful soundscapes that can be easily added to and switched between.
Bought it anyway, will wait for update to play. The perils (?) of having 20$ credit just sitting there
Could one perhaps simply send midi from different patterns in infinite looper to different layers in Layr? Because that would be awesome. I'd just build up massive textures and then split them up with midi loops
Hello everyone!
I'm the developer who made the monumental cockup with the App Store version!
I just want to say how much I appreciate your friendly comments here so far and a big thanks for being so understanding!
I'm still waiting for the update v1.0.2 to be approved, hopefully it will be even faster than the original was.
I've taken note of a lot of ideas and suggestions being made here and LayR will be updated pretty regularly at first as I build in more and more presets and there's a few features to add too. Hopefully we can get over this stupid launch hiccup.
And also a GREAT BIG thanks to hellquist for being so helpful and diplomatic!
As you know by now we have our own forum which I would like to invite you all to come over and contribute to if you become LayR users. I will be setting up some kind of Preset Repository for sharing presets very soon too.
I will keep an eye on this forum just to see what's going down, but I won't be here all that often, especially in the next couple of days as my workload is massive at the moment!
Thanks again
Andy
Living Memory Software.
( BTW: Re: Joomla, I had no option, it's the only choice my host gives me! It was a learning experience!! )
Yes. Each instrument within LayR can have its own midi channel. They can even have separate audio outs (well, up to 8 instruments at least).
@LivingMemorySoftware Hey there. Wanted to let you know that your site nor forum will load in Safari on the Mac Sierra OS X. Only get a white screen. Worked ok a few days ago but no more. Will load in chrome, but very slow.
Doesn't load in iOS safari either. Must be some setting that got flubbed.
Again, it was working fine on all devices until a few days ago. Other sites work fine. Only yours isn't loading.
Congrats on the launch. Looks groovy, but will wait for more demos, videos, and presets. Also, a bit more maturity with the updates.
Has anyone made a video that walks you through the process customizing a preset? Any of your beta testers produced any videos yet? You mentioned in your email that one of the beta testers would be making one I believe? Link please?![:) :)](https://forum.loopypro.com/resources/emoji/smile.png)
And, do you have any sample, full compositions tracks made solely with LayR yet? All I've heard so far are one-button launches of builtin presets. Would be nice to hear something finished. I know you just launched, but maybe you have something from the beta testers to link to?
Was the most recent track in your personal SoundCloud feed made only with LayR?
Oh dear, sorry to hear that, I'm using Sierra and Safari also and it all looks fine from here, anyone else having the same issue?
Perhaps try clearing your caches/history and resetting your dns cache might help, who knows! Could be that the server was down when you tried.
According to @LivingMemorySoftware (Hearty Welcome & Thanks!) on his forum he says multi-port (multiple named core-midi inputs) is on the to-come-list![;) ;)](https://forum.loopypro.com/resources/emoji/wink.png)
I thought it was my provider, but it works with chrome. Only it's VERY slow to load. I'm on an iPad Air 2 presently running latest iOS and it doesn't load on this either.
I'm off to a coffee shop soon and will see if it loads there on a different internet connection in case your domain has somehow been blocked by my provider. Though, since it loads in chrome I doubt it. Bet it's a joomla problem.
Working fine on my Air2, bit slow, but probably due to the large home page image.
@LivingMemorySoftware Welcome to the basement and congrats on an excellent piece of software.
I get a white screen on Safari on the desktop and Air 2. Doesn't even appear to be loading anything at all, so it can't be a large homepage image, at least for me. I'm also on a fairly fast connection.
Yes. I know. That refers to virtual midi ports 17 and above. The first 16 works just fine for now, at least in my version. I am right now outputting midi on separate channels to separate instruments.![;) ;)](https://forum.loopypro.com/resources/emoji/wink.png)
Fine on my PC, iPad and phone - probably you're either being blocked by the server (send your IP to be taken off the blacklist) security software, or your provider is blocking their site.
But it loads in Chrome, so that can't be it.
Something in the browser blocking it probably. Try clearing the cache as the blokee said, you could be getting a cached offline version.
