Noob question do you have to load your midi effect plugin on a separate instrument track and use i/o properties to send midi between the instrument you want to control and the midi effect?

As can seem to get it to work?

You open up the instrument and from there select the four squares to load in a MIDI AUv3.

Happy to see midi fx, thank God for this forum, been trying to figure out how for like 40 minutes, I would have NEVER guessed holding down the instrument plugin in a 100 years, lol. So now one other things that been driving me nuts, is how exactly do you set the size of the piano keys? Thanks in advance.

Ha that one took me a while.. drag down on the strip right above the piano keys

You weren’t alone, I just found out from Matt’s post....

    To use MIDI Plugins:
Touch and hold on an instrument slot and you will see a new "Add MIDI Effect" option.
Please let us know if you experience any stuck notes or bad performance with AU instruments and effects.

    Enjoy!

    Matt

Cheers @Strizbiz sorted now. Definitely needs midi record though otherwise it’s only good for live use and not producing so plus one for that addition.

  • Zenbeats hung twice scanning plugins, but eventually got a grip.

I don't find where touch and hold on an instrument slot presents an option to add a MIDI effect, but I do see the option to add a MIDI effect in the upper left of the instrument view.

I think it's constraining to have the MIDI effect enclosed in an instrument. I often want to swap-out the instrument but keep the same MIDI effect, or send the same MIDI effect to two different instruments, possibly with a different MIDI filter or transform for each instrument. Several of the MIDI effects, such as Polythemus, are designed to be routed to multiple targets.

Just wanted to let everyone know we just pushed Zenbeats 1.0.3 out with lots of plugin hosting fixes and MIDI Plugin support.

    Here's the change log:

New: MIDI Plugin Support (iOS, macOS and Windows)
Fixed several 3rd party plugin compatibility issues
    Fixed several On-Screen Instrument Bugs
    Made some MIDI editing enhancements
    Fixed iPhone 11 compatibility

Thanks for this. Super happy to see midi AU support. A quick test with Rozeta went well. There doesn’t seem to be any way to record the midi, or to route to other channels. Is this correct?

That's correct for now. Would you like to have a way to record the output of MIDI effects directly to the track?

Also while we’re on MIDI how about the ability to record the MIDI output of Auv3 instruments plugin like DigiStix that have their own internal sequencers. For example in GarageBand when you arm such a track you can capture the MIDI output of DigiStix and print MIDIto the track for further manipulation and arranging etc.

  • Ok, sooooo....what exactly is the deal with multi core support? I don’t know if I’ve been completely over looking it all this time but I just noticed it today, and I’m on an iPad Air 2, which I understand has 3 cores? But when I enable it everything just gets distorted and crackles like crazy when I open a session I did earlier, using the plugins shown. I’ve tried different buffer sizes but using multi core support seems like a bad thing. Am I missing something here or miss understanding what multi core support means? I thought enabling in would be an advantage in some way?

  • Thanks for the truly brilliant update Matthew, AU midi effects are awesome, please implement a way to record their output into a clip!

External midi or AU midi Fx output

recording the newly added Midi FX. Wierd oversight. Strikes me as a “duh” thing to add but NS2, BM3, Cubasis and now this missed. Must be difficult to implement. I think Cubasis finally caught up after a year. Hopefully it doesn’t take @MatthewAtZenbeats team that long.

  • @MatthewAtZenbeats i hope account transfer time (from Stagelight) will be extended for users that live in "not available" countries?

@MatthewAtZenbeats hi there Matt.i keeps crashing a lot on iPad Pro 11.plus it has an issue with AudioLayer, on the previous version, I just had to tap force to 44.1 to fix the audio glitch but the option is missing.plus it’s still not full screen on the iPad Pro 11.
The red “line” is the space between Zenbeat and the rest of the screen.also normally in full screen view the time and date shouldn’t be showing.

Here is a video in regards to the audio glitches

This is an experimental feature aim at iPad Pro models. It is defaulted it Off as most other devices will not support it.

@Paa89 Thanks for the info, we'll look at Audio Layer. In the meantime, can you go to settings/audio tab and try enabling Multi-Core Support and see if that makes a difference? We removed the Force 44.1 option as we now mange that in the background on devices that need it. Ipad Pros, will have this active automatically.

  • I already subscribed for Roland Cloud...would be nice if I could use same subscription with Zenbeats

Hi there Matt .i just tried and no luck.when I tried to change the buffer size from 256, it doesn’t show any other numbers.i tried restarting Zenbeats to see if that would change but still no luck.
    Here is the test

  • @Paa89 try o soft or hard reboot. It seems something has locked the buffer size

Anyone else had the same experience?

Go to the Zenbeats Store then click on the My Stuff tab. Make sure the iOS Unlock V1 is downloaded

Ok PM me your purchase details and email address you use to sign into.

    Hi Matthew

I reported my problem to Roland and they could not help me. I bought my stuff on the Stagelight app upgraded it but they can’t get me in with all the myriad sign up and login requests. Only app I have to sign into again and again. After a week of that they gave up on me and said that they are working on it but could not help me login despite signing up for the Roland Backstage Pass. Are all these logins really necessary as they seem to be my problem getting into the app which I have not yet managed to do.

  • Not sure if it is a bug or not, but when Im trying to edit the parameters of an external app ( Show Parameters ) the recorded preset will jump to an initial preset, loosing all settings initially made.

    Certainly a bug ,reproduced...

I'm pretty sure the App Store doesn't filter its offerings by the user's IP address, but by the country of the credit card used by their Apple ID 😉

  • This certainly was a rather rocky release, the change over has been anything but smooth. And Roland will not refund those who bought the whole enchilada Stagelight app with the iap upgrades. I feel abandoned.

  • Is automation possible inside a Auv3 app? like drawing or direct recording? Is it per clip or performance?

  • @Sergiu said:

    Yes.
You can "print" automation from clips to a track. Or from a track to a clip.

  • It crashes when scanning plugins and i couldn't figure out how to automate a parameter from an external plugin. is there a video out showing this procedure?
