Yeah cool site. There is also the think break in this list, known and used in many liquid DnB tracks lately. It’s cut in 4 parts when I remember rightly

    You remember correctly :)
It's another super classic break hehe...

I think melodies will be limited....you will need a Rex file with one of each note in them and mapped to the correct keyboard notes and I don’t think it has Loop points for sustained notes.
Other than that you would have to mess with the pitch of each step to get it right.

On the other hand. It’s fun to take a melodic loop and play random parts of it.
I find this an inspiring change to composing with a normal chromatic keyboard on which I often end up with a similar style.

This is true, but you can do that already with Abu Dhabi which lets you use any loops you create without the need for Rex files.

True, i enjoy experimenting with Abhu Dhabi and will continue using it. Although i think the attack and decay are rudimentary, especially when you want to get rid of clicks.
Stockholm’s has snappy envelopes (filter & amp), good LFO which (together with the the ALT feature) adds a loose/random feel to the groove.
Lately I’ve used Abhu Dhabi mainly to load old breakbeats
Now I can import the Rex files which works faster. Not being limited to 10 secs is nice too.

I might check Loopmasters to find some ‘world’ loops. I like the ones included in Stockholm.

  • Shoutouts to @djpuzzle for the Rex pack. Keep 'em coming (free or paid)

Thank you so much Samu. This is kind of the best site in the world for this type of stuff. Loads of free stuff and other good stuff at reasonable prices.

No problemo, there's a load of them 'classic' loops for 'educational purposes' on the site too...

  • I’ve been on Reason since day 1. So it’s nice to see this added. I haven’t snatched it up yet. But I probably will. The thing that really sucks is the battery drain issue. @R_2 I recently got a new iPhone 8+. So I finally had another device to compare with. The battery drain issue that I’ve been unsure of seems as clear as day, given that this is a new device. I really can’t have too much fun with Gadget without being connected to a charger. But I might just buy Stockholm while it’s on sale along with a rechargeable battery, as I feel like it’s gonna take Korg a while to iron out this issue.

    Wrong thread (deleted)

  • Does this latest version 3.6 no longer work on older devices?
I believe AppStore used to say it was compatible with iPhone, iPad & iPod touch (Gadget LE and Module still do).
It now has a list of supported devices, and I think 4th generation iPad and earlier are not supported.
Someone said with this update Gadget no longer runs on his iPad gen 3.

I'm asking because my iPad 2 still runs Gadget 3.5.4 (for testing and simple sound design etc, not multiple tracks obviously). Afraid to update...

  • Badammmm... Open Reason, search for your Rex files and hit space. They will be previewed for you like every other pdf or jog or wav or whatever under Mac OS. This is actually pretty convenient

  • Don't know if I've bumped into a 'bug' in Stockholm Gadget or if it's caused by faulty REX-Files?

Some REX files simply won't play/trigger in loop mode using the pads (Perf->Pads select Loop instead of Slice).
They do play fine when using the 'Copy Loop to Track' or triggering individual slices or tapping on the 'waveform'.

Here's the 'catch'. The REX files that fail to play in loop mode have some strange issues with the first slice since when using the 'Copy Loop to Track' function they start from Slice 2 instead of Slice 1?!(Slice 1 is still present when using the Perf->Pads/Keys to trigger slices).

Honestly these kind of 'issues' should have been worked out during beta but I'm unfortunately not part of the beta-squad even though I manage to find issues with just about every app I touch...

I suspect Korg has quite strict NDA on their software and I simply refuse to be 'silenced' or 'gagged' by NDAs.

Over all I do like the Stockholm Gadget. It's a nice addition to Gadget.
(My Gadget installation is 'Complete' apart from a few Module IAPs).

Even though it's just been a few days since release I'm looking forward to the next Gadget update :D

  • @Samu Can you zip and attach a faulty Rex file here?
    I’d like to reproduce.

It's a loop from the site linked a few posts up but here goes...
    https://rhythm-lab.com/sstorage/53/2015/03/Lyn%20Collins%20-%20Think%20(part3).rx2

It plays fine in the 'waveform view' but not in the perf view when loop is selected.
And when you do the 'Copy Loop to Track' it starts from Slice 2.

Slice 1 is visible when you use the pads in 'Slice' mode...

The loop is for 'education purposes only' ;)

    Good luck!

  • @Samu Yep, same here. But slice 1 seems extremely short. Perhaps something went wrong while converting to Rex? I don’t have other Rex players, so can’t check if this is isolated to Stockholm.

I’ve imported a few loops from that same site without this issue.

  • Totally offtopic, but I love your avatar

I've got a bunch from there as well and ~15 loops have had this issue so far.
A few REX-Files from other sites have had this issue as well...

As long as they paste properly into a pattern no matter what the starting slice is I'm ok with it.
I mean it's 'free' after all, if it was paid REX-Files I would be quite annoyed :)

I’ve had the same experience exactly. With quite a few (more than half) .rx2 files from a paid for pack from loopmasters.

It’s the same thing. Something odd with the first slice (I think the first slice is silent).

I think it’s something to do with reading certain Rex files. A bug.
