Ah right, think I’ll give it a miss then until they’ve sorted things out.
I may have to eat mywords now. Just played some tracks in my car that I’d been working on and discovered they sound terrible.
Reverted to Gadget, pumped up DeeMax...much better! Hmmm...
That's good to hear- I have the other two- but am swithering over DeeMax...... It sounds a bit like a magic wand...... which is what I am needing- just in time for Christmas too!
The original Gadget limiter creates a high pitched ring when used on low freq sounds (808 kicks, etc).
Haven’t bought DeeMax, but hope it doesn’t do this.
Shame Deemax doesn’t show as a plug-in in Ableton
I'm not experiencing any issues with the limiter, although I'm only using it at about 30%. I think other factors like EQing and filtering your low frequencies should be fine. I have no doubts DeeMax is a superior plugin however.
The high pitched (ring mod like) sound when limiting low basslines etc is well known.
Not new to 3.5. It’s been like that for years.
Loving the new gadgets. Gadgets is just about 85% complete for me. A file system needs to happen. I think we have enough gadgets but truly an AU gadget is needed (would love to bring beathawk into gadget). You can keep it closed for all I care and add an au and I can see a master program on iPad. An option for the time line for linaer editing would be awesome but I can survive with out it, it’s just easier for me to see how the music flows and for audio visibility and for doing one takes. My main want besides au is for korg to go back and work on the automation editing that really holds me back and show a little more love with the older gadgets.
That's why I feel that with proper Files.app integration in Gadget we'd already have that.
(Ie. an easy way to manage 'Gadget Files' and to import & export files from/to other apps & sources).
There are already multiple apps that integrate with Files.app that allow direct access to NAS and other sources from the standard Files Pop-Up/DocumentPicker. I find Documents from Readle a perfect companion to Files.app
Update:
I’ve been really enjoying making some pads in Lisbon. It really does sound superb to my ear.
It’s an extremely simple synth to program (much less complicated than, say, MonoPoly) and it’s clearly set up for a particular type of lush, rich sound.
I’m guessing it’s a producing some kind of unison of multiple voices and the diffuse is how you defune them all slightly.
I wish the LFO could be assigned to more than just amp and filter - but hey ho.
If you use it for what it’s good at some of the patches you can create sound very nice indeed.
What else is missing is a Kaoss Pad- and they know that we know that they know that we know this.
One work-around here would be to host Odessa - LFO in AUM and automate Lisbon with that.
(I don't think we'll see AUv3 Midi 'hosting' in Gadget in the near future).
I wish all the gadgets had this gadgets editing and manipulation features.
A really good drum synth would be awesome to
I deeply regret purchasing Deemax. I can’t believe Korg is charging $14 (in Canuckistan) for a volume adjuster. There’s no doubt this should’ve been a freebie. The other two gadgets are cool and much better value.
Right now Gadget is $150.00 (us) on Mac and it includes everything. That makes it a far better deal than what Korg charges for ios gadgets.
As awesome as Gadget is, Korg is a business and they want your money. I feel justified in asking for a full refund of Deemax though.... no way is it worth the price.
So easy to load Gadget up into AB3, AUM, or any IAA host, and add from so many choices of limiters and compressors. I might use it for convenience if it was free, but pay for it? Not a chance.
Maybe if it was $4.99 and could be used on multiple individual tracks, but only on the master, not even worth that.
Worth every penny to me as it makes my tracks very loud in my headphones. This alone gives me a lot of pleasure when creating laid on sofa in a room full of kids and family as it completely blocks them out so I can enjoy the vibes
Not so sure about the blood coming from my ears but should be ok...
I suspect Korg is trying to find ways to continue selling IAPs but they've given us so many synths already, now they're exploring effects. I thought/hoped we'd see something like Rosario, a Gadget that could get audio bussed through it.
They’ve probably got a new sampler on the cards next, one that does timestretching. Then another that allows longer samples.
Thanks Samu. Yes I tried something similar once (I think it might have been with an LFO in TB midi stuff) into Gadget.
One thing is that it wouldn’t be a per voice LFO, or key triggered. But I might try.
I have a question on Lisbon actually...
What’s the point of the ‘Env2’ dial on the amp? It seems like Env2 dictates the envelope of the amp, but if you turn that dial down to zero no sound is heard. So basically what’s the alternative to have Env2 having full influence over the amp? I don’t get the purpose of that dial.
I’m very sorry. I got that wrong. Under the pitch bend I now see you can assign LFO1 to pitch.
That’s great - and makes things a lot more interesting.
It’s just gain staging I think. Sometimes you might want the level down a bit before you hit the effects chain - you can get different timbres when things aren’t set to full. It also gives you the option to take out the dry signal with the delay feedback cranked.
I’m enjoying this one too
Korg is amazing and Gadget is touching on a utopia that we're very lucky to have offered on any / all platforms. Vancouver is a simple thing of beauty and DeeMax is an unexpected surprise of astounding pleasure. That is all. x.
Korg really needs to optimize their code...
My Pro 9.7 CPU melts while playing some Lisbon presets.
Easily using 20+% battery per hour.
Been reporting this atrocious cpu/battery problem since April and all they reply is:
“We'll continue investigating this issue.”
Obviously selling new gadgets is higher on their priority list.
If I have too much instances of Lisbon, my ipad air crackles when I'm going to edit a sound - why? because Lisbon's background is animated - looks nice but....
Sometimes a complete re-install of iOS on a devices cures there issues...(I don't say it does it in this case though).
(As there is no other way to delete all the temp-files, caches etc. that accumulate over time on the device).
I mean for some it's perfectly ok to sit ~4 hours with Gadget on one charge and then take a break and charge the device...
The korg plug key lets you use your IOS device while charging it and provides midi in and headphone out and line out.
Dude you’re not lyin. I opened up Gadget the other day for the first time in ages. Was on the screen for 8 minutes then I manually shut it down. It used 10% of my month-old battery. Deleted it for good.
I'm seeing the same cpu/battery problem on my iPhone SE. Which was installed from scratch, so I doubt re-installing iOS solves it.
Gadget is okay when in the main screen, it’s when a specific gadget is opened and played on where the issue occurs.
It heats up to a point where I wouldn’t wanna charge it at the same time. High temperatures affect Li-ion batteries lifespan.
After 4 hours of Gadget most of us have no other choice then to charge the device
Ok, this could be similar to what I experienced during early BM3 betas where the entire screen got updated at 60FPS regardless of the number of objets needed to be updated, this drained the battery quite fast..
Thankfully this is fixed now and only the stuff that really needs to be updated is re-drawn.
So this could be a 'side-effect' of Korg wanting to keep the UI as 'fluid as possible' and that drains the battery unless the screen-darwing has some built-in logic to only update what needs to be updated?!
I've not experienced any ab-normal battery drainage when using Gadget on my Air 2 (iOS11.1.2 at the moment).
