Gadget is okay when in the main screen, it’s when a specific gadget is opened and played on where the issue occurs.
It heats up to a point where I wouldn’t wanna charge it at the same time. High temperatures affect Li-ion batteries lifespan.

Ok, this could be similar to what I experienced during early BM3 betas where the entire screen got updated at 60FPS regardless of the number of objets needed to be updated, this drained the battery quite fast..

Thankfully this is fixed now and only the stuff that really needs to be updated is re-drawn.

So this could be a 'side-effect' of Korg wanting to keep the UI as 'fluid as possible' and that drains the battery unless the screen-darwing has some built-in logic to only update what needs to be updated?!

I've not experienced any ab-normal battery drainage when using Gadget on my Air 2 (iOS11.1.2 at the moment).

I have to say the latest update has massively improved battery life on my 8+....around 10% an hour now

I just purchased Vancouver and Lisbon and I love the atmospheric pads and stabs on Lisbon and Vancouver is a fun sampler. Someone mentioned that there aren't any adsr envelops but there is adjustable attack, sustain and release on each sample.

My iPad gets ridiculously hot now when I run Gadget. Puts me off using it to be honest, especially after seeing Samu’s ‘expanding battery’ photo

I have issues with the battery on my iPhone 5 but I've never posted any photos of it.
My iPad Air 2 is still working like it's supposed to work :)

Ah right, sorry Samu, must be getting you mixed up with someone else. I’m old now...memory’s going...

Yes, I thought about something like that.
Have you opened a specific Gadget and played onscreen keyboard (not NanoKey) for a while, to see what happens?

Same... I used to compose in Gadget many hours a week.
Right now, I open it and check some of the new gadgets. After a while I feel the extreme heat around the cpu, come back to the main screen and be shocked at the % battery disappearing.

That's the way I always use the Gadgets(in full screen mode) due to my eye-sight.
I do miss the transport controls in full-screen mode though.

I've not experienced excessive battery drainage on my Air 2 :(

There should be Kaoss pads in Gadget. Why are there not? > @robosardine said:

Loving the new gadgets. Gadgets is just about 85% complete for me. A file system needs to happen. I think we have enough gadgets but truly an AU gadget is needed (would love to bring beathawk into gadget). You can keep it closed for all I care and add an au and I can see a master program on iPad. An option for the time line for linaer editing would be awesome but I can survive with out it, it’s just easier for me to see how the music flows and for audio visibility and for doing one takes. My main want besides au is for korg to go back and work on the automation editing that really holds me back and show a little more love with the older gadgets.

What else is missing is a Kaoss Pad- and they know that we know that they know that we know this.

I have a lot of fun using Beatonal to control Gadget synths. Not quite a built in Kaoss pad, but a lot more fun than the built in keyboards.

You can use the X/Y Brambos AU to control Gadget synths using its pads - you can even change the pitch (81) though only of a pattern already on the sequencer.

  • Some little things I miss in gadget include being able to loop the whole song song and not just a part and to be able to set a certain sound as your go to sound when opening a gadget would be nice to.

  • I'm a sucker for any sampler/slicer and love them all. But I was bored with Vancouver from the beginning. Nice that I got a refund though.

The second one can be done by making a template session and then saving as new when u get going

Why didn’t you like it? I don’t use Gadget much, but interested in this one.

I really like Vancouver, granted it doesn't timestretch, but for classic style sampling, it works really well, the built in fx can give a lot of character and most importantly the available controls are just about all I could need for some decent sampling, no extra fluff makes it easy to work with. I don't typically use gadget much at all because I'm not a fan of the synths, but Vancouver means I don't have to now.

    Behind you 100%.

And @stormywaterz — there was a time when you could loop the entire song in Gadget? I would love to have that ability.

The new Brambos app works well with Gadget, so I’ve been lured back in. A pitched sampler will compliment my AUM jams nicely.

I just bought Korg Gadget for Mac in the sale for only £116. I really prefer the layout of Gadget on Mac compared to the iPad and iPhone. I think Korg should really make the Mac layout the same on the 12.9 iPad Pro because there is enough screen space on the iPad Pro 12.9.
