    Hi @MatthewAtZenbeats

I’ve upgraded my phone to an iPhone 8+ - so have now got Zen Beats running (on the latest iOS).

Seems to run quite nicely actually.

However, I can’t seem to get any actual multi-channel MPE data recording in Zen Beats. Even though I have ‘enable as MPE’ switched on for the instrument.

When I play AUs like Volt or Roli Noise in Zenbeats I can hear the MPE working and being fed through to the instrument. But when I hit record the resulting midi only contains one channel of Aftertouch. Nothing else. And when payed back it no longer sounds right (sounds like it’s then only using one channel).

So could you explain how multichannel MPE data is supposed to get recorded and edited in Zen Beats?

    Thanks...

@Matt_Fletcher_2000 Looking into this. What MPE hardware are you using?

    Hi @MatthewAtZenbeats

Having trouble finding the appropriate support area at Roland - how can I bypass ZB scanning plugins at startup on macOS? Hangs and crashes out - probably a rogue iLok / eLicenser issue under Catalina, but I can’t get into ZB at all with the crash. Other DAWs scan fine. I’ve unlocked everything. As the progress bar only lists number of plugins, I can’t identify / blacklist whichever’s causing the problem.

    TIA.

We're working on this issue right now for 1.0.5. I'll post here once it is live.

  • I try to record control change with zen beats.
It’s not possible? or am doing something wrong?
    Anyone succeed to do this?

  • @MatthewAtZenbeats any news about region lock? ZenBeats is still unavailable in Ukraine and other countries. I had full iOS unlocked version of Stagelight - now i have just discontinued application (and i cannot transfer my license to ZenBeats because it doesn't available in Ukraine).

I’m using MPE software... eg the Aftertouch app

    https://apps.apple.com/gb/app/aftertouch-3d-midi-controller/id1133701231

    and KB-1

    https://apps.apple.com/gb/app/kb-1-keyboard-suite/id1437919435

Both send compliant MPE data on multiple midi channels.

I have a request for the ios and android version. On the windows version it is possible to use the computerkeyboard to play notes like a piano. Could this please be activated for the other versions. I have a chromebook running the android version, but the keyboard is not detected for this purpose. The same goes for the ios version, my bluetooth keyboard can not be used for playing a melody.

Another request is for the roli block. On the ios and windows version there's native support, but not on the android (chromebook) version. Can this be activated?

Thanks in advance, I really love zenbeats on all my devices

  • It’s different for iOS keyboards. With PC’s there is both a key-down and a key-up message. IOS doesn’t detect the key-up, only the key-down. So, apps can’t know when to turn a note off when using an iOS keyboard. They could only lay down fixed length notes of some duration.

This is one of the reasons so few iOS music apps support this.

Thanks for clearing that up ;)

Well, I hope they can do something for the android (chromebook) version.

  • @MatthewAtZenbeats hello there Matthew, when I import a 808 sub sample into Sampleverse, the volume is very low and also, if I set the samples key to C1 and the tap on C1 on the keyboard, it’s sound different from the original.
iPad Pro iPadOS 13.2.3, am I missing something?

Is the auto pitch key (tuningg fork icon) enabled? Try disabling that and see if that works.

Ok will do some testing to see if I can repro. Would you be able share the sample?

  • Gave it a go today.
Initialized my plugins and in this Progress the app crashed three times... then they wanted an account. Then it left the device.
Not that I don’t have enough DAWs and host ;)

  • Welcome update!

  • Yes agreed welcome update and liking the colour schemes. Great DAW / Groovebox this hope improvements and updates continue @MatthewAtZenbeats.

  • @Jumpercollins Thanks and the updates will keep coming.... Stay tuned! :-)

Maybe there can be an update audio option wise? Like being able to select between 16 bit and 24 and choosing different sampling rates and also output formats, like mp3 or Apple lossless format. Also is there a problem with mixing down using some audio units like Blackhole? I had a project I just had to give up on mixing down because it wouldn’t finish rendering, I’m talking about maybe a 3 minute song with about 6 tracks taking hours and not finishing rendering. I ended up recording the song over again in Cubasis because I couldn’t get ZenBeats to render a mix down.

Excuse my ignorance but I have a question, is this app connected to mainstage or more importantly does this app contain the auto-sampling option mainstage had?

    No, and no.

@Strizbiz Thanks for the suggestions and sorry you had issues with Blackhole. Have you tried the real-time mixdown option? If not, can you try and tell me if that works? We added that option back in 1.0.4 for plugins that had issues during mixdown.

  • Hey @MatthewAtZenbeats You all happen to post a change log anywhere for the PC version update today? 1.0.5.7649

    Cheers!

  • @All Forgive me for not being a champ and reading through this impressive/exhaustive collection, but I just received an email encouraging me to switch to Zenbeats before the end of the month. I never did use Stagelight much, but is the consensus that this new 'version' is useful/good/being worked on by the Roland folks? Not looking for trouble, just wondering if folks feel it's worth diving in at this point or maybe hold off for a bit etc? Insight welcome.

I think it’s worth diving in. I didn’t use Stagelight much at all, but I started to do so once it changed over. Maybe it was the fact
that I could change the colors. Seems trivial, but it made it much more inviting. It’s actually pretty easy to use, but has some depth.

  • One of my fav apps for sure...serious contender to other grooveboxes out there.
Still don't know if it is possible to record automation with an external midi controller though

Yes. Get it wether you plan to use it now or not. Totally worth it ... which is easy to say since it will cost you nothing.

Hi @JohnnyGoodyear To add to @wim comments, and to answer your question on development, the same development team that made Stagelight (myself included) are now a part of Roland and working on Zenbeats. Since it's release in September, we have put out 5 updates addressing issues while adding/enhancing features... and we are just getting started! :-)

I can't speak for you if it will be worth it or not, but you have nothing to lose in getting it for free. If you do opt to try it and not like it, I'd love to hear from you on how we can make it better.

    Cheers!

I imagine this is a case of you either don't know or can't say, but is Zenbeats going to remain just a standalone product or will it be getting integrated into hardware? I have the new Fantom and it would be great if there was some sort of coupling there.
