Again, I'm not implying that a situation like @rs2000 has described can't occur, but it's hard for me to see the exact things that would need to happen in what order to make it occur.
If anyone manages to make a list of steps to make it happen, I'd be on it immediately.
(btw, even if Xequence genuinely crashed because of a theoretical bug or an out of memory condition, it should detect this and restore the last session as it was a maximum of 60 seconds ago).
(Xequence does multiple levels of temporary autoSaves for different scenarios in the background, and tries to intelligently determine what happened and which one would be the most useful).
I'll definitely look into it all again though soon.
Indeed, I haven't been able to reproduce it here either so no worries so far except for the remaining grid snapping limitation.
Thanks again! I highly appreciate your support.
The lack of Logic on iPad at this point is baffling. Surely it's coming eventually.
No worries! I'll still double-check the relevant code one of these days.
I might try to sneak in the separate grid snapping toggle into the next major release, which is planned for somewhere in March or April.
I find NanoStudio 2 an absolute joy to be in. It fits like a glove. It is so stable and easy to use. However, it is lacking a couple big things to make it complete for me. I use it like I use Gadget (walled in with the addition of using external au instruments).
I use Grooverider (imo the best app ever to land on ios) as my "i'm going to complete something" app. I can get songs, ditties, groove pieces done in that app like I have in no other piece of software, ever.
I use Gadget in mostly the same way as above, but am less productive in it. I don't know why. So far (and I'm pretty sure this is my own deficiency) I don't prefer the sound of the mix that I get out of Gadget.
I love to experiment in ApeMatrix and AUM. Never get anything "done" in either environment but love the free-wheeling live improv type thing that these apps offer me.
For everything else, I'm trying to find a way to incorporate with my desktop daws - Reason and Ableton. I think I'll happier in the long run not trying to use ios as a solution but more as a piece of the productive tools. This is just me as a hobbiest speaking.
These are my three faves too, although in reverse order - I'm still the most productive in Gadget. If your mix doesn't sound good then you haven't made use of in-built FX enough. 😅
Seriously, in my songs, there's barely any track without at least two EQ processors in each track's FX slot. The synths sound great standalone but in the full mix they have to be "re-shaped" to combine well.
Experimenting is key. I don't compose in them either but trying out new FX and FX chains works very well in these.
If you know your desktop DAWs well, you will certainly know when it's a good time to switch tools and that's fine.
Why surely? Logic as-is wouldn't work well on a single-screen touch-based device. It would require a lot of re-design. And , as iDevice hardware isn't yet as capable as desktops and laptops for certain kinds of operations, there would be a performance drop-off.
Apple hasn't shown an inclination to dive into Pro software on iOS. So, it isn't obvious that Logic on iOS is something likely (or even desirable) in the near-term.
I've been a Logic user for a long time.
I have absolutely no desire to have it on iOS. It would have to be so different to the desktop version it might as well have a different name.
A more capable GarageBand would be nice though. Perhaps even a Pro version.
Attention new app developers!
If you could make a very simple (VERY) DAW that:
I would not need:
Instruments included
Drum pads, keyboard
Time Stretch, looping, transpose
Sampling
Onboard effects
More than 24 tracks although I think I could do with as little as 12
I do not need more than one way to do anything, one way one button!
In fact I really hate multiple ways to do the same thing! It just becomes convoluted and distracting
I just want something simple, bare bones that works
I know people will say GB but that does a thousand things I don't need or want and only 10 out of the 13 I need. I would not call GB simple
I'd be dangerous if I could make an app 😁
Have you thought about just getting a Surface Pro and running Reaper or Cubase on it? I’m thinking about doing that myself.
Or Bitwig. I've heard people say that it's the most touch-friendly DAW.
https://www.bitwig.com/en/15/bitwig_1_3/surface.html
I'm a bit worried about the stylus that is always shown next to the tablet - is it really that touch friendly? 🙄
When I looked a few months ago I did not see a lot of videos and it has been around a while. I imagine if it was super hotness there would simply be more raving. I think touch control on that fragmented platform holds back Bitwig from being very evolved/sexy in terms of touch. Would love to try it for myself though!
Me too! All I've seen so far is a few YT videos.

Bitwig on Surface Pro (3, in my case) is shit hot and dead sexy...though I use both the touchscreen and the trackpad, which = full joy. Interestingly, what I think is the best choice for OP, MultitrackStudio, had a great touch version for the Surface Pro. Very well sorted, and debugged for over nearly 10 years
Strange the lack of ranting and raving though! Would love to see videos.
PS. Hehe, terstibglu e Pugh, good one!
I thought I used to have this app, but it no longer shows on my downloads list. I remember distinctly buying some IAPs for it and now it shows £7.99 for me. I know I didn’t use it much, but I do hate having apps taken away from me.
Pretty intriguing autocorrect, that...
Ranting and raving is definitely hard to find, though most of the stuff I like doesn’t have too much of that either, MTS is another case in point. I’m the Bitwig example, this might be due to its relative newness and depth. The Grid environment is amazing, but most of what I hear about the Grid is like “well, Ableton already had Max for Live...” Seems most of what is said about Bitwig is answered with something about Ableton...
Only videos I know of are their own stuff on the Bitwig channel. Those vids actually were enough to convince me to get the soft, and the Surface Pro to run it.
This one is over two years old and kind of only half sold me...
I think my concern would be vsts not designed for touch and also can I get a 10" surface that has the juice/value I seek...
That just doesn't happen unless an app gets discontinued - then it happens for everyone. Even then it's usually in people's purchased items even if not available when looking through the normal search.
Could it be that you bought it under a different Apple ID?
The non touch VST thing was a concern for me as well, but turns out that Bitwigs VST containers are touch enabled for any assignable parameters, (most of which are already mapped)
You’d definitely want a reasonably sized screen.
If you ever purchased it, you can find it in your purchase history.
I know, even when they change apps, you keep the old one in your downloads list. The store shows £7.99, but I know that I had the app at some point. I have a feeling it was free for the basics and you bought an extended IAP and IAP for other add ons.
I think at some point he changed it for a paid app, but I still used to be able to download it. I’m going to see what it says if I press the buy button, as it may show I already have it and that it’s just hidden from my download list.
@AudioGus

This guy has a series
Yes, but you can hide purchased items from the list. I know I had the app and it’s definitely not in my list. I will contact the developer.
I have found a bunch of Bitwig videos and even tried the demo for a bit but it is the touch / mobile side of things I am most interested in.
I am talking about the purchase history in the store not the purchased apps list. If it shows up in your purchase history (note the purchased app list which is different) but not in your purchased app list, you may need to get Apple support to straighten it out. I don't think app developers are able to hide/unhide apps.
Same here> @AudioGus said:
I demo BitWig when I had a SP4 ,touch friendly yes , but definitely needs mouse&keyboard .
Avoid the 10" surface go. It's underpowered , a cheap Windows tablet with N5000 quad core cpu is much better&cheaper
Shit dude, didn’t even know we had a purchase history for apps. It doesn’t show the total cost does it!? Lol. Where do I find it?
It does. Do a web search for "app store complete purchase history"
