Awww, too late!! grrrrr
Sick. Sick. Sick. Sick. Sick. If you own this app I suggest you get comfortable and dig deep because Electrify NXT is awesome.
Closest thing to ableton live thingy for me but it also reminds me of an app called tuareg which I liked a lot. Definitely want an audiobus input with some trim-crop-normalize function like in electrify 1.
Anybody noticed that the metronome is on the upbeats (&) instead of the downbeats?
Midi seems broken, anyone actually got any of the midi functions working ?
What's this Tuareg app? Never heard of it!
2hrs wasted.....still no midi sync just stuttering and crashes
@buska. It's not an ios app but an older pc app. Sampler, loop slicer, synth, groovebox. You could resample everything on the fly. Look for tuareg 2.5 by brambos.

Just paid £2 for midibus to get the sync working and it seems you can only start both cubasis and nxt within midibus ? Is this what you experienced @dj8 ?
Yeah, I'm on iPad mini retina and it has crashed several times.
Have to say, I'm kinda underwhelmed so far. No onscreen keyboard, have to use the note bar on the piano rol???
Took me ages to just work out how to load a sample...
Have to see but there is quite a learning curve.
Sick of this garbage IOS midi implementation.....cool app though....just an island without proper midi and I have too many already thanks.....hopefully a fix will follow......reminds me of the battlefield game launches
Oh well, back to reality.
From iPad Musician FB... (Ingolf is the dev)
Ingolf Koch The problem with midi is: both apps you would like to connect must implement it right. I was having a hard time with midi sync not knowing which app you can use as reference to test against. I have already extended and improved midi implementation in Electrify NXT as part of the first update.

Giridhar Dhite Gegenana So I can trust that at least elecrtify nxt is doing things right on its end? Supporting midi clock and sync.

Ingolf Koch I have exchanged my own implementation with the one from the midibus library which seems to be pretty solid. So in the next update everything should work fine.

I have implemented crashlytics into #Electrify NXT, so your crashes are reported right into my inbox. For the next update bugfixes first.

Thanks man! i love trying out vintage software, just downloaded it
I grabbed a promo code from twitter last night (thanks again Ingolf!). And I can only agree that this is one powerful and amazing groove box (and fun to use which helps). I've only scratched the surface. But first, from reading the app info it seemed a bit like a "here are some loops, have fun" so I didn't really know what to expect. But this is a fully fledged production application, filled with one shot drum sounds to make your own beats from scratch. An extensive FM synthesizer to make your own pads, leads, basslines with. And a sampler/looper kinda thing (haven't gotten that far yet). I'm still stuck on having fun with the randomizers, both for the synth and for the loops/sequences. Anyway, absolutely amazing app for sure. Massive!
Haven't had any issues except one crash (iPad Air and iOS 7, go figure..). Also, I did save a backup of the demo session before starting to mess around with it. But both ended up being the same when I tried to go back and load up the demo from scratch. Could be user error on that one tho. Messed around a bit with adding a LFO controlling the filter on the last FM synth in the demo. Closed the app, reloaded it, and when I pressed play I got a really really nasty loud POP (ruin your ears pop), like the compressor/limiter on the master couldn't keep up or something. Hopefully a one time occurrence and nothing to worry about.
Again, definitely a 5/5 from me. And I'll leave a review as soon as the AppStore lets me (when using certain promo codes, I think there are two kinds, you can't review the app for a given period of time, something Apple implemented a year ago or so).

Thanks
@gjcyrus, I misspoke above… It's really a time warp feature that's in the Looper clips, not a pitch shift. As far as I can see, there's no way to pitch shift individual loops and keep them in tempo.
@DaveMagoo, yes, that's the only way I could get NXT to sync w/ Cubasis. NXT did work as a master to Robotic Drums directly w/out using MidiBus. (You've probably seen the posts that the developer is aware of the problem and working on an update for this. Good news!)

Everyones gone quote mad, its now taking twice the time to read a thread :-)

See
@thesoundtestroom, LOL!! Make it stop w/ one of your great videos on Electrify NXT! :-)
Has anyone found a manual on the developers site?
No, but I need one. I don't understand the looper/slicer at all. What do the warp markers do?
It's all in app help I believe. A manual wouold be awesome though.
Finally had a couple crashes last night, seems to be effects related.
Yup - it's the looper/slicer I'd like some clarity on.
so - users/owners: is this as close to Ableton as it seems to be?
I found the in app help to be very, well... helpful. I kept pulling it up as I navigated to new screens in the app and pretty soon I was up to speed w/ pretty much all of the apps functions, I feel. Having said that, this app definitely needs a manual...
I won't try to make an videos (I'll leave that up to our resident video experts :-) . But, for the looper, when you double-click into the looper (the screen w/ the large wave graphic (Loop Sample view):
-You should make sure that the loop is triggered by having a trigger drawn on the top Loop Sequencer. Tap and drag in the wave graphic to create a tempo Warp Marker. (Basically, alters the way that the wave loop plays, similar to Logic's Flex markers.)
-Add as many as you Warp Markers as you want. The loop gets more glitchy soundy as you add more Warp Markers.
-Tap once on the Wave graphic to move the Loop Start point (by default starts on the left side).
I'm not sure how often I'll use this feature, but it might be good for some things I do. I could see it being useful for some live mixing/performances...
Might save someone a few mins:
Looks like the Scenes feature is only working for FX (not saving EQ, MODs, MAIN). Going to report on NXT site…
@Halftone - Yes it is closest to Ableton but do NOT throw Ableton away just yet. 24 bit samples do not work (44.1 or 48) nor is there any time independent pitch shifting. If you have Ableton, this is just a toy for my needs.
Dev said on first page of this thread that 24 bit would be okay, would be $15 and DIRAC timestretch would be there but on all three, I was let down. Another typical ios let down for me.
(to be fair to dev, perhaps DIRAC technology is there but I was expecting time independent pitch shift similar to Ableton which is what this app is going after and that other DIRAC apps like Samplewiz have capability to do. This is directly from DIRAC page
" DIRAC redefines the limits of what todays’ technology can do for your application if you want to change the speed and pitch of music independently without sacrificing quality. Used by leading hi-end audio processing applications and custom built solutions in studios around the world, DIRAC is our critically acclaimed time stretching and pitch shifting technology that can be applied both musically monophonic and polyphonic signals with equal ease and success. Its straightforward API makes it an ideal tool for any software project that requires time stretching and pitch shifting. "
http://dirac.dspdimension.com/Dirac3_Technology_Home_Page/Dirac3_Technology.html"
Based on this, expecting time independent pitch shift was not out of the question.
I have to say this is a great app and once midi is fixed and IAA is introduced it will be a game changer for sure....until you get the low memory warning anyhow
