The bit that worries me (not in that article), is the reinfection thing.

So you might be healthy and fight off your first dose, but it’ll leave you weakened and less able to fight it off a second time. Or a third...

This is one of the things that’s getting me to pay more attention too, that and the stock market going haywire. If this is natural and not engineered, will it be the shape of things to come, pathogens that mutate and adapt quicker due to the available hosts outside of humans and a few other species dwindling, kind of like another feedback loop related to the breakdown of the environment.

I think that's not confirmed as reinfection yet but more likely the symptoms receding and then returned, I've had that with flu before... seems a bit unlikely to be reinfection but fingers crossed :)

  • If your wealthy now would be the time to order a respirator and AIDS medication.

If your not so wealthy have you had your flu vaccine.

Seek medical advice first, probably not advisable if your close to the corona hotspots either.

Saw some stinky click bait that said it mutated to have HIV like properties.

Yeah the headlines are mutating faster than the virus :)

  • There’s talk of outdoor pop festivals (of the Glastonbury or Woodstock sort) being not happening this year (although Woodstock wasn’t due this year, being a social marker from a deconstructionist age).

I wonder what social effects this will have along with other similar gatherings (I gather the sport fanatics also gather, I wouldn’t know, I know or care nothing of sport), and I suspect it might mark a shift away from the carefree hippie rebellion days that are for some reason still with us even though the culture had died long ago, and toward what comes next after postmodern dismantling. There must’ve been a time in the 1940s or 50s where large gatherings such as pop festivals were not only highly unusual, but simply not the norm.

"One of the labs testing the virus to finding a cure is 90% certain it came from a gathering and eating bats."

This is patently untrue. It's a bullshit xenophobic trope passed along by garbage media like The Daily Mail and Russia Today. This article in Foreign Policy debunks this.

Let's try to rely on sources we can trust: The New York Times, the BBC, the WHO*, NPR, Johns Hopkins University, Stamford University.

*(At least before Keith Moon died.)

    Why is that racist?

@cyberheater did you read the article that he linked to?

    https://foreignpolicy.com/2020/01/27/dont-blame-bat-soup-for-the-wuhan-virus

I read the article. It was incomprehensible nonsense. Why don’t you explain it to us.

Incomprehensible? What did you consider nonsense?

What did you consider proof that calling out bat soup is racist?

Let me ask you, do you think it is reasonable for people to spread a rumor that the outbreak started with bat soup when there is no evidence that it is true?

  • Mmmmm bats!

With just the right BBQ sauce Yum 😋

  • This is the prime example of why anybody bringing politics onto a music forum should be banned. There’s an infinite number of echo chambers where you can repeat boilerplate to a like-minded crowd. There’s actually very few music forums, especially this good, where in-depth discussions can be had about music technology. Why ruin it with bullshit?

If you don’t want to read non-musical comments, why are you posting in an off-topic thread about the virus?

The forum is 90% music/tech content, plenty of that stuff in the relevant sections.

  • @Apex : this discussion is clearly labeled Off-Topic and can be avoided.

While, I'd prefer not to have doctrinal echo chambers, I do feel that when people post things that normalize or spread ignorance that they should be exposed/challenged.

I also feel that passing around good information has value when there is bad information making the rounds.

Michael will close the discussion if (when?) people cross a certain line.

Remember folks: wash your hands frequently and don't touch the areas around your eyes, ears, nose and mouth unless your hands have been recently washed.

In this case, it probably was the result of my having accidentally hit reply yesterday to a post in which your name appears and then hitting reply intentionally later not seeing the text inadvertently put into the reply box. When I realized the error, I edited the post to remove the earlier reply text that wasn't meant to be sent but the notification system was already triggered.

Btw, referring to discussions and comments you disagree with as "moronic" needlessly insults people. It doesn't add any weight to one's comments to refer to others or their remarks in such an insulting way.

This is the kind of pondering I lay in bed working on when I should be dreaming of unknown girls dammit.

Damn...looks like Ian might be getting sick, he can't remember participating in this thread now... remember, don't touch your face.

While I get the sentiment @Apex is laying down it just really smacks of what's wrong with our planet circa 2020. This virus should show more than ever before how much of a global village we are, extremely connected both physically & digitally upon this mudball.

The approach of tuning out anything not in your direct purview & being content just as long as one has their two screens (50"+ HDTV & smartphone), shelter and Netflix is so way too commonplace IMO.

When almost 45% of the eligible voter's can't be bothered to participate in their own democracy perhaps head in the sand apathy has gone a bit too far...

How can you dream about something you don’t know? I’ll try and work that out later when I’m crawling back from the pub on all fours, honking like a performing seal.

I had a dream last night about a tree stump I pass on my walk every day, that looks like an old sailor smoking a fag. It was going to be cut down by the farmer so I bravely stepped in to save it. Not that I got any thanks for doing so.

Now that’s what you call a proper dream. Make a note.

Th advice to not touch your face is good in theory ...
Practically you are touching your face about 200 times a day without noticing.
U need to wear gloves to realize, uh fuck I just touched my face. So it doesnt work. ;)

True, even in highly controlled lab conditions, normal instinctive habits take years to curtail.
