Can you put the kits in folders?

Yes, you can organize folders in the files app. also I’ve been just moving whole folders one at a time from Dropbox to iCloud and then move one folder at a time to local gadget folder. The files app system upgrades made all that much easier. Works for Rex too

  • Fx like EQ , saturation, chorus and reverb and even the filter can make a thin sound more full and resonant. I think London has a vast collection of toms sampled from Korgs long legacy of drum machine modules so don’t completely discount what’s already there but not yet discovered :/

I have to say the Dropbox integration had a superior workflow in that you could audition samples within Gadget while they were still in the cloud....something sorely missing from the Files app within Gadget

Good call, I just went and made a Tom template for myself in London, it does have a bunch of toms. Bummer that they only have one single sample for each Tom style. You do loose some punch when you pitch shift a drum audio sample which is what I suspect happens in London with the ‘tune’ knob.

  • @maxwellhouser you can/should layer drum sounds for situations like these. For example you can find a punchy kick, shourten it’s length so you only get the transient and layer it with your down pitched tom. The cool thing about Gadget is how it emulates the hardware workflow and as a result it’s riddled with limitations that force us to adapt and evolve.

I like to layer electronic drums with foley sounds as well. There are some great sample vendors like Goldbaby, That Sound, Origin, mr Bill etc that have packs including or dedicated just transients and sine waves and foley for drum layering.

I’m really in here specifically trying to get the Tokyo drum synth improved for making synth toms that sound like they come from vintage drum machines in gadget. I like to be able to change the parameters at the synth level and not a sample while the track is being developed. All in one instance of Toyko. I won’t hold my breath for an update but hopefully the idea will be in their head from osmosis.

  • @branis said:
Another option is to use one Tokyo instance and automate the pitch of the 404 module. Not ideal, but it allows for happy accidents :)

Thank you I just forced myself to work this way and you’re right, I came up with a few cool/different-than-usual fills. Also this way when you have a fast roll on the same tom or any drum you can automate tuning for each consecutive hit a very small amount to reduce machine gunning.

Tokyo is really specific and once you start tweaking knobs you could really come up with some cool stuff either to drive a track or to use as layers. London has a decent variety of Toms.

But if you guys are Toms lovers, I highly recommend spending the money on iMaschine 2 (if it’s still in the App Store). Without even spending on Expansions, you’ll get Quantum and Ultimate Collections included with the $10 purchase for iM2 and that should give you (I believe) about 50 Toms or so. If you spend another $10 on 10 expansions you’ll have dozens more Toms along with all the other drums and sounds.

Anyone know if you can map the midi cc’s of the channel FX? I know they are at the bottom of the automation list when I scroll down and I can control them via this way but they are missing from the list when mapping cc’s.....I would like to tweak the filter live with a knob whilst recording but it looks like a feature yet to be implemented unless I am missing something?

That's something I'd really like to have, but I think it's currently not possible.

  • This may have been covered previously but does anyone have any intel if the Otorii and Ebina gadgets are coming to Gadget iOS / Desktop?

  • Hmm was the recent Gadget update just a dream?

  • No, its real!

  • Fits nicely inside gadget

  • I am surprised about the warszawa gadget!
That’s one way to get me to buy the standalone
    Sheesh lmao

Same. Not much interest on its own for me - but now ...

Nice! KEW goodness without the annoyance of its sequencer. Of course I already get around that with Xequence 2, but still. B)

  • Boom. Yes this is good.

  • No demos for Otorii or Ebina. Any idea what they sound like?

  • YAY YAY YAY

Electribe Wave is a great surprise. It always felt like a gadget anyway, but regardless, I wasn't expecting it. This is wonderful because I love making sounds in Electribe Wave but the groovebox paradigm just does not 'click' with me. So now I can finally get some use out of it (having paid for it long ago).

I bought Otorii and Ebina straight away because I'm into that shit, but I have to say, with Otorii you're essentially paying for a sample kit for Bilbao, but with special presentation. Totally worth it for me because some of these sounds are [chef's kiss] — some punchy, punchy drums in there — but just be aware.

    Awesome update!
The Electribe Wave synth is one of my favourites, so nice to have it in Gadget.

  • Man I thought otorii and ebina would be free in upgrade. Arnt they free on the switch version?

And the IAPs for electribe wave says $3.99 CAD each. I presume this is the regular price and not on sale?

  • Does the Gadget wave do drums too?

    No, just the synth.

  • Nice. Just started using Gadget again after a long hiatus, and am a fan of the Wave Electribe synth engine...

Now, if they could just weave the iKaossilator into Gadget somehow so that you could launch clips independent of scene...

Okay now I’m being greedy. :p
