Theorising on my part but certain gadgets will never go to Switch, (e.g. Bilbao, Vancouver, some of the Modules) so they gave the Switch users some goodies to sweeten the pot. Seems odd that they didn't release it on IOS but maybe it's a licensing issue with Sega/Nintendo/Bandai etc.
It makes complete sense that the two new Gadgets went to Switch. We already have Kamata and Kingston. I don’t see the point anyway if having more of the same.
Switch has Kamata and Kingston too. Plus Switch user might want it to open and finish their work in iOS.
Korg page still has 2 gadgets coming ‘soon’. Not that I care much about these 2 specific Gamegets
Kamata and Kingston also make sense for Switch, and it’s true, maybe some people start tracks on Switch and would like to finish them over iOS/MAC/PC. Could be they’re still working on the Versions. Time will tell. Doesn’t affect me either.
Earlier in the thread you did say they weren’t coming to the other versions of Gadget as if it were fact...
What is the consensus about whether the current Gadget version is safe to update to if one is still using 4.2.0? It sounds like some of the interim releases have local vs. cloud issues.
I can only speak for local file handling which has definitely improved. Cannot use clouds everywhere so I just don't use them.
I don’t think anybody really cares what I have to say lol
The bugs i experienced were fixed. Moving samples local <> iCloud works normally (also in batches).
Tx. And all good moving projects back and forth between local and cloud?
I never had problems with that. But i don’t think they did anything to that, only the file browsers for the sampler gadgets and Stockholm.
Tx
Ugh! Just updated from 4.2.0 to the latest and there is something strange happening. I was played a project and went to another and when I tried to re-open that first project, it wasn’t displayed in the Open menu. It also was not visible in the Files app. I force-quit Gadget and reopened Gadget and it was there.
I then tapped the cloud icon next to the name in the File Open menu and the file name appeared twice. Only one of them could be opened. The other gave an error that the project could not be found.
Anyone having an issue missing all the Second banks that Korg added a while back in many of the synth gadgets? I tried Restore all to no avail.
Also, after updating to Module Pro, missing all expansions I purchased. Guess we have to download/restore again 1 by 1?
@espiegel123 Perhaps a little iCloud upload/sync glitch? Had this once or twice in the past (before the ver 2 update).
@caspergomez Weird that you’re missing the second banks.. just checked and mine are all there (iPad & iPhone).
Module Pro has my purchased expansions, but in Module they are listed differently - grouped together per catagory. In Gadget/Glasgow they are listed the old way (expansions at bottom of list).
Mine are on the iPad, but I also haven’t updated Module on the iPad so I’m assuming the update caused the missing expansions. But that doesn’t explain why the Factory Bank B’s are missing from all the non-Module gadgets such as iMono/Poly.
When I launched Module Pro on iPhone, after updating to Pro, that’s when I became aware that the Module expansions were missing. So I’m sure once I painfully restore 1 by 1, they’ll then show up in the Gadgets that use Module.
Anyone notice like a vinyl rumble type sound on a few of the KAPRO presets?
These seem to be the only ones affected...
-KAPRO The Dark
-KAPRO Third Space
-KAPRO Power Plant
-KAPRO Tangersphere
-KAPRO SC 9’6
@ioue can you assist with this? Maybe it’s a bug?
Recent updates were said to address a distortion. Could be...
Hello all, I’m new to the forum. I’m sorry to barge in here with this, I did try to search a bit. This is about Tokyo;
The Tokyo Gadget is a great drum synth but would be so much more useful especially for toms, if we could have a version where it has 4 of the same module (all 404, all 505 etc) or make it modular where the user can choose which 4 modules to use inside. The best I can do now is bounce out each Tom after changing the pitch and import them into Bilbao- (this is ok but it’s so much easier when you can just tweak from the synth modules for each song!). Another option is to use 3 to 5 instances of Tokyo just for toms, so..... You can kind of make it sound like 4 toms as it is now and it’s kind of cool but the transients all sound different. I’m not sure if I know how to shout out @ioue but I hope he sees this. Big fan
I’m sorry if this has been said already or I should have made a new thread. Hello everyone & I’m glad I found this forum, iOS is really blowing up. I’ve been using Gadget since the initial release to compose while traveling but I use it all the time now, often when I’m next to my rig. I feel like it has tighter midi than pro tools sometimes
Welcome @maxwellhouser, I have thought about Tokyo with interchangeable modules too.
Personally I’m not a big fan of its sound, bit thin (I do love electronic drums in general).
Have you tried using Montpellier or Lexington for percussion?
The perfect 'Korg Style' addition for a Tokyo update would be to port over the 'dsp code' the from the Volca Drum or iElectribe and at the same time enable a modular approach and let us 'swap out' any of the 4 'modules' maybe we want four kicks in one instance or maybe a sample from Bilbao or Amsterdam?
This modular approach would make it a lot smoother to sequence the sounds too without having to jump between Gadgets...
Thank you, no I haven’t but I’ll give it a try. I do like the Tom sounds I can get w Tokyo but I do filter some top end off to make it work. The music I’m working on actually needs thin toms...
I wouldn't worry using many Tokyo instances. They're light on resources, no problem.
Or use the iMS20 gadget which is the better drum synth anyway
(have you seen https://d.pr/f/7Xjqiq ?)
I really like the possible Tom sounds from Tokyo 404 and 505 modules. So easy, quick, light on cpu. If you have 5 instances for Toms it’s a nightmare, the modules are all on the same note. 5 tracks to enter midi to make a tom fill is not ideal. Especially if you are trying a bunch of deferent fill ideas.
I love the ms20/Memphis for bass. I will give it a try for Toms as well as the above suggestions of Montpellier and lex. I did modify the cymbal preset in Memphis and used it recently. Thanks for the suggestion!
Oh, that's true, I didn't think of that.
I'm always interested in new ideas and workarounds
Another option is to use one Tokyo instance and automate the pitch of the 404 module. Not ideal, but it allows for happy accidents
Good point but not my workflow. I’ve been making sample sets for Bilbao to use for now. At least I can still control the decay in there.
Great ideas for Tokyo. I disagree it’s thin. I think it produces some serious punch that other Gadgets are missing and it’s a great compliment to throw a nice punchy layer atop your drums from other gadgets. It is very odd that you can’t change sounds though. Don’t hold your breath on the update. Better of doing what one user mentioned about sound designing a TOM etc, exporting and importing into Bilbao or Vancouver
I have to say that after some lengthy importing of sample sets (Battery 4’s Factory Samples around 3Gb) into the Korg Gadget iCloud folder, and then some lengthy clicking the cloud icon of ‘each’ and ‘every’ sample to download to my device to show them up in Gadgets browser...I’m happy with the new files update...
...it can actually handle a lot...
...one folder has over 2000 various hats (u never know!) and I can scroll through and browse without an issue...
That’s Bilbao sorted...
Now for some loops for Abu Dhabi....and Stockholm....
You’re a better man than me. Luckily I made my 120 kits while we still had direct-from-Dropbox.
