  • @rs2000 Same for the white font on light grey background.

Yup. Unseeable. I've been figuring it must be me....

  • I'm in the same boat. I purchased the mac version in Jan.2018 so i will have to pay $99 for the upgrade. I think i will wait until the additional 2 new gadgets and .nks are added before upgrading. That way I will feel like I'm getting more bang for my buck:)

  • By using Taipei you can use the IAA versions of the IAP synths, getting the full UI....and then when you’ve got what you’re after, save and load in the gadget...you’ll have to copy paste the part in gadget because for some reason only known to themselves you cannot change a midi track to a gadget track..or back again....why oh why ? We can do it anyway :)

  • Yes, the white text on grey is a real “what were they thinking moment”. Having all the text more “hd” style now just makes it worse.

  • I launched Gadget 2 iOS for the first time and it prompted me to install iMS20. I clicked Install and it launched the iMS20 stand-alone app, but never returned to Gadget 2. When I returned myself, it prompted me again! I can't get it to install. Any ideas? BTW, sorry if this has already been asked. I don't see how to search within this 15 page thread. Nor have I had any luck getting notifications for replies, so I'll probably still have to search for that anyway. Thanks.

  • The current sale price goes through March 31. It would be very helpful if KORG updated Gadget with those two “Coming Soon” gadgets. Real hard to justify spending $99 on essentially iMS-20, and iPolysix. For Mac, the Taipei MIDI module and the bass gadget are pretty much useless/unnecessary, so knowing what those two other gadgets will be is important.

  • What a disappointing update. Love Korg but where are the improvements? Its $99 on mac for what appears to be just a new color theme. All that hype.

  • @Eclipxe Thanks!

This has gotta be the only iOS music app that still doesn't support a double-click controller for returning to default value.

  • There is a single envelope that serves both the VCA and VCF. The EG intensity knob dictates how much of the envelope is applied to the filter. On the VCA page the envelope generator mode is switchable between a fixed two stage envelope and the ADSR of the EG.

  • What a brilliant idea - just tried it with ipolysix and it works perfectly. Thanks!

I've taken up Gadget again and I was fiddling with audio Gadgets when I realized that you can't record two audio in simultaneously. You can input 1 and 2(I tried with Rosario and Zurich, vocals and electric guitar) but you can't record them. Only way to record them both is if I use audio input 1(my vocal mic) on the same track/gadget as electric guitar. I don't want to mesh my voice with the guitar and that amp 🤔🤨

It might been so even on Gadget 1.

  • Can somebody explain to a dumb person like me what this is good for? I mean, controlling a gadget in gadget with taipei?

No, no, he has clothes on I promise you.

😂 My english surely doesn‘t cover the whole range of possible meanings, so I didn‘t see that one coming...

  • My new favourite thing - making loops in Koala sampler, and dropping them into Zurich.

  • Accessibility setting « reduce transparency » has to be disabled for better visibility, so forget that optimization when using Gadget 2.

@branis thanks for posting this, there's one thing that really puzzles me, how do patch in the external signal? As per your screenshot, I simply can't find any way to do this, could you describe the process step-by-step?

  • Tap on the socket @richardyot , a menu pops up. Really obvious I know..

  • @richardyot, just tap the jack with no cable connected. A pop up allowing you to select the track to input from will appear.

  • @Jocphone and @wim thanks! I was tapping and dragging out the cable, so I never discovered that gesture.

  • Is Lisbon worth purchasing? Just missing this one, Deemax and Stockholm. Can’t see why I need Deemax as I can export stems and apply any number of much better maximisers. Don’t use Reason so don’t need Stockholm. Wondering about what type of gap sounds from Lisbon covers not available with other gadgets.

  • Memphis and Pompei don't show up in the list when I select a new instrument but they are showing on my iPad, granted I have not purchased them... But that shouldn't matter, is anyone else seeing this or have a solution..
And yes I did update to v2 🤣

Oh maybe they are only iPad apps , bummer, I mean I have an iPad but I wanted them on my xs max as well....i think that's why I don't see em tho lol

  • @davis_korgrd

Well, I tried the various IFX, and I had the saturator working on my 2018 iPad. However, it doesn't work on my iPad Pro 11", wtf? Come on! Besides a better EQ, a saturator was one of the main IFX I waited for. This is ridiculous. I could understand a small company consisting of a single developer missing a critical bug such as that, but a whole team? Let's get it fixed please.

  • Did some testing and sad to say battery use has not improved for me (iPad Pro 9.7)
As been mentioned before it depends on which screen and actions.
But playing some Madrid for 7 min (no sequence running) used almost 10% battery! :'(

  • Haven't been as involved with iOS stuff lately, so the Gadget 2 release snuck up on me. It's pretty impressive, especially if you had already been invested in Korg apps over the last 5+ years. There's apps I've had like iPolysix and iMS-20 that barely got used, and now they have sudden functionality within Gadget. The Durban bass processor is also interesting, though I've been using a HX Stomp for guitar and bass, so I think I'd do better just recording a raw audio signal with Zurich and doing the processing outside iOS.

But the free Taipei add-on is the real show-stopper. A lot of people could have and would have used Gadget just for the sequencer, but for the lack of MIDI out. Now we (mostly) have that.

Question about saving templates, however...I didn't see if there was a way to save configurations and CC mappings as "presets" within Taipei. BUT, I assume you could just make a dummy project where you have like 4 different Taipei's, and one goes to UNO Synth, and the other three go to three different Volcas, and the Channel mappings and CC knobs stay saved for each. You start with a clear piano roll and begin programming from there. This would work, right?

In that scenario, Gadget functions more like a "BeatStep Pro on steroids", as opposed to a full DAW. Still, it'd be the best solution available to me for sequencing multiple units of external gear.

I thought i would not like Lisbon but I find myself using it a lot. the sounds are very metallic but also smooth and glossy. for me its like a combination of Chiang Mai and Phoenix somehow. the imterface is kind of dumb but yeah i try to ignore it.

Thanks @sysexual. The desire to complete the collection is real. Realized I haven’t bought the 80s video game doohickey either which I’m sure I don’t need but I think I’ll grab Lisbon after your assessment and watching @jakoB_haQ video. It does look goofy though.
