I'm curious about scaling... can we run up to 6 instances of GeoShred with 6 SWAM instruments loaded and spread it across 6 channels using MIDI in AUM? or as close to that as the CPU would power? YMMV.

I'm hoping that's a possibility but freezing tracks in Cubasis would be the next path to making really nice
chamber music recordings with these beautiful sampled instruments with extra mod controls. Cubasis
supports MPE MIDI targets and has a nice MPE-enbable keyboard too. It was @thesoundtestroom's "Game Changer" and this fits right into that game for Doug.

    Hi @McD,

yes, you can ideally run multiple instances of GeoShred and load a different Geo-SWAM instrument on each. Of course, the number of instances depends on how much powerful is your device CPU.

    Best,

@moForte ... any chance for a SWAM trumpet? Definitely the hardest acoustic on iOS, IMO.

Audio Modeling has not licensed the Trumpet to moForte/Wizdom at the present time.

If we ALL promise to buy all 6 of these will we get more? I'll promise if we can have more
    and I'm sure another 10 people here would agree. So, that's $75 * 11 = $825. Damn. Split 3 ways?
We'd need something like 15 people, right? Not sure we can commit.

@McD what kind of speculation are you making?

SWAM Trumpet (and all other SWAM Solo Brass) will be very soon released as native Apps and plugins for iPad.

We will eventually license SWAM Geo-Trumpet to moForte/Wizdom in future, but this is an internal - sensitive and confidential - business discussion, as you may understand.

  • This is exciting. Am I reading the last few messages correctly that we'll be able to purchase the SWAM instruments as IAPs in GeoShred and/or direct from AudioModeling?

Yes and I don't think there is a conflict since GeoShred provides excellent interface ,but for users having MPE keyboards ,single AUs would be better suited . Or both :)

    Those are two different products:

    • in GeoShred you will be able to purchase a selection of Geo-SWAM instruments as IAP from moForte
    • while the complete SWAM collection with its own GUI and UX will be available as native iOS Apps and plugins

NOTE: there will not be any possibility of cross-discounts between the two products, unfortunately

It will be an incremental release: first to be released will be SWAM Solo Brass collection, in a couple of months. Then Solo Strings and finally Solo Woodwinds. The whole process will take about 6 months.

Trust me... LOT of work to be done.

@sclurbs: Fuck or Long live?? :D

    I love you!!

    I hate you!!

No one on this planet melts my heart like you. The more fucking that's done, the more babies we'll have to litter the world with.

I bought a trumpet, trombone, and flugelhorn from Craigslist + spending 8 hours a day practicing these instruments because I can't wait for ios solo brass anymore. Thank you for the motivation! Could you please describe your decision to work with Geoshred when they don't even support velocity response like velocity keyboard offers? To me it's a strange decision to work with a screen based midi controller app that doesn't offer all the expression available on the standard ipad screen, because it's not consistent with the 'these plugins won't even work if you don't have an MPE controller' thing.

PS, You state in this thread that Solo Brass is releasing 'in a couple of months". You might wanna change your 'rough roadmap' post on the audio modeling forums, which still says "October 2020 release of SWAM Solo Brass for iOS" which the month previously said "September" which the month previously said "August", which the month previously said.....

  • @audiomodeling I might be asking dumb questions but;

Willthe standalone apps be MPE compatible and run as auv3 plugins ?

  • @moForte , @audiomodeling ,

Thanks for releasing all these wonderfull products. Thanks all of you for the hard work done (or still to be done) :)

@moForte , Dear Pat, maybe you could enlighten people about the "optimizations" done within Geoshred for playing Swam instruments thru IAP. Is it just the control surface parameters which are preset and made easy ? Or are there another little features that would make me want to buy GeoSwam instead of Swam standalone apps, in the case I intend to play Swam instruments via a Geoshred playing surface anyway ?

Finally, if the Audio Modelling sound engine is updated, will it follow thru your IAP deployment ?

I think most people will wonder whether to rush on Geoshred IAP or wait a little more for standalone apps and maybe you should claim what are the pros (although there are always cons) of GeoShred IAP.

Sorry that this great partnering raise so many questions
It is great whatever and I hope everybody will be more than happy.

    Thanks

  • Keep in mind the insanity of the SWAM IAPs in Noise. Having observed that vkustervuvk, I won’t be the first in line to buy these.

  • One problem with Velocity Keyboard is that touch radius doesn't work very well for channel aftertouch. I was just comparing a patch in Noise. Played it on the sensel morph, then on VK with channel aftertouch set up. Nowhere near as good. Geoshred seems to work better for these pressure messages. @sclurbs

    Thanks

The SWAM models that are integrated into GeoShred are known as the Geo-SWAM Instruments.   The Geo-SWAM instruments are expressive multidimensional instruments.  Because the MPE protocol was designed for controlling
multidimensional instruments, the Geo-SWAM instruments can be performed from the GeoShred or MPE controllers ONLY.

In the near future, Audio Modeling will release native SWAM as iOS Apps.  These Apps will offer the most suitable interface for full MIDI control and have been designed specifically to guide the user for correct use and control.

So if I assign a midi controller to control an mpe controller, what will happen?

  • @ion677 said:
So if I assign a midi controller to control an mpe controller, what will happen?

MIDI Inception (what a programmer calls recursion).

If you then connect the MPE controller back to the MIDI controller to complete the loop it would create an infinite composition just before exiting through the MIDI wormhole.

NOTE: The MIDI Wormhole (tm) is not currently a released product. At present only runs on an Android device due to legal issues with an undisclosed alien technology company. "People are saying" the aliens liked the Android Logo and are allergic to Apples Logo... even the image of an apple that has been consumed can induce vomiting. They are NOT lactose intolerant and enjoy cow tossing for exercise and to grab a quick snack on their outings.

  • Lol, I'll have some of what you're having @McD. If you assign midi input to geoshred swam sounds, you get an error message. It doesn't take regular midi, only mpe.

  • I’m trying to figure out how I can block my cards while still being able to buy food 😆

😂😂😂 ah yes. The midi feedback loop. Quite.

But that only happens when two midi sources are assigned to listen to each other.

    @Gavinski said:

Let’s say you assign an mpe instance of KB-1 to control swam in an aum session. Then tell KB-1 to get incoming midi from another instance of KB-1, but not mpe. What then?

  • No idea. Would there be any sense in that workflow? The main point is you can't arp or sequence these sounds, unless you have an mpe arp or sequencer.

  • It was intended to be non-sensical.

MIDI has a source and a target.

MPE is a trick to make a controller that can do pitch bends on a per note basis by splitting
chords across parallel channels in the controller. It appears as multi-track MIDI.

There is a MIDI 2.0 but it's basically some standards to let the hardware tell the controller what it
supports so only the supported features would be sent or exposed to the player.

MIDI all ways flows downhill and loops requiring extra systems to pump the notes back uphill.
Mozaic and Drambo can help build those MIDI pumps to create loops but the hardware tends not to do that... create loops. Infinite echoes are as close as you might get. Hung notes can lead to some
flooding but that's just faulty plumbing allowing water pressure to leak onto the floor.

  • I hope this doesn't become a "Waiting for Drambot" thread that lasts for weeks.
When GeoShred 5 drops everything should follow quickly. That gives me time to
    accumulate the multiples of $15.
