Great title korgie lol
Have only been able to try it out briefly today (been having migraine all day), will hopefully be able to dig into to it all tomorrow.
First, I'll definitely have countless hours of fun with this one. And what a beautiful app, really cool artwork done on the machines (I've tried so far). Only messed around a few min with a demo song, and it sounds really good/fresh! The midi editor is a breeze to use from what I tried.
Secondly, one thing I immediately noticed while quickly trying the unit with the sampled drums (London?) was the latency. It's pretty bad, and I'm guessing the same goes for all units. Definitely something Korg needs to look into. Up to 5 ms would be acceptable when laying down a beat, this is quite a bit higher though. Not completely unplayable if you do things more slowly and one or two things at a time. But if you're doing fast hi hats, kicks, snares and percs in one take with your fingers all over, the high latency here will definitely be very very noticeable. On the flip side, the unit have lots of kits that are really fresh sounding, not the same old same old you'll find in everything else. I'm sure Korg will tighten up the latency issues while they keep building upon this app.
Anyway looking forward to give this beast on real proper spin tomorrow, as I said I've only spent like 10 minutes with it. It's like walking into a candy store filled with synth goodies.

You must be saying "game" because it looks FUN. And uh, I usually pay $60 for a game, so this is a deal either way.

Lol i think Korg shocked more developers than retronyms hahahaha! It really was a great marketing idea was'nt it. I am happy to have given them my hard earned money! I can already tell that I am going to get back way more in pleasure than what I invested in money..
All i can say is wow... very nice and glad i bought it...
Nice work Supadom, you played the "game" quite well! I don't suppose you Enjoyed your "game"?
Tip: do you want to resize the keys? Press scale then alter the octave range and scale step to show more or less keys for you to play. These can be set independently for each machine so you could have two of the same modules showing a different key range.
Looks like there's quite a few new gadgets coming too.

Gaz has done a review for people wanting to have a squiz before buying
So, I wondered above, ... how is this going to fit into my workflow....
I discovered it isn't....
It's created a whole new workflow for me :-) I've finally found a fun way to work with step sequencing which up until now has not been my "thing" ... before this app. That's got to say something about how easy it is to use - albeit it takes a little getting used to.
A new genre of music awaits adding to my preferences here :-)
It's funny, just the other day i was thinking to myself "it's about time Korg comes out with something new because they've been quiet for quite a while...." No wonder!
On tempo and latency, I slowed the tempo down to enter and increased the number of bars per track, and made the step interval more granular - made it all easier with the small keyboard. I'm going to have to hook this up with iConnectMIDI2+ and the DAW and see what I can do with a MIDI keyboard.
Gaz certainly seemed to be getting his monies worth! It was not hard to tell how much fun he was having.
Even if i try to like it,ican't get over the fact that it works just in portrait mode.Maybe i'll wait for the first sale and probably it has Landscape mode then
It's nice from Korg to release something new but i was hoping more for IAA updates for iPolysix,iElectribe etc...
@Buska Ooooh! 1984!!!! We ALL know what instrument THAT will sound like!!! :-) I'm excited with what Korg has done with this app! After I buy my new headphones and this app gets Audiobus/IAA, I'll be looking seriously at this one! :-)
.
Difference is.... Indie dev vs. KORG (Brand, History, etc)
Any performance, functionality issues aside, I enjoy this, and it certainly has led to a lot of discussion here. What I'm wondering though is what the othe big guys are thinking...Roland, Yamaha, etc. I hope this lights a fire under them to join the future of music.

I don't! Please enlighten me.
Someone else made a good point about landscape mode, given the way this is laid out you will more than likely never see that implemented. I decided not to wait for something that likely will never happen and am glad about that . Portrait mode works great.

Buska, where on earth did you find that juicy tidbit....?

From iFunbox or similar iOS file browser. The master limiter is the master limiter already in there, and the channelstrip would be the mixer, I'm guessing. M01...didn't one unit use samples from the M1? The rest could be leftovers from things that didn't get implemented in time for the deadline perhaps? (And are thing a we'll hopefully see soon;)
How do the drum machine gadgets stack up against iElectribe?
.
Well, I got this largely because I like the Korg sound, but Im not blown away by the interface which apart from being glitchy to edit and impossible to play, puts you tightly in a wee beat making box. It kind of reminds me of Table Top or whatever it is: Im a musician and that means I expect expensive apps to integrate with my workflow not invent a tiny little world of their own. Korg need to up their game because this ... Is... Lame
It is most definitely not impossible to play. Given all of the great work already posted to soundcloud we know that is not the case. My use of it and yours might be lame, but the app certainly produces excellent work once we learn how to use it as well as others already obviously have. I am getting better at it but I have a long way to go. However I must say I am having a ton of fun learning and it will be worth my efforts I can tell. Hats of to the developers for their work even if I am not a virtuoso with it yet it still sounds pretty darned good.
I'm downloading it now - Spooky though, day before yesterday I answered a 'What do you want from iOS Music developers' email and I explained (I want) something strikingly similar to this (korg Gadget). Then yesterday voila the 'Juicy (Korg Gadget) Beast' was released. I already love it!!!
Fingers crossed its a smooth run & not buggy...Yaaaaaay for Korg - Love you!!!
@firejan82 My guess would be this sound for the "1984" gadget:
OK, cool. Thanks. I was googling stuff like 1984 movie soundtrack instrument used but I quickly gave up.
