Electribe Wave is a great surprise. It always felt like a gadget anyway, but regardless, I wasn't expecting it. This is wonderful because I love making sounds in Electribe Wave but the groovebox paradigm just does not 'click' with me. So now I can finally get some use out of it (having paid for it long ago).

I bought Otorii and Ebina straight away because I'm into that shit, but I have to say, with Otorii you're essentially paying for a sample kit for Bilbao, but with special presentation. Totally worth it for me because some of these sounds are [chef's kiss] — some punchy, punchy drums in there — but just be aware.

    How does Ebina sound?

@Samu will be happy Wave now a Gadget cool beans from Doug ! Plus the 2 new gaming gadgets have turned up.

  • @ioue dear Korg guys.. thank you so much 🙂

  • Has this happened for anyone with the OTORII gadget? The gadget itself appears missing when you bring it up to use it...

  • Any thoughts, ideas, reviews, on these new gadgets?

Yeah, it was a nice morning surprise for sure!

Even though the the two new Gadgets are 'romplers' there's plenty of scope for experimentation with sample start, end and loop/repeat options to turn the samples into 'glitch heaven' especially with some clever automation.
Ebina has quite a few variations on the FM theme that cover a pretty wide spectrum so I'd say they are both worth it.

Warszawa Gadget was a nice surprise too but I miss the 'drums'(with dedicated IFX per drum) so I do hope Korg will add a 'Gadget' for that as well finally allowing a bit more control over user samples :)

Don't know if the 'offset' is broken or 'by design' but since it's enabled when using PCM waves I was expecting it to control sample-start but it seems to be a no-go at the moment.

This would bring the Warszawa closer to 'Volca Sample' if/when it allows loading of user-samples and/or wavetables...

Then again Korg may even be re-cooking the entire Volca line as Gadgets :)

I'll dig deeper during the day...
(Also need to go fetch some more of those gift-cards to refill the ASbalace lol).

@Jefe0820 bit of a review here.

The sounds in the video are from the new gadgets.

  • edited August 2019

Um guys, ALL THE NOTES ARE THERE NOW ON THE GUI KEYBOARDS

c Ionian scale = cdefgab and they are all there. no missing Korg notes.

Edit: Doh, this was a setting, scale step. I guess I never even tried to figure it out. Somehow the update made some of my gadgets open up that way with the full 7 steps. (Why isn’t that the default setting though?)

I dont know how You guys but my opinion is that WAVE has so many sounds (two IAPS folders gives about 100 more presets and extra wavetables - :* ) that for now I skip the new gaming gadgets

Unfortunately the new sample browser is still broken with iCloud. You cannot see files unless they are downloaded to the device.

This is NOT how iCloud works in any other app, you can always see all files, and you have the ability to download any files that are only in the cloud.

The old browser worked the same way, but in the new browser they removed that ability. And since iOS will automatically offload files from the devices when it needs space, with no user control, the new browser is useless for iCloud.

According to a previous post by @ioue this new behavior is by design, but I really hope Korg will reconsider this and allow you to see ALL files and have the ability to download files that are only in iCloud. I don’t see how iCloud will be useful any other way. For now I have to move my files to the “On my iPad” folder to ensure I can see them (so they won’t be automatically offloaded), but then they will not be available on other devices, and not backed up, which is the whole point of iCloud support :disappointed:

    Yesss!

@Rodolfo i wonder if you might do me a favour and post a screen shot of the MG/fx page of the warszawa gadget... i’m a bit on the fence about it and wanted to see how much is ‘removed’ from Wave in gadget.. can’t find a pic of that page anywhere..
    tanks in advance.

  • @Peter321
Of course I understand your point. As I mentioned this is a design in this new browser, but I also know that this is not the best.

There are 2 completely different concept to manage files. I just picked one simple usual way: as a result, I cannot see not-downloaded files right now. I will have a vacation time in Japan from the next week, refresh my head, and might dive in this topic. Meantime, hope you guys enjoy the new gadgets.

BTW, I pushed new source codes in this update to let the selected samples appear when you open the browser.

    @RockySmalls
There is no diff between KEW synth and Warszawa. You can see 2 LFOs, EQ, and an effect.

  • @ioue Really loving this update :)

As @dendy mentioned some of us really would love to see a linear mode for the sequencer (and then use the 'scenes mode' as a clip launcher where the launched clips get recorded to the time line for easy live arrangement / recording).

It might be out of scope but more places and Gadgets where user samples could be used would me a very welcome addition.
This would mean user samples /wavetables for gadgets like Warszawa & Wolfsburg.

Also don't know if it's by design but the 'offset' remains lit for PCM waveforms in Warszawa but it doesn't affect the sample/wave start?!

Also since Electribe Wave contains some drum / percussion samples not available in Gadget a 'companion' drum Gadget based on the Electribe Wave could also be handy allowing individual IFX's per drum sound which can not be done with any of the current Gadgets unless using multiple instances...

And well, I still have a soft spot for the original iElectribe and would love to see that one 'Gadgetized' as well...

Bot for now, enjoy your vacation :)

  • @ioue I have noticed a small issue with Preset names in Warszawa...it is not showing ' properly...
Screenshots from both Warszawa and KEW below

    hi Andy,
i guess that’s the apostrophe in ‘i’m’ doing that.. strange it doesn’t read the same in gadget..
but any road, thanks for posting a screeny of the second warszawa page.. i was most curious how it looked.
    @Rodolfo no need now,
    @ioue thanks for yr reply...

  • I'm stoked about kew being in gadget now! I have wanted this forever!
I'm considering iwavestation but I wanna make my own sounds, I just asked on another thread about how to import sounds and waiting to hear what is said, but I want to make atmospheric and Foley type sounds cuz I've heard great demos on YouTube, but I don't wanna pay 25$ for someone else's sounds lol

Thanks @ioue I hope you have a great (and well deserved!) vacation. If you look at other apps (like Apples own Garageband for example) you will see that ALL files are visible (mainly project files for GB), with an indication (cloud icon) of whether they are downloaded or not. I hope you can see the benefit of this and find a way to implement it in Gadget again.

For now I'm just using local storage and sticking to one device, but I want Gadget to be the best 😉 I'm sure you can get it there  Thank you for listening to us and participating in the forum - it is very much appreciated :+1:

  • At last! Thanks to this I finally understand how to work Electribe Wave.

    subconsciously... you did! (((🧠)))

  • @ioue thanks for the update...!

Thanks for considering a review the iCloud browser it is best we can see the samples in the cloud

I’m a passionate lover of gadget since day one and would like to ask if you plan to resolve the following issue or is it by design....

I select Gadget icon from home screen to open the previous project and it has Bilbao and user samples in a user program within the project yet the user samples do not load...this is the same for Vancouver....only re-opening the project loads the samples

  • @ioue also please consider double tap to reset a parameter to the default value...this will improve workflow a lot.....thanks.

  • ...and just one more thing....I have the Mac version of Gadget...

...is there a way for the AU (when opened in Ableton) to access the same iCloud folder that the iOS versions do?

And also the Mac versions of user sample Gadgets?

    Thanks!

  • Wow, KEW Gadget, unexpected and wholly desired. Haven't used KEW much since launch, so time for another shot.
